I'm a "professional teacher" and I try to "teach grammar" as rarely as possible! I focus on activity-based lessons. Grammatical knowledge is usually best acquired indirectly, I feel. Grammar can be a piano best learnt by ear, so to speak. Though there are indeed other legitimate schools of thought on this, which I wouldn't want to rubbish.
I love this perspective… Although it’s useful for people to know the grammar rules.. but at the same time if native speakers can pick up correct grammar through exposure then there’s no particular reason why second language learners can’t do the same…

@@1978pudding grammar is extremely important. I'm just not convinced that teaching it theoretically is very effective :)
