    I have to admit you describe limit much better than my teacher QAQ ......... Thanks for making this video and thanks to David Stone who points out the domain is all real number except 3 in the third example.

    Pedro, I have to disagree with the third example. The graph of x^2-9/x-3 does have a hole in it at 3. I understand that you can factor out the x-3 from the denominator but when you graph the function you MUST honor the original equation in which x cannot equal 3. That is, the domain of the function is all real numbers except 3. Please explain.

    • @numberbender
      @numberbender  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank ***** for pointing that out. You are right, I should have mentioned that there should have a hole at x=3. I will add the erratum for example #3.

      so, there is no limit?

    • @mysticreaper5844
      @mysticreaper5844 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The limit doesn't exist on the graph, but it is 6.

    how do you get L in that c if you o that c?By using X?

  • @pigeotcram
    @pigeotcram 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    question: why do you have to choose another number which is closer to 2 but NOT equal to 2?? thanks

    • @numberbender
      @numberbender  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ... because if you set your x at exactly 2, the limit will not exist. so it's safe to say that when you are computing for the limit, you are approximating a value of x that will give you the approximated value of y.

    one problem is that x2-9=(x+3)(x-3),after cancel out the function will be x+3

    Are you sure this is AP Calculus AB?? I feel like I just learned this in my Precal class. Also, is Calculus AB a hard class??? I heard many people drop out cuz it's so hard.

    • @numberbender
      @numberbender  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BirdLover "Limits" is included in precalc. You are right, it does look like you have taken this from your previous math class. However, there's so much to learn in AP calc AB. You are on the right track. AP calc is going to challenge your math skills and it takes patience to master all the skills needed in calc.

      Pedro Thenumberbender Oh I see. Thanks for the reply!
      I have another question. How much do you have to study to master AP calc? Do you think someone can master it in a month?
      I only have a month of summer break left and want to lighten the load!

    • @numberbender
      @numberbender  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BirdLover AP calc. just like any AP classes, requires a lot of patience and self discipline. Just make sure to have your algebra skills ready because you will need that to learn math skills in AP calculus. Not mastering Algebra prior to taking calculus is like answering 24x59 without knowing the multiplication table.

    Im not in calculus yet, but i will be next year, so excuse me if this is a dumb question, but what exactly is a function and what does it mean for an equation to have a limit?

    • @numberbender
      @numberbender  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      in a nutshell, functions are just another way of saying equations... and there's no dumb question for people who want to learn.
      limit is a the closest value of x that will make a function not to be "undefined."
