Fabulous tutorial! Love the outcome too! So so pretty. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your pattern and knowledge. I had loads of fun making this shawl.
This is such a good tutorial! I made my first one last year, with Paintbox Chunky Pots for a long, warm shawl for my christmas holiday at the north sea. It worked so nice, even in the thick yarn and kept me really warm and cozy through the winter weather on the beach. ♥ Since then i made 2 more, one in sparkly DK weight yarn and one in worsted weight. All looking faboulus! Edit: One with the Jessica Border and two without a border. Still looking great, even without the border.
Hello Bob thank you so much for time getting back to me so quickly I appreciate your advice I Will carry on with my shawl and see how it looks when I'm finished I am enjoying crocheting this lovely shawl I hope your enjoying your trip to the UK I will wait until your trip is over so not to disturb the rest of your trip and then send you a photo of my finished shawl thank you again from Barbara xx
I'm back again! I now have 4 Me shawls and I have 3 more to make! Just started #5. I made the mistake of wearing one to my craft group! Thankfully it's a lovely pattern to work. The body of the shawl is pretty mindless. The border isn't hard, just need to pay attention. Currently using Rico fashion cotton metallise DK and it gives a lovely weight to the shawl.
Hello, I absolutely love this pattern 💖💖 living on the Gold Coast, Qld I had been searching for a sarong pattern without it being just a big V. Thankfully I found your wonderful tutorial and I am now onto my 2nd one, I make them in a light cotton on 31/2 or 4 mm hook without the border so they just tie on the side, perfect for throwing around swimmers/bikini's, my God daughters are going to love them as Christmas gifts 🎁 I am originally from Wellington and Taupo 💖💖 thanks again, you are wonderful ......👏👏👏
Hi Clare,I have made this in a variegated yarn (colours of mustard, lime green, blue, rust and dark pink) you made it so easy to follow. it looks fab and I can't wait to wear it. Jessica shawl next. Thank for so much for your tutorials.
Hello, I have 3 skeins of Soho Lively yarn on order. I believe it is very much like RH unforgettable, 3 weight and with beautiful colors. Can’t wait to work up this lovely pattern with this new yarn ( for me). I enjoy making shawls because the patterns show off beautiful yarns and work up quickly. Thank you for sharing ❤️
If anyone is using Lion Brand Mandala (which looks fab in this shawl btw) I used almost a whole cake (150g, 540m) on the body of the shawl before adding the border. I did extend the row repeat to a total of 25 because I wanted it longer and deeper than Clare's.
I love the edging from the Jessica shawl. I enjoy all your videos and have made almost all of your projects successfully. I always know I’ll understand your instructions. Thx so much for sharing all your time. And I always shop via your links. ❤️🌷🌻
Hi I just wanted you to know that I made thus pattern for a friend of mine for a birthday present and the only thing that I did was make tassels instead of a boarder. She is a very tall lady over 6 ft so I had to use a different size hook to help get the pattern to fit her size. The drain pattern worked quite fast and she loves the colors I picked. When I see her I'll get a picture and send it as soon as possible. Thank for your pattern tutorials because I am only a beginner and look forward to seeing you do more.
Clare.. This is s lovely shawl...and an easy pattern.. I love it, and intend to try it with Lion Brand’s Mandala yarn, which is my current favorite. I think it will be perfect. Thank you for doing this tutorial.. You are an excellent instructir💜

That first row is the bane of my existence! So glad it's not just me. And if you can whip that one project up FOUR TIMES I need to get over my "startitis" and finish a WIP for pity's sake lol
On the second roll after I do that increase in the middle and you say in the next 9 do the 3 double crochets , but it's more than that you're working into I have gone back remaking this twice and still come up with more than at the end of the second roll.
G'day Just jazzy thank you for your comment, thank you for watching. You start with an increase, then you do the 9, then a increase then the 9 and then an increase at the end of the row. Is this what you did and still had extra ?
I love my 'Me' shawl! I added a couple of extra rows and my shawl is gorgeous, in hindsight I don't think it needed it but I had the yarn so thought I'd use it. Shared pics on Instagram. Also added beads like on the Jessica shawl. It's a gorgeous pattern!
