Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
I have watched several videos of this reel in comparison to others, like the SLX DC for example. You have done an excellent job showing this reel’s abilities. Also, setting #4 is also for high wind conditions. Good job! And nice bowfin!
@ 3:42 about the thumb bar. I purchased one of these and it did have this problem, after about 3 hours of frogging, the thumb bar would stick and it was quite annoying.. I returned it and got a replacement and its worked great so far!
I really think you guys are honest you use gear to it’s full potential and I don’t think you would lie if a product sucked or didn’t work as it was intended. I think other channels would just say it’s awesome for endorsement and money.
I assume you leave the brake at factory setting as these reels are not made to change brake settings. Only time you adjust brake is if the spool is shifting left or right and has gotten off the factory setting. Having said that, what settings beween 1 and 4 on the left side of the reel do you use for both pitching and flipping?
Thank's for the awesome review bro now i'm pretty much confident to buy this reel after a lot review from other youtubers...soon i'm gonna buy this reel for next target...
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
My four just showed up on Thursday morning too bad I will not get a chance to try it out until next week. As bad as I want to try them out I will not go out in 100 + degree temperature. I definitely do like the sound. I remember the first time hearing it and thought that it had a bad bearing. That is what Drew my attention over to the demonstration. If they work as well as they did in the demonstration it is just a matter of time before all the rest of the companies out there catch up with them. I honestly believe the price point is pretty good. God knows I've spent more on different reels.
I've got the 151 xg, 40 pound Maxcuatro (30 regular PP diameter) on a 6'6" M Bone travel rod (which feels like the 6'6" M Exprides). It's a cool little reel for wind, skipping etc. and IMO a nice complement to the Curado Ks. Even on setting 4 with no lure drop on freespool it will backlash if you hit a wall, not buying all the hype but I don't think you can go wrong with this reel. For someone on a limited budget IMO the K is still hard to beat at
If you guys come back to st Clair and have time for some dog fishing you will have to come out and try out the other dc reels I have 3 of each wait till you get your hands on the Antares dc
That's exactly the video I was looking for. Will order in the morning for sure, thanks. Quick question please, what line you spoiled up with? Subscribing was an easy decision.
Nice video! Nice curado DC. It’s time you move on to some new technology. I love your old school reels too. But you can have old school and new reels all together. Maybe try a Daiwa Steez or a zillions too.
Looks like your behind my parents house no decent holes anywhere around except by them so fishermen trolling up and drifting down over and over but you get to know them after a few passes.
@@TodaysAngler Does that have the auto stop as well? Got the wife hooked and hey if she wants to go musky fishing more often, might as well fuel the fire :)
Ok Sir right spot.. 🙏🏻.. honestly I'm about to buy that reel, but the guy in the shop told me that reel was not good for Chanel catfish..💁.. yes the usually the fish you caught on this video it's about same side with the catfish I caught.. so is that true this reel not for catfish.. he said catfish fight stronger.. I mean this is gonna be my really first cast reel so I really need the Professinal to address me.. thank you Sir ..👍
The unit is sealed and has no moving parts inside of it. I imagine of you don't dunk your reel into water overnight it should last as long as any other reel. There are tons of older JDM DC reels going strong. A buddy of mine has an old Metanium DC that has got to be almost a decade old.
This video was great all the other videos I watched about this real were terrible they complained about it because they have experienced the more expensive dc reals
@@TodaysAngler the DC chip works by the pitch the whine is making and adjusts spool speed based on the noise! I think the louder the better in my opinion!
If you're a fisherman i think you should learn service your own reels. I have been since my 20s and now 48yrs old. Pro tip learn to oil your own. Better job cuz u care more,#2 easy, #3 don't pay anything other than a good oil,#4 no waiting for anyone, no driving= no cash paid out. Service your own save money for more tackle. PS TO ALL DON'T BE SCARED
That is the native Bowfin...aka Dogfish. They are an awesome predator and fighter and have a lot of the same qualities as a musky. Check out our channel for more videos on them. That is a small one btw. Thanks for watching.
Wow is the word that comes to mind. Crazy what technology has done. Do they make a musy worthy reel? Guessing the leader was Robbie's idea?? I was hoping you was gonna do a give away for a reel. Good review
Video is 6 years old as of right now. And it’s the type of video I’ve been looking for, for all day now. Thank you

Those old shimonos r classics!!! My grandpa had them in this Arsenal and they still hang with all of the new reels
"I see a problem developing here. I only have one of these things." LOL !!!

sigh..my wife is going to kill me when she sees a new reel.
me too
Good way to die brother 🤙🏼
I feel your pain!

