Hot Topic Review: Kawai ES8

- The long-awaited Kawai ES8 finally makes its debut here at Milan Recording Studios, where I'll show you all of its sounds and many of its features. The ES8 isn't perfect, (no digital piano is) but overall I think it's fantastic. It has some high quality sounds and a fantastic build quality. I do feel that while the action is good, it could use some improvements, but as a whole I think the ES8 is a very good digital piano.
Hello James. A couple of weeks ago I bought a Kawai ES8 and I had exactly the problem that you are complaining about, that if you press the key very gently, there is no sound. It annoyed me. I happened to notice this on exactly the same piece, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, and also on Für Elise. But there is a solution: Under menu item 2-1 Touch Curve you can create your own touch curve under User1. When recording the touch curve, press the key as gently as possible and when the technology then evaluates it, you have a touch curve that produces an audible sound with the lightest force at the keystroke. Greetings from Germany. Thanks for your great videos
This ist the major Problem with Kawai. You can tweak almost anything.
But i like the ES8. It is the one and only electric piano with so much character. And it looks so beatyful espacialy in white.
Your comment right here has made me feel more comfortable about purchasing this piano. Should be arriving on Saturday.
Thank you for offering your suggestion! Cheers!
I have the same problem!
I have the same issue and then changed the touch curve from normal to light. Will try the customized setting next time. Thanks for the tip!!
On a normal piano there is also no sounds when pressing very gentle. I think Kawai did a good job on that actually.
Wow, you are really cranking out the videos. It is appreciated!
Thanks, glad you're enjoying them!
My local dealer claims an ES9 arrival in august this year!
Really? Interesting...I thing they change the action to Grand Feel Compact to compete to P515 (wooden action)
Oh man, I wonder what action will it use. Could be a major improvement over the ES8. If only they made a VPC2 with one of the GF actions.
Now I'm confused as to get ES8 now or wait until august :/ lol
Well no updates, guess there's no ES9
August is almost over. Still no news on the ES9
Played this at a music store few weeks ago and fell in love with it!!!
Would LOVE to see a review of the mp7se! Please please please do a review of it! Especially interested in the action, the piano sound and the hammond simulation with drawbars:)
Same here - I wanna know what James thinks of the action, I can't try them at the moment and I'm wondering if I'd like the MP7SE better than a Dexibell vivo S7 pro which is what I'm considering atm (MP7SE is certainly cheaper!). I own a dexibell vivo H7 console type digital piano which has the same sounds/action as the S7 pro, but it's way too heavy and bulky to take to a gig! but I quite like the interface on the MP7SE because it reminds me of an old roland from the 1990s which is familiar to me, so for a gigging instrument, if the action's great (dexibell uses Fatar), then I might go for the MP7SE instead. dexibell sounds are stunning, however - hard to live without them when that's what I use at home.
Now its time: P515 vs ES8 pleaseeee James..
Ok I'll do that!
@@ThePianoforever If possible could you please review the P515 stand + tipple pedal unit in the future? Thanks!
ThePianoforever Eyy! Awesome. Love your videos
@@ThePianoforever Although this isn't my personal request it's nice to see your response to Mazing Media.
@@ThePianoforever please please please! I've been holding off on buying a digital piano, waiting for this review
PLEASE make a tutorial of your treble piece!!!
Thanks a lot James! Your channel is a blessing!
I really want to see James release an album of him playing the full versions of all the music he always uses for his demos. Preferably recored off of the MP11SE.
29:45
Voila, haha. Accurate expression.
Thanks for the review, I brought a Kawai ES110 recently cause of your in-depth reviews.
as always great video and reviewing...thank you James. !!!
greetings from Germany Oliver
I'm a total beginner and about 2 weeks ago I bought it as my first piano. I think it's perfect. I tried a real grand yamaha and then tried the es8 and it was the closest digital piano action I could buy with my budget. Bought it slightly used at about 1000 euros. Now I have no excuses to not learn how to play it :)
And as far as I know, Europe is still in lockdown so no, you have no excuses not to learn lol
Really tempted to get a mp11se but dexibel has the vivo s9 curious on your thoughts.
