    As an investment property owner, and-of course a landlord/property manager as well; I renovate and offer furnished suites for rent.
    I’m a big fan of fixed in furniture. And always adding sitting area and tables, where I can. Makes for a better staged house; for future showings. And the less movable furniture, the tidier :)
    This bench DIY, was just the fixture project I need, to fill a cubby space under a window, just pass the entry way closet🙌
    Thanks for the vid !

      It's because they have been doing this for years, and you collect tools over time. Check out 'Steve Ramsey - Woodworking for mere Mortals' for a list of basic minimum tools.

      Glad to help. Dados may take more time to make but a stronger and cleaner look is accomplished.

      @Nate Large - Woodworking DIY & More I ended up adding drawers and using aromatic Cedar for the top and drawer faces. Still one of my favorite working projects ive ever done. thanks

    Would have been easier to cut the dado and rabbits for top and bottom before cutting the wood down so you know they would line up correctly. Nice piece!

    What are the measurements for your cubby bench?

  • @Grumpy718
    @Grumpy718 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow great work !! I love it . I saw you use a bosch plunge router, which I have but I was wondering what router bit did you use for the rabbets and dados?

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a standard straight bit. The shank or width was less then 3/4", requiring two passes to get to the exact width for a snug fit.

    Hi I’m Evelyn, I just subscribed to your channel. I’ve been looking for a cubby bench to replace the legs of my sofa it’s a twin size click clack sofa the converts into a bed. I love your bench. Is there anyway to add a bench like that under my sofa to lift it off the floor and use for storage?

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think an idea like that is possible. Just got to build it big and strong.

  • @robynr
    @robynr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could something like this be made without adding the groves/ channeling that the dividers go into? Just flat wood on top of itself, of course with nails/ screws.

    Why not router the Dado`s while the sheet is still in one piece, then cut your panel sections to be sure the dados line up perfectly

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Making a large board smaller and then removing the dado is they way it is done. Doing it the other way would be putting the cart before the horse. Start by removing the the most material then go to moving less material not less then more.

    • @sleevesgaragemoments2931
      @sleevesgaragemoments2931 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natelarge I understand it's easier to work with smaller materials, I assumed you wouldn't have to worry about doing precisely measured distances between dados on 3 sperate boards would simplify the process that's all... Thanks for the insight though

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. I like they way you think. Efficiency is number 2 to me right after safety. I probably should not rule out your suggestion so fast. I will keep it in mind the next time I'm ripping boards and cutting dados.
