As a young kid decades and decades ago, I was introduced to a small three piece band and had the time of my life. Plus a crush on a girl named Joani (the best spelling I can come up with :) My parents had a cabin in California amongst the great redwood trees. This was in the 50's, I think that tells you about how old I am. Because I was influenced at such a young age with the accordion at those barn dances. It is something special that I'll never forget. I love all kinds of acoustical guitar and from time to time enjoy listening the shred guitar by the likes of Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix etc! But because I was so influenced at a tender ago of 10 or so. to Beer Barrel Polka, Mexican Hat Dance etc. My heart melts and yearns to go back in time of those Saturday nights and walking to the barn dance after the open air show! Now this precious time is gone there. But it can't erase the innocence, the joy, the FUN. As a fingerpicking guitar player who has played for a very long time, I see a great motion by SO many young guitarists to spend their lives perfecting metal guitar and no matter how many thousands of these young guitars are so good. They still dedicate their lives night and day to impress the youtube fans of their amazing skill. But they were never introduced to a music way back when the older and younger both had a ball. And the accordionist with the other two members of the band just wanted to see the people have a great time. It was not a look at me and see how great I am and all the attention should be on me! But true smiles of joy and delight and having a terrifically great time playing and watching the dancers and bystanders have great fun to! But now the wholesome music seems to be lost in North American culture, but someday maybe young kids well have fun with some happy dancing and not just how cool you can be ! Even Elvis sung a song called "Wooden Heart". Which as I grow older and love to play ! I guess that won't be very popular amongst the perfectionist shredders of the electric guitar!