If you want a realistic feeling and sounding stage, the mp11 se is king.
If you are a pianist, definitely get the mp11se over any other, mp11se's action is among the best in it's class, if not the best.
I think the Korg's RH3 is "Real Weighted Hammer Action (RH3)", while Kawai's RHIII is "The Responsive Hammer (RHII and RHIII) actions". So they are probably not the same thing, despite having a similar
abbreviation?
I'm not certain because Kawai seems to do the same type of description differences between their own varying models. In those cases I was fairly certain those actions were identical, just described significantly different. I've noticed it myself and just chalked it up to different Marketing people or approach.
Hey can you do a Kawai mp7se review pleeeeaaaassseeee. I would love to see comparison between kawai mp7se and 11se maybe.
Thanks btw! Love youre videos
Hi James, I m really confused between the Casio AP-270 ( somewhat like a PX-770) and the Ronald Rp-102 ( Somewhat like a FP-30). Would appreciate the suggestion. Looking for best possible touch and sound. I will play it at home for enjoyment, and not a professional pianist or something.
now it's time for ES920 review (VS ES8?) :-)
Hi James, what is your opinion about the Kawai CA 79 vs. MP11SE? I played a CA79 and a ES8 a few days ago. The CA79 was miles ahead. The Action of the CA 79 should be similar to the action of the MP11SE. But if the sounds of the ES8 and the MP11SE are exact the same the CA 79 seems to be another league.
Have you considered the CA78/CA98? They should be cheaper than the CA79/CA99.
Everything is OK with the stereo width in this recording. Thank you for that. Looking forward to your comparison with P-515. BTW are you going to review higher Roland FP-series models like FP-90?
I think before I review the higher end Roland's I will check out some of the more boutique keyboards from Italy, they have always fascinated me. The FP-60 and FP-90 are on the list in the future, as is the FP-10.
Hi James, Please do a review about the new Kawai ES920, if not too much trouble. Thanks
Fantastic video as always, thank you!
I've had the ES-8 now for about 4 months. I think the action does improve after a while of playing. Initially it felt a bit ... Mushy. Now when I try the middle keys (ones most frequently played) they feel less mushy when pushing down slowly than ones on the edges. The effect is still there but not as pronounced.
Anyway, love your videos!
I bought this digital piano about a week ago, and so far I really like it. The action could use some improvements and does feel quite spongey, but the amazing samples more than make up for it in my opinion. I find this dp really expressive and fun to play.
Yes the samples and the build quality are both incredible.
Hi, James. Thank you for this great review. There were lot of people who had to sent their ES8 and MP7SE back again to change the entire rubbers of their keyboards and then, some still didn't quite work properly. Apparently (a year or two ago) Kawai changed the brand of rubbers they used (maybe yours have new ones type from factory), but the new ones apparently still have problems after some month of regular use. That is what I have been investigating in the last several months since I really wanted to buy an MP7SE.
I think that if Kawai manages to re-design its RHAIII and definitively fixes the bounce problem but even more the problem with its sensors, then its next successor models to the ES8 and MP7SE could be the bests the market has to offer in terms of price and quality (also I think they should work to definitily enhanced few of its "other" sounds in order to achieve what they have already achieved with the acoustic and electric piano sounds). In fact I think, in that case, the "next" MP7SE could be really the best and more versatile stage piano for the price range that usually handles Kawai. Nowadays and thanks to your lovely previous review, I now think that the best option for a Stage Piano at that price range is the Korg SV2 or the Korg SV2S. So again and again, thank you so much for your great and detailed reviews.
I agree, the SV2 is amazing, no matter what variant you choose. I also like the P515, my other favorite piano in that price range that I've tried so far. I also feel that if Kawai makes a new variant of the ES8 or MP7SE, as I am hearing rumors about, they will have the potential to be better than ever. And the ES8 is pretty darn good already.