Coming back to the curado DC in 2023 and owning a few modern bate casters. DC is still worth it. Mine runs like a clock, setting 2 12 lb mono.
Nice. Yeah they knocked it outta the park on that one.
I’m currently sitting on my front porch waiting for the USPS man to arrive!! It’s currently 3 stops away and I’m stoked !
How do you like it?
2 year review??😂
thats about all the testing i needed to see, thanks a lot...now i have to buy one. great video
Shimano really has the sickest stuff. I was hoping Lee would do a review on this reel and here it is!
Really? How come?

I want this reel right now.
“Do I need it?”... what kind of question is that?
I don’t need anything but a stick and a hook. But the new Curado DC is just SEXY AS HELL... so YES.
I might pick one of those up. For my windy days out in the lake
Just ordered mine the other day and can’t wait for it to get here. 👍🏻

You're welcome. Glad you liked.
Just bought it today, for 179 euros so 200 USD brand new, from some sale. Cant wait to fish it
Those reels sound crazy! Love me some shimano reels!

Thank you sooo much!!! Because of you I’m ordering this reel right now.
You'll love it
That thing makes a funky noise
Loving the sound it makes
I still have three Castaics for pitching. Love em.
For sure! Bulletproof
If you guys come back to st Clair and have time for some dog fishing you will have to come out and try out the other dc reels I have 3 of each wait till you get your hands on the Antares dc
I'm not sure if i love or hate the noise that thing is making
Imagine a Shimano Tranx DC reel
There is something like that. It is somewhat similar but it has a clicking drag.
I really wish there was one
Enjoyed the video! I have a Calcutta and Castaic, both in great condition, if you're looking to add to your collection. The Calcutta is barely used.
Tempting on Calcutta but I just rebuilt mine finally and its baby smooth.
Who or where can i find someone to clean my reels?
In a Nutshell Can I Use this reel For Flipping, Pitchin & Punching or would it b e better for Spinnerbaits.
If you think the curado dc is small you should feel some of the new lews reels.
Nice review man this seems like a cheaper option then the scorpion dc reel.
Neptuned910 z in malaysia curado dc just costs 155usd only
Picking mine up today!! Can't wait to hit the lake. Probably wont be able to sleep
You should test out the Shimano scorpion dc 17. It’s super sick
Curado dc is better
That's sick i never fished whit a bait caster allways a float reel or a spinning reel i should get one but any way good stuff lines tight.
I found a old Shimano bantum Crestfire 200a for $5 at a goodwill, works fine after I cleaned it! 5.1.1 lol
What was the gear ratio on the reel you tested?
That reel is crazyyyyyyy good
Agree
Ummmmm I'll take 20 please. Great video guys!! Crazy to think this tech has been relegated to Japan for so many years.
No kidding. Thanks. Strange isn't it?
Love it bro lol i have old school Calcutta also...
Awesome video

