Dock talk is like poison ivy in how It spreads. It had me in a “fishing funk” for a good period, until I shut off the “outside noise”. Now history is another beast within itself, so much so that during a tournament I had a spot where I caught multiple twenty-pound bags and decided I could do it again.….. Whomp…whomp…whomp…….wrong. And I was wrong in a big way where I put all my eggs in one basket and stayed there the majority of the day feeling it was a timing thing.
Thanx Mike. Tournament fishing is a high like no other. From launch to every hook set to hauling ass back to the dock, I'm pumped. Bass fishing is great but tournaments are f ing awesome. I use to fish for anything that swims until I fished my first tournament. Now all I want to catch is bass.
Dude u started this channel out of a rental John boat!!! Wtf I didn’t know that!!! U should make a video w some old footage from back in the day and some sappy reflective music!!! That’s a great story man, happy for you, you deserve it!!!
Agree with a lot of . Being able to adapt on the fly, knowing when to leave and move and find em..the dock talk is a key one used to get in my head some . I’ve learned to trust My instincts and it seems to help.
Awesome video. I just dealt with this yesterday. Fishing the Winter Haven Chain, have been sitting on 15-17lbs for 2 weeks. Derby day comes, and I tried to force a bite that had died or moved on. Tight lines!
Dude you hit the nail on the head. I got my first two W’s last year and it was mainly confidence and I’d add time management. I dialed in one pattern and I got my hypotheses but they wouldn’t start firing until 1230-1 on top water so I had basically 5-6 hours to fish for better fish and just wait it out until the time was right and it was game on. The second win was in an ABA and I had to lock to where I was fishing. The first day I was the last boat. I had time to kill but used it to catch one key fish. Day two I was boat #1 and I booked it to the lock. I don’t wanna be that guy but I lost 4 or 5 good fish and thought I blew it. I had what I thought was 15 lbs. I was 3rd going into day two and knew I’d be up there but didn’t think I’d win. I didn’t want to push it and I felt like I milked my area and didn’t want to miss a check getting stuck at the lock. I left early abs thank god I did. My buddy stayed 20 minutes longer than I did and got stuck behind 10 pontoon boats in a lock that could only fit 2-3 boats. He was an hour late. I ended up with 17 and that chain was fishing tough. As boats keep coming in I was like “no f***ing way am I going to win this” the two guys in front of me stumbled and it was just my time
Ahhhah I love that second story, I had the same feeling when I've won stuff. Like no way really itvworked!?!? Props on the W"s man and thanks for the stories!
My mentor that got me into the tournament scene told me this and I’ll never forget it. It’s not me vs you or any other guy, it’s you vs the fish. That’s where blocking out the dock talk and confidence comes in along with flexibility.
Hey Mikey, who’s a good guide/ person to get a trip on Okeechobee with. I’m trying to learn that lake, just started fishing it and it’s big.. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated 💪🏻
You don't have no balzz if u don't bring this boat to the coosa.. year 6 of trying to get Mikey to come down an chase the REAL COOSA SPOTTED DOGS. An they're chomping right now
