I went to a haunted house sort of thing a while back, and they had something very similar to the vortex tunnel! It was very trippy. It felt like I was tilting while I was walking, even though I was not moving at all. It was crazy! I highly recommend doing something like that.

The two shades of grey are two shades, it's hard to tell, but I was born with the ability to see extra shades of color that most people can't. Idk what it's called, but while most people see around 30 specific colors on the light spectrum, I see about 50, that's 20 extra colors. And I can confirm those two are different shades.
This was one of my favorites from this channel and I thought the Barrier Grid Animation was extremely amazing and wasn't shocked it was used in 1890....but I bet it actually dates even further back in history 💯 👍👍

For the "illusion" at 8:12, they are a different color. They're only the same if you compare the shaded part of the bottom half to the illuminated part of the top half. You would have to compare the two under the same illumination. Since it's rendered/drawn in such a way to show that there is intended shading, we're looking at the light grey of the top half and the white of the bottom half, or the dark grey of the top half and the light grey of the bottom half. Those are the colors we would compare, shading-wise.

But from the shadowing, the top half is light grey and the bottom half is supposed to be white. Those are the two colors of the illuminated parts of the object. The shaded portion of the top half is dark grey and the shaded portion of the bottom half is light grey. You're comparing the illuminated part of the top half and the shadow on the bottom half. You have to compare the colors that are under the same lighting/shading.
Plus the background on the lighter one is darker and on the top 1 that appears to be darker the background is a lighter color which adds to the illusion

I worked at a haunted theme park and they had that spinning room and when I was setting up the place I was actually able to go through before the railings were put up not the smartest thing but man does that mess with your equilibrium I felt dizzy after going through it. Helping build the place I actually was able to act there. And apparently there is a girl that sits in there all night there's no trick about it I just don't know how she doesn't get extremely motion sickness.
I love illusions and what not but at 9:18 w the grey top and white bottom....I put my finger across the split line and the bottom did not change from white....

However, just because he's very technical about his narratives, may I point out that the arm illusion artist does not "literally" work her fingers to the bone, rather she "seemingly" does so, or "APPEARS to literally work her fingers to the bone". Narration from a few illusions after that confirms that he is pretty detail oriented about providing correct info so my pointing this out is hopefully understood to be well intended.
I love seeing what people that are creative AND talented can accomplish. I'm pretty creative and can think up cool things, I just have zero talent at bringing that thought to reality so it really just sits in my mind. Probably why I still have a normal career doing normal things and getting on social media to live vicariously through talented folks. 😂