Hello Bob I'm Barbara and great fan of your lovely crouchet I love your shawl and started 3x I seem to have a problem after the 3rd row it's quite round and puckers in a couple of places hopeing it will correct it's self can you please help me stitches are correct good tension I did up size 1 on crouchet hook has requested I hope to here from you thank you Barbara from UK xx
Hello, yes the shawl will have a curve to it, it will straighten out if you want it to when you block it If you want to you can send me a clear photo via email, I am away in the UK at the moment so may be a little slow are replying bobwilson123@hotmail.com.au
Hi from Ballarat...l am using ombre mandala in orange and cream changes to a pinky colour and cream....not using stitch markers hope l remember the rows to increase...lol
I am actually making this shawl right now. I am trying to get out of my 'comfort' zone this year... I tend to go to the same patterns over and over again. Yes many are yours hehe... I started this project with Super Saver Hello Gorgeous (In Peacock) Worsted #4 because it was on clearance...and was iffy about the color but working it up is GORGEOUS....ugh sorry I had a point. LOL....I am doing 3 balls (that's what I have) of 5 oz each, using a 6mm hook because I misread the packaging (suggests an I hook)....and almost through ball number one but now I am getting UBER nervous that it won't be enough....and can't find more anywhere. Wish me luck. Just wanted to say I LOVE THIS PATTERN
it should be enough. it will be a very large and thick shawl. the shawl I made uses dk/8ply yarn. yours will be a very squishy shawl. i can't imagine it needing all 3 balls of the yarn
Hello, yes I do have the edging for that one, its on the Jessica shawl which is a very similar shawl to the me shawl only deeper (uses the same stitches) th-cam.com/video/ihaOu1AYzug/w-d-xo.html
Oh wow Clare. This shawl is too gorgeous for words! That yarn! I just skimmed the video. I have 800 yards of fingering weight hand dyed merino. I wonder if it would work. I love how you insert video of the local fauna. Thank you for everything! xx
Hello Trish ! Kylie, the dyer of thr yarn used in this video used fingering weight yarn in her version and it looks great ! I can not remember how much she used though...sigh.. I have just tagged you on Instagram and asked Kylie how much yarn she used
First would like to say, love you patterns and tutorials that I've watched so far. I'm making this shawl just wish I had these colors on hand but couldn't wait to get started. It worked up quickly but I have an issue. The width is just right but my friend would like it longer in the back (more of a point) so how do I stop increasing width but keep going in length? I don't want to ruin what I've done or frog it all and start over. Plz help 😯
Hello Kim, sorry for the slow reply, I have been sick ...rolls eyes ! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. The way the shawl is worked, it will always increase in width and length at the same time. To make a point it needs the increase on each row, worked into the chain space of the previous row Sorry i can not be much help with your question
Hi Clare gorgeous love it just wanted you to know that l have made lots and lots of your baby cardigans and after l made space for sleeves l did a fancy she'll stitch to make into matinee coat so thanks so much for the pattern do them all for charity and thanks very much to you xxx
Can't wait to make this, thank you. Just a tiny thought. It would be nice to see what the shawl looks like on someone. Sometimes hard to visualize what it would look like. Although it's lovely in the picture.
Hello, thank you for the feedback At the moment unfortunately I am away from home for 6 weeks I will upload a photo to Instagram of the blue version with the Jessica shawl edging
I have a lot of shawls that would be okay for a young child. The Jessica shawl is can be made smaller as well as many of my other designs. www.bobwilson123.org/ponchos-and-shawls.html
G'day Soula Varsamakis thank you for your comment. Yes I think it will look wonderful. Have you joined our group yet? You can share all of your bobwilson123 projects here. facebook.com/groups/338449986970915/
Just saw this gorgeous shawl Me and husband have moved into a condo after being in a house for over 25 yr I know you understand how stressful and busy that is but the only thing organized was my yarn and craft supplies and I’ve already got it unpack and ready 👏👏 I too have a different yarn although the one you use is gorgeous! Miss Babbs Kiera heavy fingering wt the yardage is more than plenty and it’s hand dyed. I saw other comments so if I just went up 2 hook sizes I should be fine?
hi, your yarn recommends using a C/2.75mm through F/3.75mm hook. For fingering I would not go any higher than maybe an H/5mm hook as your shawl may be too small. You can always try it and see what works and what doesn't. I used a h/5mm for dk weight and it was pretty wide.
Clare--beautiful shawl! I so want to try to make it. Do you think the 3-weight Mandala yarn would work well with this pattern? Would I still go up to a J hook instead of the H? And do you block projects you make with acrylic yarn? I have heard mixed thoughts on this. I am partially disabled, and don't have the ability or the room to block larger projects, so I have stuck to mostly acrylics for that reason. Again, thank you for such a beautiful pattern and tutorial!
