This was a big disappointment but atleast it had a good steamer. The only person that should buy this is if you want a super automatic with a traditional steam wand.

When you made the espresso, you selected 2 oz. I'm assuming you wanted a double out of it? For Gaggia supers you need to use the double option on the top right in the espresso options. Increasing the volume to 2oz just gives you an espresso lungo - hence the watery result. Still, 10s is way too fast even for a single. Needs to be better dialed in. I can get mine to pull a single in ~20s, which is a much better result. The brew mechanism is only really designed to give single shots, so you need to just run 2 using that option. Dialing in a Gaggia super is a bit of a pain, but once you get it done right, which isn't straight forward, they can pull some pretty good shots very consistently. As others mentioned, the way to get it to save your changes in settings is to acknowledge saving the new setting immediately after it completes the brewing of the shot you just made changes to. It will save all changes and make that the new default.

What’s your recommended settings to pull a 20s shot?

I have had this machine at home for about a year now. Agree with all you comments... quite a few negatives, but worse is how the flimsy build has eventually become a real nuisance. Operation is halted constantly by a signal to close the door/flap on the right which accesses the brewing mechanism - presumably it has warped slightly as it is so thin. You end up standing by the machine with a finger on the flap to get your coffee. The grinder also failed completely and needed replacing. Wish we had bought another Brera which is still working well after 10 years service at our little hotel.

Yeah so strange I have heard good things about the Brera so idk this seems so strange especially for more money

About the saving thing, mine asks after it's done brewing if I want to keep the new settings. Then it saves just fine, including ml.

Interesting yeah mine doesn’t do that I wonder if it’s just a faulty unit

Hello friend, I live in Turkey and I bought the Gaggia Magenta Milk model last week. Since this is my first fully automatic coffee machine, I am not very experienced in this regard. I was not at all satisfied with the temperature of the coffee in the machine during the 1-week usage period. In my measurements, I saw that even at the hottest setting, the temperature of the coffee coming out of the machine was 69-70 degrees Celsius. In the review of a much cheaper Philips model than my device, I saw that the user was getting 82 degrees Celsius coffee from the machine at the hottest setting. Frankly, this situation surprised me and turned me off a little from my own machine. What should I do? Could this be a manufacturing defect? Should I return the device? I would appreciate it if you could give me information on what the ideal temperature should be based on your experience. greetings 🙋

I think that’s the way the machine is unfortunately. I’m also very unimpressed with this one

Not a great review as most of his comments are petty annoyances maybe only he feels are justified, as I don’t find them an issue at all. I’ve had a Gaggia Anima Deluxe for 7 years and it’s very similar to this model and has brewed full bodied, flavorful espresso consistently for 7 years. My only complaint with the Anima was that I couldn’t quite get the perfect cappuccino froth I wanted. So I moved to this model and it has the best steam wand I’ve ever used in a super automatic machine. Also espresso extraction shouldn’t just be gauged by “10 seconds” as it all depends upon brew strength based on grams of coffee being used as well as the grind setting. This needs to be dialed in and adjusted over the course of a few runs so the machine adjusts. After having super automatics for the past 25 years of my life, I would say this is one of the best ones and is a great value for only $600. I would purchase at Whole Latte Love as they stand by their products, are very knowledgeable and have tons of tutorials on setting up the machine, fixing it if you ever need to, and ordering parts and accessories.

I have been looking for an espresso machine. I have looked at the Gaggia Magenta Prestige. I have been curious if the espresso it brews taste as good as a semi automatic one where you grind your own beans. Does the espresso taste good or weak compared to a gaggia classic Evo pro?

No super automatic will ever taste as good as a semi or automatic espresso machine. Super automatics use a pressurized filter basket and semi/automatic espresso machines use non pressurized filter baskets it makes a huge difference in taste and mouth feel. The best espresso from a super automatic I have tasted yet comes from the Delonghi magnifica.

I have the Oster Prima Latte... I know... But for me it's okay... I was really thinking on spending 650usd to buy this Gaggia.... 😂 But now no way.
Thanks mate. I though about the Gaggia classic... But I don't want to prepare coffee the same way I did (Prima latte)...
Anyway you save me 650 💵

Joe - love the channel but you didn’t do this one justice. I have this machine and I think you should do this review again with the proper functions:
    1. Settings - you set your settings initially and if you change them for the next cup, it will ask if you want to save this adjustment when done. You can say no in the chance you made modifications for a friend visiting or something like that. That’s why yours didn’t save after each cup.
    2. Drip tray - the small insert is meant to be a raised platform for espresso. It clips in higher up to reduce splashing. You had it set for regular coffee cup and not raised.
    3. grinder - per the instructions it takes at least 10
Cups for the machine to learn your settings, including new grind sizes. You didn’t give it enough to realize the benefits of a finer grind
    4. Buttons - i agree here, but once you get used to it, it’s not an issue
This machine is a very reliable machine once set up properly. It’s steam wand is what led me to this unit, and it actually is made well despite the plastic shell.

I think I was extra harsh on this one mostly because I was coming from some better machines for less money or the same price which tainted this review