@@ThePianoforever So you don't mind the P515 (and other P/CLP) action being stiff at the top then sinking very softly towards the bottom, when playing softly? I've noticed some AU Yamaha are like that but not all - one U1 wasn't? Or is this perhaps matter of regulation? The N1X isn't either...
James.... Thanks for your videos, I'm old man 65 but absolutely decided to learn music and piano!! Thanks to you. Do you consider necessary to by this one or to learn its ok Es110 ? Thanks!,,,
The ES110 would be fine for learning on, that's kind of what it's made for. The ES8 just has some extra features like higher quality sounds, and a higher build quality which are great, but not necessary for a beginner. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
65 is not old
Don't talk foolish.
We love Kawai. My daughters has this action (and I think same samples) in her console and after years, it's (action) still noisy. We purchased it because there are no critical wood components to be concerned with that could shrink / swell with humidity changes and potentially cause problems. There is a variety of adjustments that can be made and though we would never attempt, you may find at least the soft playing (maybe other aspects) can be accommodated via those adjustment's. The SK sample at G6 and higher has an unbelievable sustain, and I really mean unbelievable (EX sample is not even close) however never had a chance to play an SK to confirm.
Yes, the SK concert grand sample has excellent sustain and presence in the treble. I used the MP11 for several years which uses a wooden action and never had any issues with it.
Really enjoy your videos, man! Such a variation in music. Have to say I love the strings. Debussy - magic.
ES8 is a great digital piano. It's been around for quite a while but it doesn't really feel or sound dated. Maybe in terms of the interface and some aspects of the action it can be improved, but it was well designed and has aged great.
It's five years old already. I expect them to come with a newer version.
My school has one, I enjoy playing it. I was going to buy one but the people selling were extremely pushy and hounded me too much about buying one.
It's a brilliant digital piano. I like the EX setting and the light + touch curve.
Hey James, I liked the ES8 a lot, but I was also bothered by the bouncy key returns. Curiously, nearby in that shop the CN39 wasn't as bouncy, although Kawai assure they use the same RHIII keybed...
The FP90 keys also bounce back a little bit to be honest, but not as much.
Thank you James...
Key action of the Roland FP-90/RD-2000 is better?
I got one 4 years ago ... and still love it all these years later. At some point would like to upgrade to something with a better action (probably Kawai since I really love their piano voices, especially the SK) ... but I am still very satisfied with ES8. The built in speakers a bit limited, but I have some good studio monitors .... and playing with headphones (like Sony MDR-V6) gives an incredible experience.
The sample that triggers when the damper pedal is released seems much too loud to me. I hope that’s adjustable!
Hello James, love what you do.
Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge!
Could you please make a video or comparing an equivalent digital piano to the KWAI ES520?
Thank you!
I love my Kawai ES8
Nord Grand Review !!!
Despite the bad experience with Nord Stage , I think you should really consider the Nord Grand, since it has the best experience from a pianist player perspective, in the Nord line
It does seem like an interesting product, I have some other things I want to review first but I think that shall happen in the future.
Yes please, go ahead with the Nord Grand review. I tried one day and the hammer action is just amazing.
You mentioned it is expensive so you are not keen to buy one for the review. Hope you can borrow one so we can see a video from you soon. Cheers.
Interestingly, Nord Grand 88 and maybe others are using Kawai action.
@@ThePianoforever And perhaps touch on the better buy Nord Grand vs. Yamaha P515. afaf. Love your style!
just bought today ES 110 and can't wait :)
You will love it............... I have got one and love it
White ES8 looks absolutely stunning
Hi James! I would love to see your opinion about Dexibell. They are an Italian brand which forked from a Roland R&D in Italy, but they have their own path and technology now. They also use an action produced by Fatar, another Italian manufacturer. I believe the Vivo H7 and S9 are their top products. I’m curious what do you think about the sound and action. They seem to have pretty good reviews and they claim that they are the first digital piano company accepted by the London College of Music.
Your timing is very good, as I just recently ordered a Crumar 7 that should make it to the studio before I return in several weeks. If that video goes over well I would be interested in expanding into other boutique keyboards as well.
