You're right about what Ford will charge you for a new crankshaft pully. I simply went to the junkyard and got one in damm good shape for 13 dollars. Lol
I had an 05 ultimate with every option minus heated rear seats. Got it with 35k miles. Only problem I had were coils, had it from summer 08 to fall 2010. I loved the car to death. Regret trading it in for an MKS. The handling and the way the car felt was amazing.
BrooklynRE yea it kinda was one of them if you see it you better get it opportunities. Runs perfect of course needs a few things but just normal maintenance because it sat. Brakes and rotors needs a hub bearing. I don’t like that it was lowered so I’m trying to find springs to put on it but those are slim picking may go to pull a part and get shocked off one.
I had just bought all the rear bushings for my 06 but just sold it 5 weeks ago. Cars are badass and very fast but a costly car to own. Had it for 5 years had 70k on it and it looked brand new. I loved that car but it was expensive to own.
My Lincoln has been a good car for 3 years and they can be good cars when every thing is running right. However the moment parts start going out it seems like everything goes out. The parts aren't cheap because they discontinued my model which is a 02 and I think there's a few other models that were also discontinued but I'm not sure about those. So anytime you get a part it has to be ordered. Then if you do all your work yourself like I do then you know the way they pack everything in the car so tight it can be a bitch to get to certain areas when changing out a part. I love a v8 but it takes up a lot of room.
So I bought my LS a couple days ago! Got an 04 with less than 100,000 miles, mint interior and almost mint exterior for $2900! Anyway it was squirrel driving home at highway speed. Sure enough i climbed under and the passenger side sway bar end link was broken completely off the sway bar! You weren't kidding! Lol putting new ones on in the morning.
Hey it’s been a while, I meant to come back sooner. I bought an LS and your video is 100% dead on. Mine ended up having a bad harmonic balancer that I still haven’t replaced, bad coolant tank, the upper rad hose loses pressure and my sway bar end links were broken and the ball joints were the worse I ever saw. It also doesn’t hold refrigerant but that’s just a common issue in all older cars. I’m considering posting it up for sale. I love it but it’s just sitting, I never drive it.

Appreciate the Video. I inherited a 2005 V8 Sport; IT needs the end link bushings, Tie rod ends etc.. Did not knw about the Harmonic Balancer. Currently monitoring other stuff.. I like the car .. the 50/50 RWD design makes sense; However, it's hard to work on.. May use some Jaguar S Type / Type R Upgrades for part replacements..
Got an 05 LSE v8. Rear lower control arm is making noise now. Bushing looks intact but I need a recommendation for lubricatant that I can spray into it without removing the bushing.
I used Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray on my rear bushings. Seemed to last long enough. I would spray them when I swapped my summer rims for the winter rims. Only the driver's side made noise on my car for some reason.
My 01 LS was a pain in the ass, things I had to replace. Fuel pump, coils, valve cover gaskets, secondary timing chains and tensioners, upper/lower control arms, tie rods, rack and pinion, thermostat housing and I'm probably forgetting something.
I , wanted one of these and paid cash..it looked great and was a v-8 loaded, it lasted a year, I know it was a 2004, the leaks and cracks took a toll on me and I got it too a Ford dealership and bought a malibu, the hard plastic busted, and it over heated ever day...they gave me a 1000 for it, which they actually stole this car from me.....
I just picked up an 05 v8 and didn’t realize how bad it was until afterwards… 1200 bucks (of parts alone) later it’s mostly safe to drive now. Realizing most of the parts aren’t available anymore, plus the extreme cost of the parts that are, really left a bad taste in my mouth… the problem is that I’ve invested a lot of time into replacing parts and I’m going to get my miles worth out of it!
Thanks for the video! By the way, I am thinking buying the 2000 ls sedan v8 that has already 177k miles on it for 2,500, Do you think it is worth to buy? And it says the only issues is needs to do the realignment and brake pads soon! Is that parts too expensive to replace?
Thoughts on swapping a Lincoln LS early 2000s V8 into a drift car any comments would be great as I can get the motor for super cheap but I'm wary because I have never worked with this motor before and no not too much about it
I know it's an old comment but my guess would be it's not a terrible idea, but not a great one either. These engines are plenty of power bit all low end grunt (they make most peak torque at 2000 rpm. And they are short stroked variants compared to the jag bodied cars. You'd probably want something that likes higher rpms for the sweet spot.
If you can get it for near free. And you know the chain tentioners have been swapped for the version 3 metal ones for timing chain tentioners… or if you want to swap them out. It’s a Jaguar S Typemcar basically and I know the jags have issues with original chain tentioners Pre 2002-2004 ish
Ford is all about some bad bushings. I’m guessing this is from extra soft rubber from the factory which gives it that nice ride quality. Fast forward a 100,000 miles later and you need all new bushings all the way around.
I found this video after picking up an LS… already put 700 into suspension parts and did the labor myself…. Then all new tires because the old suspension ruined the old tires… and the advancetrac is still giving me issues that I thought would go away after fixing the suspension….. … just don’t buy an LS… seriously… most of the parts aren’t available anymore, and the ones that are cost triple what they should. Save your hard earned money for something else!
Steven 2gen not really sure, but I'm pretty sure the parts are going to be expensive. You can go on ford's website and but parts off of there, or just to find the part numbers.
@skimthechannel I know this is a old thread but for anyone still hunting answers for they're 03-06 LS. Sometimes the ears that hold the thermostat in its place inside the housing will break off. Test you thermostat sometimes it will seize up on the copper shaft that it slides on to open. I tested mine and it only opened 3 outta 8 times which makes it appear to work when its actually failing. Also make sure your auxiliary coolant pump isnt loose and pulling downward pressure on your thermostat housing. When it gets hot this will cause the top of the housing to flex and let air in between the two bolts that holds it together. They routed those auxiliary hoses on the wrong side of the AC line and if your aux pumps loose it causes unnecessary downward pressure on the thermostat housing causing it to open just enough to let air in. Depending on what brand of water pump you have check the fan inside it, it maybe turning on the shaft and not cooling correctly. Also there is a coolant line that runs under your intake take a flashlight and make sure its not leaking antifreeze under your intake. Check your degas bottle for pressure cracks. Check your idler pulley if its weak it could be letting your belt slip on the water pump pulley causing coolant to flow slower than it should. Hope this helps anyone chasing mysterious overheating problems with theyre LS as it could be one or a combination of all these things so check your system really good before you go and spend all that money replacing everything im sure youll find whats causing your overheating.