Hello, Yes any yarn weight will work for this pattern, just go up 2 hook sizes from the one that the yarn label suggests Yes I would block it and it does not matter on the fiber content Blocking is compulsory but it does open our the stitches to show the pretty work you have done
So is it 2 no increase rows between every 3 row repeat, or one? Mine is almost done and I only put one because early on you said it’s a 3 row repeat. Or is it just 2 rows of no increase at the point your ending it?
bobwilson123 i figured it out my tension was to tight and it kinda curled and the way it curled made it look like a messy bun hat once i figure out my new phone i will send you a picture of it
Hi Clare, I love the style of the shawl, it's beautiful!! I want to make one for my aunt for mother's Day, can you tell me if this pattern fit a yarn size #4 ? or what yarn size you used? I've been crocheting for years and still I get a but confused when it comes to yarn sizes/types .. thank you 🙏
Hello. I have used a number 3 USA yarn/dk or 8ply AUSTRALIAN The number 3 yarn gives it a beautiful drape however many people have made the shawl with number 4 USA yarn. Thanks for watching my video
Here in Oregon USA people don't wear shawls or ponchos. Few people wear carpetslippers. See some babies with crochet blanket or hat or sweater. Do you or people where you are wear crochet?
hello, i have a yarn ball winder and yarn swift. i use them to wind up my yarn that comes in skeins. before i had those i would use the backs or legs of a chair and hand wind them. the markers you can get online or any local yarn shop. ebay, amazon, the website for local yarn shops
I love this yarn. Yes it looks like a fruit mix of melon n raspberries. Do they ship to the U.S.? If so is it worth shipping fees. Honestly? I love this shawl. I'm definitely am making it one way or the other. I love when you show us Aussie nature. Thx for all you do.❤
G'day Lynda Thomas thank you for your comment, thank you for watching! Yes I think this yarn is worth it and yes US shipping, if you sign up to Kylies newsletter you get a 15% off on your first order and Kylie has a points rewards program that you can join fiberlily.com.au/fiber-lily-rewards/
It's okay for me as a beginner to do this? Because I want to make this shawel? And do you have any social media where I can ask little details about the Crochet?
Hello Darlene, You can use any thickness yarn for this project. Make sure you use a crochet hook that is 2 size bigger than what the yarn label recommends
I used 200g of 8ply/dk. 8ply is almost the same thickness of a 3ply so if you use a 3 then you should only need about 200 grams of yarn. if you want it to be bigger then you can use another ball
I have two cakes of Cascade Yarns Sunseeker with 207 metres on each. Sounds like this is a good project for it. You can sub any yarn with similar weight and yardage, Grace.
Hello, yes you can use any DK / number 3 yarn :) I would say this will work with any weight yarn just as long as you use a hook size that is 2 sizes bigger that what is suggested by your yarn label
Hi Clare just wondering if it is crucial to finish off you row 6 twice? I don’t think I’m going to have enough yarn to do it twice. I am using the yarn from fibre Lily’s charming yarn society (Charlie and the chocolate factory)
Oh Sally that yarn is so pretty !! I am hoarding mine LOL I know i answered your question in the live chat, but will put it here again just in case other people want to know the same thing You do not need to do 2 rows of row 6, if you do one it will be less rounded and look more square at the increases
Hola, me encanta todo lo que haces y en especial este trabajo, te pido que pongas subtitulos en español, por favor, saludos desde la bella Ciudad de México.
hello, I am sorry but i do not speak spanish. In order for youtube to add subtitles i have to type the subtitles word for word in that language. TH-cam does have a general subtitle under the little gear on the right bottom of the screen.
I’m probably really late on this video but I need to spread the word. *To all the knitters and crocheters out there.* if you have an extra ball of yarn that you don’t use, some free time, and some money to spend, please knit/crochet a blanket and send it to Australia (to help with the animals affected by the bushfires) Almost a billion animals have tragically died, and the fires have been raging for months. Please, the earth is polluted, and dying. This is the least you can do. You can even go out and buy some wild bird seed or something. Please do your part. At the very least, we expect you to spread the word. We are kinda burning alive out here.
You all probably dont care but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can give me!
Please I need a written pattern I’ll pay for it and the cost of mailing. I’m 68 and need it in front of me not looking it up after every faze. Please contact me and I’ll make arrangements to pay.
Hello Nicole, when making shawls we want a nice drape so that it isn't stiff and the fabric we create is relaxed. By going up 2 hook sizes we can achieve this very easily I hope that answers you question :)
I am sorry but I do not speak Spanish and it is very expensive to pay someone to translate for a closed caption. I do not make enough money for that at this time. Hopefully, it is on a future wish list. you can follow the written pattern. www.crochetwithclare.com/me-shawl.html
😊I have finished my first ever shawl thanks to your easy to follow pattern. I can say, categorically that it won't be the last. Thankyou x

Yes I would block it and it does not matter on the fiber content
Blocking is compulsory but it does open our the stitches to show the pretty work you have done
So is it 2 no increase rows between every 3 row repeat, or one? Mine is almost done and I only put one because early on you said it’s a 3 row repeat. Or is it just 2 rows of no increase at the point your ending it?
