    I found a mini swamp cooler. My Chill by Homedics at Bed Bath and Beyond for best price w/ 20% off coupon. It's only 8x6x7. Comes with 110 power cord, but I use a cigarette lighter adapter. It runs for 6 hrs per water fill. Uses unmeasurable solar draw. High and low settings. This puppy makes a huge difference. Both temperature and the moisture makes you feel even cooler. Also LED litght bulbs. 2 roof fans, one in and 1 out creates a fresh air circle.

      Wow. That is awesome! We've heard of small swamp coolers but didn't know anyone using one RVing. If you are in a dry climate it makes a HUGE difference. Great comment and advice!

      I have to agree that they work really well (though I've only used it in my sticks and bricks home)! Mine's a 12L evaporative air cooler and it keeps my bedroom pretty cool over a long period - I would be running it day and night and it would barely use anything! I was wondering if it'd be suitable for camping (with power), so thank you for the info.

      I do the same thing when I’m working and camping and even sometimes in my electric car so that I’m not using too much air conditioner. It’s called evaporated cooling

      NEVER PUT WATER ON YOUR DOGS BACK TO COOL IT DOWN! Dogs don’t work the same why we do, they don’t thermoregulate with sweat. Putting water on their back only ways down their fur creating a layer of insulation which makes them way hotter. The best thing you can do is find cold water and let your dog submerge their feet. Feet are their primary heat regulator (same with humans)

    A white heat reflective coating can reduce heat from 140 .. to 118 inside .. study shingle roof coatings

    This is the reason why I'd never make it as a full timer/boondocker. I need AC or I melt. You can find me at the KOA when it gets hot.

      Ted Staples ! I agree! Camping is much more comfortable when RV is plugged in and a/c is running. See you at the KOA.

      We've done that a few times ourselves. We can boondock up to about 90 degrees but after that, we're looking for hookups!

    We found that using the Microair EasyStart 364 makes it so that we can easily run our 15,000 BTU AC on our Honda eu2000i generator. Works great when we really need to fire up the AC. Stay cool, everyone!

    I keep my solar panels loose. Lean them against adjustable saw horses away from my trailer. So I can park in the shade. Be careful in high winds. Also inspect trees well for limbs that may fall during high winds before you decide to park under it. Solid mount panels, large rv can limit options to camp.

    Love your channel! My wife and I have been camping for over 30 years. started shortly after getting married in our very early 20's and last year got a Honda EU3000is generator, love it! Since we only do state and national parks and some boondocking?

    In humid areas, I highly suggest using a dehumidifier. It serves to do a couple of things. One, it pulls out humidity/water from the air that causes us to feel hotter. Because humidity keeps our sweat from being able to evaporate and cool down our bodies - our bodies make more sweat to try and do the job it's meant to do - *cool us off* so it causes a domino effect.
    Second, it helps inhibit the growth of mold & mildew and collection of moisture inside the RV. Excessive moisture is the enemy of RVs/trailers!
    Also, using a dehumidifier while running the AC will greatly help the AC do its job better/easier.
    A swamp cooler puts water into the air. This is really only best to use in really dry climates.
    I prefer dry climates because I sweat less - just enough for it to do its job in keeping me cooler. WOOHOO!!
    You can purchase one unit meant to take care of a large area - or smaller units for one or a couple of rooms. I mostly stay in one room of the house so I use a pretty small unit for that room only.
    When cooking in the trailer I keep one in the kitchen area.
    Hope you didn't mind my sharing and forgive me if you already knew all of this... Blessings!!
    PS just found your channel today and am enjoying watching your videos - they are most enjoyable to watch - you two do a great job!!

    • @AStreaminLife
      @AStreaminLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I agree a dehumidifier would be awesome and very necessary to keep excess moisture down if we were in a more humid climate. Since we tend to stay in very dry climates we haven't had any issues with this yet but we may down the road. Good point about cooking, that does certainly release more moisture into the air!

      Don't you have to plug a dehumidifier into shore power? If I can do that I guess I would up for my AC

    I live in California it isn't as hot early morning and late night so I have the fan blow the hot air out which helps keep me cool an extra hour or two during the day by itself.

    Also orient your trailer running east and west so the sun touches a smaller percentage of your trailer . Heat gain from the sun hitting a smaller percentage of the trailer will be less.

    I have an inflatable pool I use. Fill it up with water and sit in it outside😂. I bought a small ice maker to put in the pool water when it gets hot so I can use the same pool water for a few days. Luckily, where I live(have my RV parked), it is only over 85 degrees for about a month out of the year, and we will get about a week of over 90 degree weather.

    Always looking for new ideas 😭 to stay cool. Summer is getting hot! I've tried fans and evaporative coolers and the best thing so far was the reflective shades in the windows. My van gets hot with all the insulation. Keeping windows open and doors if possible helps. And the sun out ☀🚐 I'm so glad I have solar panels to keep my batteries charged. I don't know how I did it before. Also, bought some of those neck towels for cooling and they actually work. Maybe they are called O2 cool 🤔

    • @geraldhenrickson7472
      @geraldhenrickson7472 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That option is covered in the video however...most rooftop A/C's are incredible inefficient and power hungry. And many rigs need two A/C's operating on hot days. Lastly, many folks cannot stand to listen to a thirsty generator all day....every day in the summer.

    I also find that what you eat contributes greatly. Eating hot meals, high protein meats like beef, chicken and fish will increase your body temperature, for awhile. Cold cut sandwiches help. You don't want to eat a hot bowl of spicy chili for example if you're trying to stay cool. What you eat matters. Also, drink plenty of water.

    • @AStreaminLife
      @AStreaminLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Dube' I have no idea where they could stay. I do think there is a length restriction at Acadia's campgrounds. My personal experience has been with our 17' Casita, with never a problem.

      If you're in New England in the summer, Massachusetts can be great. You can actually get in the ocean! Horseneck Beach Campground, Westport, MA. Ellis Haven, Carver, MA. I'm pretty sure there's camping at Demerst Llyod, Dartmouth, MA. There's also a KOA in Westport. Good area, nice beaches, close to Boston, MA, Plymouth, MA, Fall River, MA, New Bedford, MA, Newport, RI, Providence, RI. Lots to do, great seafood!

    on our 2005 classic both fans were exhaust only. I got a double pole double throw rocker switch, DPDT, that when installed can allow the front fan ability to push air into the RV which can be quite nice when the humidity is lower and temp are a bit higher. Sorta like a ceiling fan. :)