Thank you!
I too would love to hear you compare this one and p515.
Can you make a video of you adjusting the ES8 settings to get a better action?
While the touch sensitivity can be adjusted in the menu, providing the illusion of a heavier or lighter action, there is no real way to physically adjust or improve upon the ES8's action without taking it apart and modifying it.
Hey James, have you had a chance to play with an ES920 yet? I'd love to hear your opinions on it!
kawai mp11se vs kawai CA79, any thoughts?
The ca79 is vastly superior, with a significantly better actions (Grand Feel 3), more up to date samples as well as older ones, 4 much higher quality speakers and a touch screen.
The Ca79 is much more expensive, but its worth every penny more
Same question here. I played a CA79 and a ES8 a few days ago. The CA79 was miles ahead. What is your opinion James?
Depends on the price, the CA79 being a new model could be quite a lot more expensive. If you mainly need a great action and don't mind the keyboard aesthetic go for the mp11se + a good stand. Have you considered the CA78/CA98?
The action on the CA79 is a bit lighter from what I hear. Oh, and if you go for the MP11SE, most definitely purchase the dust cover that kawai makes.
Also if you don't need all the extra functionality of the MP11SE and the portability go for CA78/98 or CA79/99.
Great review as usual James!
I bought it last year. I thought about buying the MP 7SE because it has more sounds (specially for the tonewheel organ) but it has no speakers and it's for home use. In the end I use it with headphones most of the time so I think I should've bought the MP 7SE. But I agree that it is a pretty decent instrument and I prefer it over its competitors with speakers (Roland FP 60 and 90, Yamaha P 515 and Korg Havian 30) wich I tried.
That is so delicately played the Chopin.........really nice. What a lovely instrument the Es 8 is!
How much heavier is the es8 compared to the ES110 , I have a ES110 it’s fantastic but when I try to lift it so 400ft away from my home it’s liftable carrying it by hand but not for too long.
The ES110 is very light.
ThePianoforever thanks James!
The rotary effect is easy. You just alternate the menu button up and down quickly.
Bought one a year ago. Have never regretted it
love this kind of deep review... ty for your passion and hard work.
Got the Kawai es920 and love it.just sold a Yamaha b1 upright and owned the mp7/Nord piano/korg/Roland/keyscape/ravenscroft and many more and I’m still impressed with the Kawai es920
Do you find any difference in the key action he discusses on the ES8? The slight bounce at the end? I have one on order, hoping they made some slight update to the action.
Hello James! Have you heard of the Viscount Legend 70´s Stage Piano? Could you do a review?
I just ordered an ES8 but wonder what music stand are you using with it. What would you recommend for the home? I don't travel with it. I love your review.
R7eagle it comes with a magnetic music stand so no need to buy one
Indeed a good piano to add to my list of favorites. I wait a bit before I begin to call this a hit. (Sounds nice) because on this moment the Kawai Se 110 and the Yamaha p515 are at the top and you mentioned already that you’re going to do a review of the p515 and this one. By the way is it possible to do also a demonstration of how you play your second testpiece? I mean the one for mid and low? I sometimes got that in my head because it’s just a good nice piece. Thank you for sharing and a lot of playing. Something I really like.
do you think it's worth it for a beginner to buy a p125 over a p45, also, what's the difference between the p45 and the p71?
I wonder if he’ll take it apart?😳
I would love to see a review of a Yamaha Clavinova, maybe the CLP 635!
Please review yamaha clp series piano
Great, informative review as usual.
A review on the Kawai KDP110 in the future would be interesting.
I currently have a Kawai ES110 and love its portability and realism of piano sounds but would love the action of the ES8. I have an opportunity to purchase a second hand ES8 (and stand) for £900. Is the outlay worth it?
I love the slight shade thrown at Roland for their quantity over quality theme
Can anyone tell me why you would need a polyphony number higher than 88? How would you play more than 88 notes at once?
By watching again I noticed that there was also a extra note by the organ sounds. Just at the end. So something sticks? Don’t know but it just got my attention.
