Ok so I want to do exactly this but I want to do it wirelessly. I’d like to be able to collect that data, in realtime, from upwards of 400ft away. Preferably keeping the accelerometer and WiFi transmitter in as small a package as possible. Is that possible?
You could use it for a rudimentary form of head tracking, but a more effective device for that would be an inertial measurement unit with 6 degrees of freedom. That would include an accelerometer and a gyroscope making a much more accurate tracking for things like rolling and turning your head.

ATM I am utilising a PS3 Eye toy camera I fitted some VHS cassette tape to the lens (IR MODE) and it picks up leds however very bootleg version and it not as practical as that unit attached to the say the headphones outer ear. Right so looking at all these I see there are all the way to 9 axis as for all the head movements not required it’s only for in game cameras not actual 3D modelling however I will be doing that at some point too with this I’m sure haha ok so we are really theorising a possibility here
