John Gallagher Jr. plays the ukulele and honestly if that's not the cutest goddamn thing you've ever seen than I don't know what is also the harmonies in this song are beautiful and the clapping was such a nice touch
This gives me the warm fuzzies and captures what I love about New York. That there is such raw talent and there's a beyond endearing quality about that original cast.
in some ways, that could be a better experience than seeing the show. Of course seeing the show is completely priceless, but seeing the cast interact with each other like a family, as the cast not the characters would be AMAZING.
@cyrodilicbrandy Whats funny is I know that girl with the white mug that gets stared down lol, I was at an open call for this show a few years back and she was there she use to street team for the show and she auditioned multiple times haha she is a SUPER FAN. But i must admit that look she gave her was hilarious!
@KatherineLupin They were on the streets b/c all of the stage hands went on strike, but their union rules stated that they have to show up for at least an hour: hence the reason we get this video :)
Yep, and he was a swing (he understudied all the boys but Melchior)/ensemble member. I'm pretty sure it's him who announces that he'll take Otto's part because Brian wasn't around -- he sang Otto's part in the Bitch of Living videos from the strike, also.
@gwren611 *new youtube account* Yeah, I'm positive. I saw the OBC and she's just a stranger. Wow though, It's been so long since I've seen this, and it's just as funny.
I know this is a 5 year old question, but it was a strike held in 2007 by a group of stagehands working on various Broadway shows. Not all casts from shows affected by the strike did this, the Spring Awakening cast is the only one I know for sure came outside to do performances and had food, coffee etc on nights when their show was off because of the strike.
@inickberke hahaha I know I just noticed that! However much I love the singing, I pretty much was just watching Christine Estabrook (the adult women) and that random the whole time.. classic.
well kinds depends on where you live because where i live it was not talked about at all and the only way i found ot about it was the internet. I live in michigan though so its not close to new york or anything.
@ErosOfAchilles my issue was the fact that they were implying she was black therefore she was loud... not that they were identifying her because she happens to be the only black person in the group.
lmfao at about 0:26 Christine starts giving dirty looks to that random singing girl and looking behind at one of the cast members or someone like "wtf?". then she rolls her eyes and walks over to Gallagher, still looking confused. hahaha
@twttwty it's all good that you're black.. that doesn't mean your comment didn't sound racist. just because someone is the same race as you doesn't mean you can't be racist against them. i also didn't know people could "look" loud? because i could've sworn loud was a kind of volume, and i definitely didn't HEAR her being loud.
my MANS John Gallagher Jr. just SHREDDING it on the ukulele. what a God.
John Gallagher Jr. plays the ukulele and honestly if that's not the cutest goddamn thing you've ever seen than I don't know what is
also the harmonies in this song are beautiful and the clapping was such a nice touch
I couldn't agree more
I love Christine Estabrook's expression when she stands next to the girl not in the cast, realizes she's singing and then she moves.
Five years ago, I posted this video on facebook to honor the closing date anniversary of the show. Crazy!
when JGJ goes "This is the part I don't know" and then starts clapping, I don't know why, but that just cracks me up every time!
This gives me the warm fuzzies and captures what I love about New York. That there is such raw talent and there's a beyond endearing quality about that original cast.
Even offstage the whole cast is phenominal...I just love them all. Such talent.
wow i love how they can just go out there w/o a piano and sing it all accapela and so perfect!
My dood John Just jamming out with that damn ukulele deserves so much love
This sounds amazing! Even more so when he stops playing the guitar, just because a capella music is so beautiful when it's done properly!
I've seen these videos a million times. Never get sick of them. Love these kids.
Nothing like standing in the cold, rocking out with a ukelele XD
1:03 that, youtube people, is why i love him... ♥♥♥
“THIS PART I DONT KNOW”
in some ways, that could be a better experience than seeing the show. Of course seeing the show is completely priceless, but seeing the cast interact with each other like a family, as the cast not the characters would be AMAZING.
1:45. best thing of my life. i think you guys are awesome for doing this.
"This part I don't know..." *clap clap clap* lolz. So awesome!

@cyrodilicbrandy Whats funny is I know that girl with the white mug that gets stared down lol, I was at an open call for this show a few years back and she was there she use to street team for the show and she auditioned multiple times haha she is a SUPER FAN. But i must admit that look she gave her was hilarious!
imagine that they still sounded good even if they're like you know, just having fun.
He is Jim Harper on The Newsroom, and the actor's name is John Gallagher Jr.

