Right after this, they started asking around if any of the Forrester men were the father. Ridge was the FIRST person they asked. Ridge just cool and calmly said, "It's not me." Brooke couldn't name any other man as the father because Deacon was the only man that knew and she couldn't name him without causing a huge scandal but there seemed to be no way out. Whip could tell that Brooke did not want to name the father, so he stood up and said it was him, allowing Brooke to dodge a huge bullet.
The reporters first suspected that Ridge was the father. This is what was said; Reporter: Ridge, is there anything that you want to say? Ridge: No. This has got nothing to do with me. So if anyone wonders if the press thinks Ridge is Hope's biological father to this day, they don't because he told them, himself that he isn't.
