Yep and we dominated you. Embarrassed you. I still havent heard the media blame their wonder boy kevin oconnel for missing all those 4th down. What were you doing?
Darnold looked shook even in warmups. He had a just got hit by artillery, thousand-yard stare on his face. Maybe that’s just how he looks. Or maybe he was having a nervous breakdown🤷🏻
@@AscendantZoroYea never mind the no-call on the safety against Goff... or the fact that they called Darnold for intentional grounding for the same exact play.... or all the holding in the secondary.... or the obvious false start missed on the Lions. I understand being a Lions fan you're not used to watching football so a lot of this stuff is new to you but the guy who gets away with the free safety generally doesn't get to complain about the refs. Lil FYI moving forward.
@@BillyJack85, it may have happened once on delay of game not being called on Vikings but they cannot hear the snap count on t.v. but for sure the Lions got away with alot of pass interference and holding.
@@toddaulner5393 I'll trade them the delay of game for that safety we earned fair and square. They were definitely draped all over our receivers, too. Anzalone was practically piggybacking guys every time he dropped back into coverage. I don't know how Vikings almost always end up with the short end of the stick from the refs in these games. It's literally every game now I'm seeing 2 or 3 blatantly egregious calls. It happened versus the Packers, too. I wasn't even gonna bring it up but seeing delusional Lions fans complain about their bad calls is a step too far.
@@BillyJack85 the broadcast was incorrect as the ball was thrown at gibbs who was standing directly in the balls path. The refs called the TE for whatever reason. That wasnt remotely a safety. Darnold missed his guy by 20 yards there wasnt a soul in position to look at that ball let alone catch it. Good luck against LA next week. Your gonna need it.
I love these film studies - the blitzing thing is important to note. I kept thinking... "he's just got to settle in and calm down"... but with the blitzing/rushing the QB going on, he didn't get that opportunity.... or did he not take the opportunity. Does the O-Line take any responsibility? Do we need improvements there? Thanks for sharing that. I think we all woke up the next morning asking WTF?, you know? so it's good to have at least a few answers.
And yes! Defense was great. We couldn't stop the Lions from scoring as much as they did but we made some plays and overall it just felt like watching a really good defense playing a better offense instead of a bad offense making bad decisions
the defense was stopping the lions and making goff uncomfortable for 3 quarters. it wasn’t until they saw that the offense wasn’t helping them right now and that we couldn’t keep our defense off the field that the lions started scoring
A couple key plays could have changed the entire look of the game. The near-safety was definitely debatable whether or not it was grounding. And that drop by Van Ginkel was probably going the other way for 6 if he holds onto it. I’m a Lions fan BTW.
The scheme was the problem this week. It doesn't matter if this or that guy is 'open' when the qb has pressure in his face after 2 secs. They needed some quick passes.
Whenever darnold gets hyper focused on JJ, shit falls apart. If he spreads the ball around, we have good games. There are so many weapons on the offensive side, he just needs to use them and get passes out quicker. Taking 3-4 seconds and wearing out the O-line only makes these 5-6min drives way harder to keep doing then we get in 3 and out situations more often.
ty for the breakdown on some of the plays. Vikes broke so many records and not the good ones. hopefully, they take that lesson and use it for fuel on the road. The Lions deserved that win.
Yeah after seeing this film I'm further convinced this Detroit defense got way more credit than they deserved. Dudes were wide open like they've been for several weeks. This was more a Vikings offensive fail than it was a Lions defensive win.
@@Saxman72241 The Detroit defense tried to give the game away but Darnold was not fit to be QB. The Vikings defense kept it a low scoring game while Darnold was missing wide open receivers left and right, at least until the 3rd quarter when the defense was exhausted and Detroit finally started scoring.
Darnold has been a little off (throwing high) past 2 games. He’s getting a lot of pressure up the middle and can’t step into the throws Huge problem , Vikings can’t run when they need to and to help the o-line they’re tying up the backs blocking. Darnold had a poor game but the whole o-line got manhandled. Plus they’re too predictable. Maybe put an extra linemen in backfield instead of running back Also receivers getting held up screwed up the timing , late getting open especially 4th quarter.
@WilUptonYT that just means rather than talking into the top of the mic (pointing it at you), you'll want to talk into the front face of it (the side with the Blue logo)
Darnold and the whole offense had a bad night. I don't expect them to do that again. They will probably be back in Detroit in a couple of weeks. As a Lions fan, I don't want to play them a 2nd time. I'd rather play the Packers, Bucs, or Rams then move on to the Eagles.
I REALLY wish the Vikings ran the ball more, every time they did, it would go well. Like Jones was awesome when he got to have it. Wish Darnold would have realized after first quarter that his throw game is shit and he needs to just give it to Jones and Akers to run with it, especially when they're in the red zone.
Yes, darnold had a horrible game and why is that ? His offensive line did not show up his receivers couldn't catch a beach ball, their defense was piss poor the game plan, and what game plan ? KOC and staff did not prep this team to win hopefully in LA they can do better but i dough it because the lions showed how to squash the vikes with relentless pressure on the O-line and play ballerina with their receivers tight coverage if the RAMs follow suit it's watching the Super Bowl on the TV set on a cold night in Minnesota 😢.
Darnold just choked. Vikings were in the red zone 4 times. Lions defense was holding and dpi every other play with no calls because the refs favor the lions. Stafford will destroy that high school defense in 2 weeks.
Your coach tried to play Campbell's style and its not for everybody. You guys arent man enough to be going for it on 4th down. Why arent you crying about that? MCDC outcoached the great kevin o
Minnesota didn't get lil bro'd, Darnold got lil pumpkin watched. He went back to his old ghostbusting ways and missed wide open receiver after wide open receiver. If KOC had any balls he would've benched Darnold in the 3rd quarter like he's done to Aaron Jones or any other player who showed repeatedly that they were having a bad day. Instead he sat there and watched him torpedo the game along with the playoffs all so he could keep his friendship with Darnold intact. So much for the ruthless honesty and culture of accountability he was building.
This was 100% a psychological game.

Not so sure maybe next year the rams now know how to squash the vikes the way the meow meows did with relentless pressure 😅...
Defense was on point, run game was solid, and the receivers did their part. This game is on Darnold and Reichard
The worst part about this loss is the Lions looked horrible and Darnold looked like a player that needs to be benched

They did early on. They stuffed them in the red zone. It was the first starts of drives where Jones was gashing.
