    Rio should have a “Win a day fly fishing with Simon” contest.

      We'll put that idea to Simon!!

    I like that front end head matching tip section transition, I’m very happy with the RIO Skagit short, that they work so well in the surf with heavy and bulky fly patterns, even up to 12”, I never had a problem with the clunky turn overs on any tip densities.
    Anyhow, you guys are the best in the industry 👍👍
    Keep up the good work🎣

    Just picked up the max power! I’m a huge line nerd so I have the grain equivalent opst and airflo heads. The max power is 2ft longer but it outperforms the other lines. The difference is shocking. I first compared 400gr and the max power would always slip and blow the anchor. The other lines would cast amazing. Then I went up to 450gr which was the sweet spot for my rod

    Having a hard time deciding between the launch and the power. I’m fishing a fast action 12.5 on the Sandy and Clackamas mainly for winter fish. Thanks for any feedback

      We just checked with Simon, and he said that probably the Max Power on that rod, and on those rivers would serve you best. Coincidentally he was on the Sandy yesterday, and used the Max Power all day - he said it was "magnificent"

    How much the new Launch head differs from gamechanger? Gamechanger is very popular shooting head body here in Finland used in scandi style casting. The new Launch head could work well also in that.

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only difference, Mikko, is that the new Launch is a full floating head, whereas the GameChanger is a multi-density intermediate, or sinking head. The tapers and the way they cast will be just about the same, so if you need a floating head, this would be a good one to look at.

    Would you be able to put the max power on a trout spey set up? I have a 4wt thats window is 325-300. would this be a better option than the trout spey shooting line?

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The right weight would, but the lightest Max Power we make is 325gr, which is a bit heavy for most 4wt Trout Speys. It could work, but would be the very top end of the weight scale for a 4wt.

    Does that mean the Skagit max gamechanger is due to be upgraded to match tips or is it fine to being density compensated?

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, and very observant. No, there are no plans to upgrade the GC head in the near future. It will get the SlickCast coating somewhere down the line, but probably a year away before it does.

    I did see many info about the Rio lines.
    Maybe,....too much.
    But,....can you please help me to find the right one for me?
    It is for a Thomas&Thomas rod 7#.
    I want to fish that for big perch and aspius.
    It will be on rivers and also on lakes that are connected with the river.
    I use small imitations of baitfish max 5 inch. (not weighted)
    Can you give me some advice?
    greetings from The Netherlands and tight lines.

    What weight head for 9’ 6wt would be a good starting point do you think?

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're probably looking in the 200-225 grain window. Cheers!

    I'm confused.. I'm just trying to set up my first rod.. So if i got the launch head for a 10# 15ft rod 650 grains then got my tip at a 10wt 15ft thats 150 grains thats 800 grains in all. isnt that a bit high for a 10 weight rod.. Am i doing something wrong here?

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The math is correct, but with Skagit heads you do NOT include the weight of the tip in the calculation for rod load - the reason being is that the tip doesn't form part of the D-loop behind you, so doesn't really influence the load. Hopefully that makes some kind of sense.
