Damn... this is like Hendrix-playing-the-guitar level crazyness. The creators of that drum machine never could have imagined this happening; just a man and the single machine to make a full warehouse go nuts. Remarkable footage.
Simply put: this is just awesome. I just love seeing this man at work, saw him tons when i was younger, the dude made me learn how to dj. Now 40 years old, still putting on vinyl from time to time. Love this guy, his 909 live sets were the best. Much respect!
No comparision... Jeff mills is in another level of visionaryness (don't even know if this word exists, not a native english speaker), music FAR FAR ahead of time
@@eduds6 ehhh. Jimi deserves more respect than that. I personally think Jimi would've loved electronic music if he wouldve had access to the tech. It was around in the 60's but wasn't "developed" and really expensive I'm assuming. I'm not sure if big manufacturers even made sequencers and drum machines at that time. Maybe? I see what you're saying though.
Through the radio stations one day and discovered this DJ who was mixing I say it to this day, if you ain't listened to the the wizard You ain't have a f***ing clue what you was missing ~eminem(groundhog Day)
This man make magic happen when is playing he goes off in to his mad scientist mind lab and collaborates mind body and soul of musical waves to groove too nobody does it like Jeff Mills
Agreed. There's definitely a"too many options" problem with the current tools for making electronic music .But the 909 is a bit overrated . Jeff is a legend and all that but the stuff in the video is just groove. Groove is important but it's not the whole story.
@@joostc4750 the 909 is the roots of techno and if you master it like Jeff Mills you don't need anything else, you call it just groove, well than show us how well you can just make "groove" in live session performance with a 909
Good luck to the next DJ.
Len Faki apparently.
hahahahahhahahaha
Len Faki smashed it afterwards
jajajajaj
Len Faki doesn't disappoint ...
That drum groove, pure African / Tribal vibration. Techno ah we ting. Bless sir Jeff
NextSound yes sir! You said it! What a fucking grooooove!!!!
What a legend! Special one this Jeff Mills
The track only exists in his head. He is dancing with his hands to make It possible. Just a genius!. The father and King of minimal techno.
Father? King? LMFAO!
I'd argue on good authority that Dan Bell (DBX) and Robert Hood are the father and king of the genre.
Damn... this is like Hendrix-playing-the-guitar level crazyness. The creators of that drum machine never could have imagined this happening; just a man and the single machine to make a full warehouse go nuts. Remarkable footage.
He is doing something that 95% of dj's can't even imagine of doing it
music inside
I would say 99%
That 909 will need a cigarette after this
Thank you, sir. You have won the internet comment award :D
hahaha for sure man good one I cry 🤣
I WAS THERE AND IT WAS F**** AMAZING!
Salute to whoever was recording because I couldn't record for this long during what I'm hearing right now, pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥

no one can fuck with mills man. most artists come n go but this guy is the fucking don corleone
This guys like a jazz musician, he lets it slip to keep you on your toes then throws the beat back in time to let you know who’s in charge.
The legend delivers, in an oldskool way, again!
Most beautiful thing I’ve seen in months
Cant wait to see this legend do his thing in Rotterdam in a fcking all nighter!!
Edit: best night in my life.
Lunaotic eargasm allnighter 💊👍🤤👈😁👉😆👈👉😬☝️
Hello Rotterdam! I have a friend that lives there in Krimpen een de issel.
Took a picture with him 2 weeks ago in Paris. He does not look like 60 at all. His skin is so clean, amazing, and he looks so shy too ...
One of the best performances for me at this years Awakenings! Was very intense and I kept dancing for the full 1 hr 45 minutes :P
I've heard good things about it alright haha
You lightweight Jessie. Come to Scotland, we dance all night. Well piss breaks and bar breaks here and there obviously.
@@haggismuncher429 I didn't just dance for his set.. offcourse I was dancing the rest of the day mate
@@Aboukay80 as long as you had a good time my friend, thats all that matters.
@@haggismuncher429 Exactly! Thanks and much appreciated
I love watching Jeff perform. His hand movements are epic!
on the left is his biggest fan
Oh.. That took way too long :D
Think you’re funny, huh?
The best drumming performance ever on a stage :)
if the audience knew how hard he was working up there!
the jimi hendrix of the electronic music

true, and I don't even know this guy until I saw him from facebook page... And instant like it is XD
Great analogy
eduds6 😂😂 You know nothing about music if you say somethting like that

That feeling for the rhythm is totally awesome. Good work Mr. Mills. 🎉❤
this is the best of techno music. this man is a genius
This guy out of this world
this makes my soul smile
The 909 is so simple yet he manages to create completely new sounds with it
His work with knobs is minblow
Through the radio stations one day and discovered this DJ who was mixing

all hail the wizard!
In millions DJs and producers I have difficulty in finding pure "art"...well HERE WE HAVE!!!
Almost 2024 and still the king
I miss my 909 even more than I miss my 303. Ableton is fun and all, but those were some amazing toys.
oh my man why did you sell your soul
Buy 303 and 909 clones from Behringer. They're good quality, cheap and come with modern features while still authentic enough
haha there's Behringer at the end of that dark tunnel
You can barely hear it because of the angle in which this was filmed, but Jeff has some insanely beautiful hats accompanying the percussion. Just wow!
I can sort of hear em but he’s I agree
He is still getting better at it!
This man make magic happen when is playing he goes off in to his mad scientist mind lab and collaborates mind body and soul of musical waves to groove too nobody does it like Jeff Mills
The Godfather of techno music 🎶 🎶 🎶 🎶 🕺🏽
so beautiful so clean
I’m sorry if your going to see a DJ play live it just doesn’t get much better than this
Dan Wiles I’m going to see him again this December. I cannot wait!!
Chorrell Piqué WHP in Manchester? I was there last night
Imagine being at 909 festival with Octave One and Jeff Mills playing live. What a day was that!

My mind is blown away... :) :) :)
Jeff Mills making a transition
I wonder what he could do to Elektron machines (Machinedrum, Rytm) which have similar to Roland's sequencer, only better (with parameter locks)....

Where can I find the whole set?!!!!!!
That's real work on stage! Really cool, unlike those pretty girls acting like they are landing a space shuttle manually.
When people ask what real techno is, this is what I mean
