Tiger King: Sheriff says Don Lewis was murdered

- The hit Netflix series Tiger King has pushed a 23-year-old cold case into the national spotlight.
10News anchor Rob Finnerty spoke with Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister about the mysterious disappearance of Don Lewis, who vanished in 1997.
The seven-episode limited series raised curious questions about whether the founder of Big Cat Rescue, Carole Baskin, knew anything about her late husband’s disappearance. In the Netflix series, critics suggested she might have been involved. She has denied that. And, Sheriff Chronister says Baskin is neither a suspect nor a person of interest.
"Don was not easy to live with and like most couples, we had our moments. But I never threatened him and I certainly had nothing to do with his disappearance," Carole Baskin explained in a statement refuting claims from the Netflix series. "When he disappeared, I did everything I could to assist the police. I encouraged them to check out the rumors from Costa Rica, and separately I hired a private investigator." Chronister is the fourth sheriff to have the case since 1997, and he tweeted on March 30 that he had watched the series, was committed to solving the case and wanted new leads.
When asked about Carole Baskin, Chronister said, “It’s a cold case. And what I mean by that is there’s no active leads." But he added that he also believes Lewis was "murdered" and did not just disappear as was alleged in 1997.
Lewis was formally declared dead in 2002. He would be 81 years old today, if he was still alive.

I believe Carole Baskin is no suspect to the police because in case this goes to court and the guy who killed Don for her is on trial, she can be called a witness, a witness has to testify while a suspect has the right to remain silent. Am I right? I am not a lawyer..

He files a restraining order against her 2 months before, she goes to the store to buy MILK at 3am on the morning of his disappearance (Albertson's closed several hours earlier), meets up with her sheriff deputy brother who she "has very little connection with". Her Brother's PARTNER drives her home while her brother deals with her "broken down" van. (same van that was discovered at the airport?)
She shows no emotion following his "disappearance", tells a story of how he was leaving "early, early, early" for Miami. His van (same van?) is discovered later at a small regional airport with all of his belongings in it.
The office where his will is held is broken into and his will is stolen, it's rewritten to give everything to Carole, she immediately has him pronounced dead after five years is up, doesn't even THINK to hold a memorial for him, laughs about "blacking out" when receiving his death certificate, AND SHE'S NOT CONSIDERED A SUSPECT!?!?

Also, the way the estate paid out like the verbiage on the will, the lawyer man even said he's never seen the word "disappearance" used and boom the man goes missing! When Carole was sexually assaulted at a young age, her parents told her she must have been asking for it. She ran away and married an abusive man and later fled from him. She was picked up on the street by a millionaire. Now she had everything. But now that millionaire wants to divorce her. She isn't giving that new life up without a fight. She killed him and if she didn't kill him then she didn't do herself any favors with all the shady crap she pulled during that time. How is she not a suspect? She's the prime suspect! Everyone knows it's usually the husband or wife that kills them. They're always the first suspect.

The street she apparently got picked up from according to the Tiger King series is Nebraska ave. depends where but most of nebraska is poor neighborhoods and hookers and transvestis do walk that street... so was she hooking? and why was she ok getting into a car with a complete stranger and then hold a gun pointing at him so... was she a hooker when he met her?

Not that it matters...but when i got arrested for unpaid parking tickets. Cop was nice enough to offer a favor to me. He said since my license states my house is one block away, that he can call another patrol cop to swing by and drive my car home, to avoid having to pay to retrieve my car from STEPPS towing. I thanked him. The next day i made bail, my parents were nome the wiser. However, when i looked in my car the cop had rooted through and emptied my wallet and kept the designer wallet. I was like whatever.

If she “passed” it, it would be considered inconclusive. If she was innocent, her husband just disappeared and she doesn’t have an emotional response to being asked sensitive questions. If she was guilty, she was lying without the test picking it up. Polygraph tests just aren’t trustworthy

this scenario of carol killing her husband is so similar to how my stepmom killed my dad and got away with it (and received his life insurance fraudulently) when i was a little girl. She was clerk of court as well. She destroyed my family and robbed me and my 2 siblings of our childhood, our daddy and made my life hell for many years. From the time my dad met her, divorced my mom, married step monster and her killing him was only the span of a year. He only had a life insurance policy as part of a divorce decree from my mom. Judge ordered he take out a policy for his kids as beneficiaries in case something happens to him. My dad was 26 when he was killed, his killer was 36.
Carole Baskin did the same thing Joe Exotic did with the animals, the only difference is she had the money and he didn't. They both where obsesse with each other. It wasn't the tigers it was a black jaguar witch was his favorite. She felt it was ironic to feed him to his favorite cat. He wanted to move his cats to Costa Rica and have a sanctuary and also to release cats back in the wild. She didn't want that because she knew she needed the cats to make money.

Liars have passed polygraphs and innocents have failed them. Polygraphs have a 70-90% accuracy so they aren’t fool proof. I still think they need to consider her a suspect because she was the last person we know to have been with him
Blake Givens ~ They do hold up in courts that are judged by a jury. Many average civilians (who make up the jury) might take a polygraph into consideration when determining their judgement. Just like some might take into consideration that she refused to take one.
A polygraph isn't admissible in court.but you know what is? Statement analysis. It's a science and she's already incriminated herself because she's deceptive with her very own words.
Polygraphs are not in anyone's best interest because they are biased against those who are honest, ie they tend to give false positives

The fact that she declined a polygraph test says a lot.
I strongly believe she is guilty. That said, declining a polygraph is what you are supposed to do. In the eyes of the law it has little to no upside. Even if you are innocent, you should still decline it because there is a chance there will be an error and it will make you look guilty. The only time anyone should take one is if it is a specific scenario and a lawyer who is on your side tells you it is smart.

In the show she said the septic tank was already installed & someone was living there. Now its a couple of years later so she has changed that story.

I've never seen a Sheriff give so much information on a cold case. Usually that doesn't happen incase someone comes forward and new information can be verified using unreleased evidence.