You did a video about this DP and the difference in sound between its speakers and when it's hooked up to a Roland amp. I've read that if you want quality sound (for home) it's better to use studio monitors. What do you think from your experience? Thank you.
Studio monitors can be nice, but like many things, you get what you pay for. Cheap monitors are usually not very good, and while the expensive ones are often nice, by definition they are expensive. I have had good experiences with Roland's keyboard amps, i use the KC350 (now the KC400), and these are better for a live situation if that's something you may be interested in doing.
James,a really good demo of a really fine DP. Would you please in future DP reviews play some. loud( fff) passages of classical music on the heaviest touch settings( i.e. make the DP ' roar' imitating Horowitz). Thanks, you are an awesome pianist- love your videos!!
Could you review the Kawai Aures? Best of both worlds I heard.
Next the Kawai ES 920 ???
Beautiful sound. Love the key off sample sounds, very realistic.
I agree, the ambient sounds (key off, pedal noise, etc. are just about perfect for a digital piano.
Great review! And I'm still very happy with my ES7 😊
I’m trying to remember all the classic, what essentially would be the electric keyboard boards you own. Of I suppose not just my youth or childhood. But if I was going to request a shoot out. I’d also at the very least would like a Yamaha DX7 which many of the keyboards you’ve reviewed including my own P-125 has. I do seem to recall you have both the stage & suitcase version of the Rhodes. Fairly certain you’ve shown the whirly.
Now that you’re starting to amass a sizable collection of EP/Stage pianos most of which have a Rhodes/Whirly/DX7. I’d love to see an all at once comparison of real vs sampled or however the different companies have captured that sound.
I’m sure there are some more “authentic” pop keyboards you as well as many of your fans can add to the battle. Has a company replicated a sound we like better than the original?
Had to get all that down before I forgot. Now back to the last half of this episode.
Funny you mention the action as something that could do with improvement, since that, next to the SK Concert grand sample, was the main reason I chose the instrument over a Yamaha or Roland piano. Mind you, it was a couple of years ago and I liked the MP11's action better, but that piano is just way too heavy for me.
What instruments in the same weight and price category have a better action in your opinion ?
Like I said, the action isn't terrible or a true deal-killer, just something that can be better for the price. I prefer the NWX action in the P515, it feels more authentic, higher quality, and is what I'd expect from a $1500 digital piano.
@@ThePianoforever I shall have to go and try the P515 then.... thank you for your response and your great videos!
Thank you! I like your reviews.
I’m looking for a Midi controller with 88 keys weighted action and after touch. Do have experience with midi controllers? I had bad experiences with Fatar and Studiologic controllers. They put Fatar keybeds into a lot of products: Nord stage, Native Instruments, Arturia. What do you think of Fatar keybeds?
I wasn't a fan of the Fatar action in the Stage 3. For synth and organ playing it would be fine but it wasn't very good for piano playing, and there was a flaw where when playing the same note quickly it would randomly play incredibly loud.
I have ordered a Crumar Seven which uses the Fatar TP-100 action from my understanding, and when that review comes along I will give you my opinions of it of course. I have high hopes for that instrument, hopefully the action won't be too disappointing.
Great video: You play so beautifully. :) Classical pianist here, looking for great action and sound, don't need bells/whistles. Play at home, no gigs, lots of recording and practicing. You walk in a room and want to just chill out and play some Schubert, say. Roland FP-90 or this? (Leaning greatly toward Roland FP-90. Reviews like this help so much when we can't actually get to music stores to try out keyboards during Covid.)
For a classical pianist my personal first choice has been and would be the Kawai MP11se. I owned a MP11 for years and recently sold it to upgrand to a MP11se. Love those keyboards.
14:49 what song is that?
one last time ariana grande
For me the action is very important. Nice video!
Does main piano samples es8 vs es110 are the same quality?
Pls answer.
Thanks
The ES8 shares the same samples as the MP11se and are far superior in quality to the ES110.
