Fact checking would have told you that there were no Hurricane Hunters that could get to Orlene when it was peaking, so by your logic the NHC were also guessing the number of jelly beans in the jar.

Besides, even by looking at imagery on Orlene, she appeared to be only a T.5 on the Dvorak Technique due to a small and deformed CDO which frankly is well below Category 5 status.
1992 was the 5th busiest year on record. It featured many basins getting an All-time record activity (Especially EPAC and NIO) It also included many destructive and powerful storms like Iniki, Andrew, Tina, Gay.
What about 1961, 1964 and 1971? Atlantic and wpac were very active in 1964....ESPECIALLY WPAC...it had it's most active year in terms of almost everything.
Typhoon Gay had extremely cold cloud tops, very warm eye, and a well defined structure. Also, Gay was a Dvorak 8.0 for 9 hours. 205 is a reasonable estimate for me. It may even be stronger/deeper than f13's analysis.
