@@alfodr000 Much of the fame and recognition received by giganotosaurus was born from the suggestion that it might have been larger than tyrannosaurus, however the fossil remains are insufficient to back up that claim. Our understanding of giganotosaurus comes in the form of 2 specimens: the 70% complete holotype (MUCPv-Ch1) and a piece of dentary from a potentially larger or perhaps just more robust individual (MUCPv-95). The holotype was initially measured in at 12.5 meters, while the dentary specimen was estimated to be around 13.5 meters. For perspective, Sue the T rex was 12.8 meters. It was later discovered that the skull and femur of giganotosaurus were not reconstructed and scaled properly. Can any paleontologist or more well informed person explain why all the carnivores had similar morphology? Ie. Timy arms and large legs. Is it due to convergent evolution or that they all share a common ancestor species that diverges. 🤔
The majority of Theropods (two legged meat eating Dinos) didn’t really need arms, they had more reliance on their powerful legs and jaws. Many of the smaller theropods still had arms that they were able to utilize, and the spinosaurs had strong arms with big claws to grab their slippery fish meals. But Tyrannosaurs and other similar theropods didn’t really need arms because their powerful jaws were one hit KOs anyway, so evolution made them smaller and smaller. It’s similar to how snakes evolved off of lizards, but they evolved in a direction to have long bodies with no limbs because it was more beneficial in their environments.
Compsognathus was not the fastest dinosaur. Dilophosaurus did not have a frill. Ceratosaurus had a horn on its head. Titanoboa did NOT have a frill… Baryonyx did not look like that
Recent studies during the current decade, the 2020s for the Allosauroids such as Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus puts them at Carchar at 12.5 meters, and 5-6 tons Giga at 13 meters and 7-8 tons regarding the Spinosaurus, in a study by Paul Sereno in November of 2022, after conducting a CT scan experiment with the Spinosaurus specimens and recreating a CT scan model of this dinosaur, it turns out that this animal is less dense in the water than a typical modern day crocodile, it couldn't even dive underwater, when swimming it is constantly trying to not fall over on its sail, and this animals can grow a maximum of 14 meters in length, and 7.4 tons in weight. Via the article, "Spinosaurus is Not an Aquatic Dinosaur". Volume and muscle density of a T Rex is way bulkier, heavily built, and way more robust than any Allosauroid or Spinosauridae ever, including the Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, and Giganotosaurus. at hip height, if you were to decapitate the up to date 2022 Spinosaurus' sail T Rex will also be the tallest of the four theropods too as well as the heaviest. T Rex is literally built like a living tank just to hunt, battle, and kill other living tanks such as Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, and Alamosaurus. Not to mention that this animal is one of the most energy efficient animals ever, and they are also now confirmed in 2021 thanks to a dig sight found somewhere in Utah 3 tyrannosaurs related to T Rex died together and a possible flooding, leading to Paleontologists to thinking that the Tyrannosauridae family may have been a lot more social than they ever had thought, gathered and hunted together in social groups, despite being the ultimate Apex predator dinosaur.

Also the fact that recent fossil's from 2020 of Spinosaurus suggests that it was very much active underwater, rather than spending more time on land.
Around 2013, the holotype was measured at 12.25 meters and the dentary specimen estimated between 12.52 and 13 meters. For reference Scotty the Tyrannosaurus is 13 meters.

Can any paleontologist or more well informed person explain why all the carnivores had similar morphology? Ie. Timy arms and large legs. Is it due to convergent evolution or that they all share a common ancestor species that diverges. 🤔
Common ancestor
Minus the ones that hunted large fish aka the spinos they have long strong arms
Cuz they giant lizards? Hmmm....
@@raquellozada1967 they aren’t lizards LOL

Recent studies during the current decade, the 2020s for the Allosauroids such as Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus puts them at
Carchar at 12.5 meters, and 5-6 tons
Giga at 13 meters and 7-8 tons
regarding the Spinosaurus, in a study by Paul Sereno in November of 2022, after conducting a CT scan experiment with the Spinosaurus specimens and recreating a CT scan model of this dinosaur, it turns out that this animal is less dense in the water than a typical modern day crocodile, it couldn't even dive underwater, when swimming it is constantly trying to not fall over on its sail, and this animals can grow a maximum of 14 meters in length, and 7.4 tons in weight.
