One never knows what will turn up when you click on a unknown cover of a favorite song. Often you click away after a few moments but once in awhile you find a gem! I was enthralled by your performance of this beautiful song and am off to listen to your other videos. You have talent and I hope you enjoy many, many years of making music. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I am uncertain at this point how many times I saw Richard Thompson , but I paid to see him more times than anybody else , but I alway's looked forward to hearing this one by him . I just wish for you to know that I enjoy your offering here just as much and I'm truly grateful to your efforts here , wonderful performance and what a beautiful home as well ! Best wishes to you !!!
Pure class. One of my favourite songs. I could never play it on guitar so I play an effort on my Uke. Hairs on my neck stood out while listening to this. Beautiful Guitar. Beautiful Song Beautiful Performance. Thank you Enjoyed the dog photobombing
I love this song and listen to all the different versions by different artists. I always come back to this video because it is hands down my favorite version I have found so far.
I do so love coming across magical videos like this, just one of us with an insane amount of talent playing in a living room with dogs, family photos, and stuff around...thank you.
It's a rare occasion when an artist produces a cover that surpasses the original. But I find myself listening to this rendition more than I have been listening to Thompson. England loves you Macyn ;)
I recently fell in love with this song. Then tried to play it and was stumped. You make it look so easy. It is now my mission to learn it as well as you.
Love this version to show where the 6/4's make sense, but also where they can go away. A very inspiring arrangement, especially for trying to play this with other folks and stay grounded in 4/4. Thank you....8 years later!
Loved it, watched it a couple of more times. Good voice (perfect story tellin'), impressive playing, great lyrics (RT) and the guitar---aw, so sweet and beautiful.
Wow. I can only imagine the time put in to master those picking skills . Forget these shredders this is pure talent. What an incredible . Thank you ..👏👏👏🇬🇧
I wonder if it is true, that the Vincent Black Lightening of which the song refers is the one at century Cycles in San Pedro Ca. I was told by the owner of years ago, Cindy...a lovely red headed energetic Vincent enthusiast, that the song was written for her. It was based on a brief relationship she had with James and that in fact the bike has been in her bedroom ever since he died. She has since passed and Century Cycles is now owned and operated by her son I believe. Her Vincent is now on display among many other classics in the showroom, along with a touching tribute to Cindy and her father. A touching and moving little piece of music.
He said that the bike was always the go to dream bike from when he was a kid, when he started writing the song the only piece he had was the vincent black lightning and he wrote everything around that.
Perfect !!!!... This has become an example of good music for the Texas Music Scene !!!... Bravo !!! Music from a Texas Music Scene member... Good music... Good fun... Great finger picking from a long time musician, myself. Here's a toast from a friend of Townes Van Zandt, Alan Damron, Michael Martin Murphey, B.W. Stevenson, Willis Alan Ramsey, and many others... Hope to see more of you... Tim

Hello Macyn! I take lessons from a Tony McManus. I mentioned your video on 1952 Vincent Black Lightning and he said he knew about you...small world! Anyway, I do LOVE your version, as I can actually understand the lyrics!! Very beautiful rendition, Macyn. Best regards, Dennis
Wow. Your cover gave me goosebumps. A great voice and the guitar playing was magnificent. Mr. Thompson would probably love your cover, too. Thanks for posting.

I never heard Richard Thompson perform his own song, having been introduced to it by the spirited and gifted Texas red dirt band known as Reckless Kelly, featuring Willy & Cody Braun. And I absolutely LOVE the way they perform this song, but I must say that it’s not an easy song to sing or play and Macyn absolutely rocks it! I seriously hope you have stuck with it and are a huge success by now! 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌Great job and great talent!
So great to hear such a fantastic cover of this song. . Lovely guitar of course but it's the playing of it that makes this so good. I always enjoying playing RT songs (I have a cover of Just The Motion up here, Never tried to copy His playing exactly - well done for mastering this!
Macyn your guitar work just wrecks me. Incredible! Your voice and singing style is so unusual I had to close my eyes and let it go , only then did I hear how right you got it. Nice Nice Nice!