@@ThePianoforever thank you
I was told that the bounce imitated a grand piano. I purchased the ES8 for Classical Music :(. It gets the job done, but it is true about the gumminess, skipped note, and soft playing, though I would try playing the softer notes with the left pedal, and adjust the touch settings, it'll improve it somewhat (I use the IPAD connection into the Piano Tech!). I have posted videos of my amautuer playing of Beethoven's First and Second movements at the science pitch of C=256, and Kirnbeger Temperament, Well-Temperment. You can change the speed of the Whirly with the triple pedal.
It does indeed get the job done, and certainly isn't the worst action ever, but I think for the price point it should be better. With some small tweaks I think it could be amazing. I have not noticed many grand pianos that bounce in that manner, certainly not that much.
@@ThePianoforever Watch for Kawai's New ES8 which addresses the action issue, at least that is what I heard :) Thank You!!!!!
Thank you for a great review. I like that you really take your time during reviews. It's a long video but it gives a great insight.
Which song is it that you play at 9:34? I've heard you play it before, but I can't seem to find the name.
I’m a bit late but it’s just a piece he wrote for testing the bass
Hey james, I am in the market for stationary home digital pianoand I cant choose between a Yamaha CLP 645 or a kawai cn39. Just wanted to hear your honest opinion about the both of them
I have no experience with either of those instruments. Should I add them to the list? 😁
ThePianoforever yeah it’ll be wonderful to hear your thoughts. Thanks before
The P515 has the same action and sound as the CLP645, and the ES8 the same action as the CB 39, the somewhat lower sound. The true rival of the CLP 645 is the CA58, although the CA59 has just come out with improvements.
@@ThePianoforever No, because CLP-745 is just around the corner. ) The life cycle of CLP-6xx series is almost complete.
James, you keep.on buying keyboards, what do you do with them all? 🎶👍
great question xD
This is in the same price range as cn39, which one do you think is better for home use? in sound and build quality?
Love your videos! Very informative and insightful :)
I was wondering, would you consider reviewing the Nord Grand? I know it's very expensive, but it would be interesting to see how it compares with other digital pianos when it comes to sound and action specifically (I wonder how the Kawai action in the Nord stands up to the MP11SE). I'm also really interested in hearing what you think about hybrid pianos like the Yamaha N1/N3X or the Kawai Novus (do the action/sounds reflect the price difference when compared with "normal" digital pianos?)
Can you review the Yamaha MODX8
ES-920 is going to be ordered for myself.
I have a ES-920 on the way and should be reviewing it very soon.
@@ThePianoforever would love to hear a review between the ES520 and the ES920
You post very nice, argumented reviews, as you play so well. Can you tell which piece you play around 30 min. ? The one with 60Z piano + cathedral reverb ?
It's just something I wrote that sounds particularly good with that type of sound.
The issue you mentioned about the ‘double bounce’ when the key returns to the resting position was something I noticed on other Kawai actions as well-far more expensive ones. It’s what prevented me from buying a Kawai digital and another thing that just led me to buying an acoustic. If the Casios with the Bechstein action had the sound of the Kawais I might have bought one even though the action has no escapement. My school has older Kawai digitals that have nice long, wooden keys and they don’t have the issue. Their action actually has a similar feel to the Casio/Bechstein. Anyway, I’m not sure if that action will end up feeling better with age or not. The older high end Kawai actions were very good judging by the 25 or so I’ve played: no spongy bottom, no undamped return. They are a bit loud with everyone using headphones for practice, but they are nearly 10years old and you can bet all original parts. I definitely like those old Kawai more than my P121, but not by a huge margin. The Yamaha GHS is underrated IMO and I think that’s just due to its ubiquity among beginner/student keyboardists and enthusiasts’ desire to swim against the stream. I could be wrong about that, but it certainly feels pretty good. There are good reasons for its popularity: it’s not too pricey for practice, it’s easily transported for playing with friends or band practice, and it’s certainly capable of gigging. Anyway, several of the new(ish) Kawai actions bothered me for the same reason. The same issues actually exist on my 121, just to a far lesser degree than the Kawai. If I didn’t have a real piano in the next room, it wouldn’t bother me at all. Still I’m thankful to have the real thing... for the sound, the feel, and even the look.