Thanks! Just rebuilt that old Calcutta 200, just like new! Appreciate your view.
Love my DC reels. In other news, why are your hands orange?
Over saturation
Nice review, Thanks!
I really want a baitcaster but I am worried about getting backlashes! Will these really help me?
It will I believe. Or just practice.
That was in South America?
great video i own 5 of these and love them
Nice review. What type of braid do you use? Thanks!
Thanks! 50lb Sufix 832
Great video! I already own a few scorpion dc reels. You convinced me to buy a curado dc now! Which model are you using the regular, HG or XG?
Thanks. HG. Still love my old Castiacs for pitchin'
I need to stop watching these videos
.... i know right now i have to buy one
I watched them and now I bought one
David Morton same but I got mine for my birthday
cool presentation thanks
Wow the reel is insane. Just one question, because it's digital is the reel Completely waterproof? If so its flawless.
I would imagine so?
I JUST CANT FIND ONE HERE IN TORONTO DAMMIT!
Looks like your behind my parents house no decent holes anywhere around except by them so fishermen trolling up and drifting down over and over but you get to know them after a few passes.
haha omg that reel is a real game changer. i've always been into spinning gear but that.... haha really tempted to get one now despite the price XD
can i use curado dc in saltwater?
For Musky fishing would you recommend the 150 or go bigger. I see a 200.
Neither, Tranx 400.
@@TodaysAngler Does that have the auto stop as well? Got the wife hooked and hey if she wants to go musky fishing more often, might as well fuel the fire :)
The bigger reel would be better. However I don't know the specs on drag difference only difference I noticed is gear ratio.
choupique on a frog! i never would have believed if i didn't see it.
Hi from malaysian. What kind size mainline is you use it? Braided or nylon?
Hi, 50lb braided
Todays Angler Thanks you master👏🏻👏🏻

The installed DC unit is the old type DC unit and the same unit as 08 methanium DC
Interesting. So is there a newer version of the tech and if so how does it differ?
Todays Angler The difference between IDC 4 and IDC 5 seems to be in flight distance. I will let you know again as I know the details
What king of braid are you using
We use Power Pro Super Slick V2.
what is the brand rod you are using in video?
Vexan
I'm buying a CURADO DC what 7ft rod do you recommend medium heavy? Or something else using braid line
Need to know what lures you will be throwing with it mainly?
I will probably throw a little bit of everything except light and ultralight
I can't imagine the life expectancy of these things would be that great. I'm sure they're good out of the box but what about 3-4 years down the line?
The unit is sealed and has no moving parts inside of it. I imagine of you don't dunk your reel into water overnight it should last as long as any other reel.

2 is for braid or mono, 3 is for florocarbon, 4 is for very light tackle. Good video.
I thought settings 1-4 were for different kinds of line
Not to my knowledge but that would affect it also.
Does it sound as good in person as it does on video?
Oh yeah... I have an antares DC and they whine just like it. Sick reels
Supposed to be a bit quieter?
@@TodaysAngler the DC chip works by the pitch the whine is making and adjusts spool speed based on the noise! I think the louder the better in my opinion!
I have mine on setting 4 and it backlashes. Am I doing something wrong?
You still need to set main brake cap on left side of reel.
I’m sure we all used to mass the bait on brick walls back then when we were desperate
😘😘😘😘 shimano dc is the best..👍👍👍
Do you think this little guy can handle 3.2 oz pike swimbaits?
Will but may be able to cast all the line off reel? Lol

7' Medium
Nice curado DC

They do make a heavier bait option. Brand new this year. 2018 Shimano Antares DC MD (Monster drive). Little pricey though
I told Robbie that morning to get a leader on...don't listen to the old guy? Thanks
really needs a 200 size DC spool.
What Kind of Rod is that flippin stick? anyone
Vexan
Are these ok in saltwater?
Not sure?
What gear ratio did you get?
7.4
Does it use batteries?
No, Inertia
"i didnt go there i was actually fishing" haha word brotha!
True story.
Not sure why everyone overtightens the cast control cap...
Its because the instructions say to tighten it only until the spool stops moving side to side, the chip does the rest.
What caracterists this line has ?
50 lb Sufix 832 braid
Good size snakehead...already order curado dc 151HG.maybe end of this month..
It's Bowfin not Snakehead
They are also known as Dogfish which are native to our waters.
What's the rod mate? It looks super dope!
vexan pro series i think, they’re great rods
What is that rod??
Was a Vexan 7'6" mh
What rod is that?
Vexan 7'6" H.
Well i guess now i know what i am going to replace my abu garcia revos with.

I took my DC back and bought a Bruin
I have 3 of the old 200's