ME TOO that is one of my favorite parts

So adorable. Thank you so much for sharing.
That's Drew Tyler Bell. He was a replacement Hanschen for a couple of weeks while Jonny B Wright was out if I'm remembering correctly.

@KatherineLupin They were on the streets b/c all of the stage hands went on strike, but their union rules stated that they have to show up for at least an hour: hence the reason we get this video :)
it really does.
Yep, and he was a swing (he understudied all the boys but Melchior)/ensemble member. I'm pretty sure it's him who announces that he'll take Otto's part because Brian wasn't around -- he sang Otto's part in the Bitch of Living videos from the strike, also.

@gwren611 *new youtube account*
Yeah, I'm positive. I saw the OBC and she's just a stranger. Wow though, It's been so long since I've seen this, and it's just as funny.
OMG. Is he playing the 'ukulele?!! that's awesome!!
LMAO!!!
guy with the huge camera rocks!
lol. spring awakening geeks are my favorites.
What's Broadway Local One Strike?? Do all show do these random performances for ppl walking outside the theatre??
I know this is a 5 year old question, but it was a strike held in 2007 by a group of stagehands working on various Broadway shows. Not all casts from shows affected by the strike did this, the Spring Awakening cast is the only one I know for sure came outside to do performances and had food, coffee etc on nights when their show was off because of the strike.
lmao yeah! you tell em Zuri!
I love the random people walking on the other side of the street..they have no idea whats going on haha
that's exactly what i thought!!
Does anyone know the chords he's playing on the uke?
bahaha. i love this.
haha i love how john g. is playing this little tiny guitar. XD
truly amazing.
if you go on myspace and search word of your body reprise, the person who has that video also has pleanty of other spring awakening videos. enjoy.
I think you're seeing Drew Tyler Bell.
Is that Robert Patinson standing behind John?
@inickberke hahaha I know I just noticed that! However much I love the singing, I pretty much was just watching Christine Estabrook (the adult women) and that random the whole time.. classic.
That guy on the right DOES look Robert Pattinson!
@watrxcoolerxromance lol.... thats cool. never heard that one before.
It's TOTALLY Gerard.
@Glee4EVA1000 the actors weren't on strike but this was during the writer's strike so their show was shut down.
well kinds depends on where you live because where i live it was not talked about at all and the only way i found ot about it was the internet. I live in michigan though so its not close to new york or anything.
guys, she played Martha, the other one is the understudy/ensemble
I think that's Carol Pittleman, one of the producers of the show's wife.
Really?
Oh, well, I love Blake, also
UAO!
Is that Austin Clay from the Breaking Dawn Parody?
The Guilty Ones.
its a fansite for spring awakening fans.
TGO for short =)
hahah you guys that was Skylar Astin
:P
can anybody post the actual scene from the musical? pls anyone i would really appreciate it
Actually, in another video, you can see that it's actually Skylar Astin saying that.
Who is the tall guy at the left?
No, Groff and Lea weren't there. Groff was shooting a pilot for TV and I don't know where Lea was haha
@fashiongurlie300 thank you
Well, JG jr's the one playing guitar, so probably him ;)
@christopherdrewchick that is not Robert P. It just looks like him
@ErosOfAchilles my issue was the fact that they were implying she was black therefore she was loud... not that they were identifying her because she happens to be the only black person in the group.
Lmao at sklar and then JGJ with the ukelele
who is the guy who looks like Edward cullen
lol
Austin Clay is my guess based off other comments
lmfao at about 0:26 Christine starts giving dirty looks to that random singing girl and looking behind at one of the cast members or someone like "wtf?". then she rolls her eyes and walks over to Gallagher, still looking confused. hahaha
who are the other 2?
@twttwty still, everyone says she "looks" loud. you can't "look" loud.
Thats Zuri! Not some random fan lmao.
a fellow TGO member
@twttwty it's all good that you're black.. that doesn't mean your comment didn't sound racist. just because someone is the same race as you doesn't mean you can't be racist against them.
i also didn't know people could "look" loud? because i could've sworn loud was a kind of volume, and i definitely didn't HEAR her being loud.
Oh Skylar.
I like their street version better than the recording!
John
gaaah!
what were the strike..for/against
haha I know two of the people there!
besides the cast..haha