What other models of Kawai have this issue? I doubt the MP11SE or anything else that uses the Grand Feel action would have the bounce problem, they're the best action in a slab piano these days and come very close to the feel of an acoustic piano.
ThePianoforever, it’s been a few years, but I believe it was a CA98. Not a cheap model at all (over $5,000) and the sales lady said it was Kawai’s best digital action and it definitely had what you describe. I believe it is a GrandFeel 2. The bottom of the key travel was very spongy (so are the Steinway at school. Definitely a different “spongy” but I dislike it equally), and the resting position had a pronounced double bounce that made a noise just like the review model. The longer I played it, the more it drove me nuts.
Should I get this or the Korg SV2-88S?
I’ve got an order for the SV2 that I’m waiting for, but I’m getting impatient
Depends what you want. Are you looking for a good acoustic piano sound? This has the better acoustic pianos. Do you want electric pianos and vintage sounds? Then the SV2 wins for sure (although the ES8 sounds good too).
Also between the two, I prefer the Korg RH3 action to Kawai's RHIII.
ThePianoforever rats. It looks like I’m going to stick with the SV2 order and hope it comes in soon. The qualms about the action of this piano are a huge red flag. And on Clare De Lune which is a motivating song to learn the keys in the first place.
Thank you for your response- I’m just really eager to get into it!
Would you recommend the ES8 or the P-515
While playing around with Kawai, also make sure to play around with the MP7se.. its a steal.. and more advanced the. The ES8. No speakers, but also cheaper. And whats even better, the same master keyboard functionality as the MP11
Which song is it that you play at 9:34?
I really want to know too. I love the melody.
Kawai MP7SE review, please?
Would love your tale on Dexibell kbds
Thank you. What is your opinion on the Korg D1?
Honestly it's hard to say, because I've never played or seen one in the flesh. I have seen many examples of broken ones however (and when I went to order one the supplier told me they had three broken ones and that was it), so I think there may be some structural issues with the body and framework of it.
@@ThePianoforever Thank you! That is very useful. Haven't been able to find one myself but was thinking about ordering it blind due to the low price point and reviews of the action but will probably hold off then. Seriously, thanks for all the amazing content.
Why are there no reviews or even mention of the Yamaha P155 anywhere?
Because the Yamaha P155 is a very old keyboard. Kyle Landry used to use it, it's a very nice keyboard th-cam.com/video/EMCDsvH_RF8/w-d-xo.html
Blue Essence I mean it came out many years ago.
P155 is really old, it's discontinued. It's replaced P255, which is recenly replaced by P515.
Roland LX-708?? ...Please review
I really hope you review one of Yamaha's silent grands. I was looking into them the other day as an option for apartment, but unfortunately there aren't many unbiased reviews out there on youtube.
Though I've been banging about wanting to hear a Bill Evans sound on these keyboards, I also realize it's also going to be about the post production in the recording. Evans doesn't sound quite the same live, whether a video in Europe in the middle ages, or a live album. So, maybe I should concern myself with being able to EQ the sound myself, although that wouldn't be a bad idea to have some programmable eq on these boards. My other challenge still stands, finding any keyboard, even a B-3, and getting it to sound like Walter Wanderly.....I don't know what he did, but nobody else had his organ sound....
I just found a stupendous bargain on this piano, 40% cheaper than all other retailers + free shipping, no idea why, but i aint complaining, i was considering the es110, but now i feel like the smart thing to do is to upgrade right away, pay a little extra to get somthing a little extra.
New model coming out very soon.
Thanks james, I follow all your videos. I learned a lot about sound, quality and how to test the instrument.
Love the channel. Please make a review of Roland Juno DS88.
Cheers,
Diego
I have that one lol
Great review of a great instrument. Ours shares a room with a Yamaha upright acoustic piano. They are both wonderful. My son also feels that the action is somewhat heavy. Have you tried a lighter setting or playing with the tone curves?
