How to Take off and Land on a Runway in the ICON A5

- In the next video in the How to Fly the ICON A5 series, ICON Chief Flight Instructor Genesah Duffy presents the proper procedures for takeoff and landing on a runway in the amphibious ICON A5.
The A5's unique features and capabilities make for many incredible adventures, but also requires additional focus during land and water operations to ensure the landing gear is in the correct position and the landing checklist is completed for the intended runway environment.
This video is not meant to replace dual instruction or proficiency training with an A5 Instructor Pilot, but rather to provide an overview and a few helpful tips for how to safely land the amphibious ICON A5 on a hard-surfaced runway.
The controls on this beauty are so simple, it truly is a recreational aircraft. I love it, wish I could afford one.

Hmmm, curious landing without flaps.
I think it was just because she was doing a touch and go. It is quite a slow aircraft to begin with.

The 600kg LSA limit is silly and it means that after making the amphibious frame, the 2 seats and the RG - you've only got enough weight limit for a tiny Rotax-912 and tiny fuel tanks.
Do you guys plan to make a version of essentially the same but has a bigger engine and fuel tanks for PPL holders who don't care about the 600kg limit (I think it might be a bit more for seaplanes, but still small)? Maybe even a 4-seater? That'd be awesome.

Can this land on unpaved runways and operate in cold conditions? If yes, this thing is a beast.
You need to modify the tires and suspension for bush flight.

Water Rudder ? Up-down ? Would like to know more about that. Thought the aircraft flying rudder was used when in the water ?
The A5 actually has a water rudder that interconnects with the air rudder. When in the water, we hit a little electronic switch that lowers the water rudder into the water for more controllability.
Standard to have water rudder(s) on Seaplanes.
My RC version also like power on to land unless you're higher and coming down to keep up your air speed. I so wish my RC had flaps. Why aren't you using flaps for landing?
On takeoff, so you get adverse yaw (I think that's the term - uninitiated yaw due to prop wash hitting the side of the tail) with the rear-facing propeller?
Is that thing has a radio?

I'm curious about something, she take off and land without FLAPS, that's mean the A5 only need FLAPS for water landing and take off?
I have a few questions. Is this plane on sale in Holland and is the action radius only about 500km? My father is looking for a new plane and I love this one, so I could fly it as well. But the radius is so low, did I read it wrong or is out only 500km? That's too low, so I hope I read it wrong...

Why do you have the flaps up for both takeoff and landing?
In the A5, normal runway takeoff and landings are done with zero flaps.
Zero flaps takeoff and landing ... when are flaps useful, short field ?

Play2winbaby yes, short field and soft field landings we use flaps. Normal, none.
JohnPavilonis correct, all water takeoff and landings are done with full flaps.
