- Violence in the workplace, like retail theft, is becoming more common. Now, a bill in the capitol aims to curb that - by requiring employees across California to receive training and prohibit employers from making staff, that are not security guards, confront suspects.

A bill that basically says to thieves "go forth and steal because nobody can legally stop you."

Here is a simple solution: allow armed guards at the stores and don't allow the local DA to prosecute if they used their weapons in defense of property.
The system would never allow for that many white ppl to be deleted over property. After a week of looking at the VOLUME of white ppl turned off, they would end your policy quick fast💯

I've been seeing videos of employers firing employees who do take measures to stop thieves and they get fired. What this bill should do is prevent employees from being fired for doing the right thing. The government is always out of touch with reality.

@@rainbow1021longer prolonged sentences has actually been proven not to work.. prime example would be portugal who decriminalized the use of drugs and have had a decrease use in drugs. Also another example would be Norway where the maximum sentence is 25 years and it has been proven that their Rehabilitation model of prisoning is effective with second time offenders being at a very low percentage

Deterrence through tougher legal punishment doesn't work. It never has, and never will. The only effective way to slow retail theft is to have large, well trained, hands on AP teams.
Virtual shopping!!! Picture cards or kiosks to buy an item. Warehouse to deliver item or really secured cabinet locker in back to remove items. Lock key or key cellphones to read bar codes to open locker with police notification to alert authorities. For groceries stores you can close the store to customers order on an app and the employees will shop and bring them out. Security cards to enter and security at the door to stop those that want to storm the castle. Door dash has a place like this. No customers just dashers to pick up but have no access tho to go inside.
They allow this so you will beg for their solution when they created the problem, they have the magic solution but it will come at a huge price!!!!

Stores don’t want to pay for competent security, they just want the government to fix it. Years ago was shopping in Ross with my teenage son the security guard followed us around and stared at him intensely. He was laughing and I asked him why. He said he’d tell me when we left the store. When we got outside my son said that while the security guard was staring at him, behind his back a grown man put on three button up shirts and walked out of the store. Retailers can whine all day for the government to fix their problems, or they can pay what good security is worth.