Yes just 2 rows at the end

Thank you again for another excellent tutorial.
Thank you and thank you for watching !
hi clair i justarted doing this shawl and mine i looking like it is a messy bun hat lol i went up a hook size and it is still doing it help plz
hi, i am sorry but i do not understand what you mean. this is not worked in the round and is started out with a long chain.
bobwilson123 i figured it out my tension was to tight and it kinda curled and the way it curled made it look like a messy bun hat once i figure out my new phone i will send you a picture of it
oh I am happy you figured it out. yes tension will make a huge difference in any project you do
ty for getting back so fast love your tutorials
no worries. thank you for watching my videos. let me know if you still have problems and we will try to figure out what is going wrong.
Hi Clare, I love the style of the shawl, it's beautiful!! I want to make one for my aunt for mother's Day, can you tell me if this pattern fit a yarn size #4 ? or what yarn size you used? I've been crocheting for years and still I get a but confused when it comes to yarn sizes/types .. thank you 🙏
Hello. I have used a number 3 USA yarn/dk or 8ply AUSTRALIAN
The number 3 yarn gives it a beautiful drape however many people have made the shawl with number 4 USA yarn.
Thanks for watching my video
Here in Oregon USA people don't wear shawls or ponchos. Few people wear carpetslippers. See some babies with crochet blanket or hat or sweater. Do you or people where you are wear crochet?
Hola esta muy lindoo.!!
Clare, may I ask what sort of contraption you use to wind your yarn; and also where can I find those locking stitch markers?
hello, i have a yarn ball winder and yarn swift. i use them to wind up my yarn that comes in skeins. before i had those i would use the backs or legs of a chair and hand wind them. the markers you can get online or any local yarn shop. ebay, amazon, the website for local yarn shops
Yes I think this yarn is worth it and yes US shipping, if you sign up to Kylies newsletter you get a 15% off on your first order and Kylie has a points rewards program that you can join
fiberlily.com.au/fiber-lily-rewards/
It's okay for me as a beginner to do this? Because I want to make this shawel? And do you have any social media where I can ask little details about the Crochet?
hi, yes a beginner can make this by following the video and all of my social media links are in the info box below the videos
Thank you
What other yarn could be used to make this shawl?
Hello Darlene, You can use any thickness yarn for this project. Make sure you use a crochet hook that is 2 size bigger than what the yarn label recommends
Are we able to sell finished products if we give you credit for the design?
Jillian Long yes and can do with any of my pattern 😁
bobwilson123 Thank you!
This shawl is not the same shawl that u had on the gram. Do I have the video or pattern 4 the colorful shawl u posted?
this is the same shawl, i just used different colours in the instagram photo.
I'm a beginner crocheted so bear with me. If I use a size 3 or 4 to do this shawl will it require more yarn?
I used 200g of 8ply/dk. 8ply is almost the same thickness of a 3ply so if you use a 3 then you should only need about 200 grams of yarn. if you want it to be bigger then you can use another ball
16 rows seem small..can i double it
trinsetta thomas Test’s what I thought, too.
Hi Clare, is there a substitute yarn I can use? What weight yarn is yours? Thank you! Beautiful Shawl!
I have two cakes of Cascade Yarns Sunseeker with 207 metres on each. Sounds like this is a good project for it. You can sub any yarn with similar weight and yardage, Grace.
Nicola Newington thank you!
Hello, yes you can use any DK / number 3 yarn :)
I would say this will work with any weight yarn just as long as you use a hook size that is 2 sizes bigger that what is suggested by your yarn label
Thank you !
bobwilson123 thank you Clare! 💕
Muy hermoso gracias
Hi Clare just wondering if it is crucial to finish off you row 6 twice? I don’t think I’m going to have enough yarn to do it twice. I am using the yarn from fibre Lily’s charming yarn society (Charlie and the chocolate factory)
Oh Sally that yarn is so pretty !! I am hoarding mine LOL
I know i answered your question in the live chat, but will put it here again just in case other people want to know the same thing
You do not need to do 2 rows of row 6, if you do one it will be less rounded and look more square at the increases
bobwilson123 thank you xx
So pretty...
Beautiful
Hola, me encanta todo lo que haces y en especial este trabajo, te pido que pongas subtitulos en español, por favor, saludos desde la bella Ciudad de México.
hello, I am sorry but i do not speak spanish. In order for youtube to add subtitles i have to type the subtitles word for word in that language. TH-cam does have a general subtitle under the little gear on the right bottom of the screen.
bobwilson123 gracias por contestarme
I’m probably really late on this video but I need to spread the word.
*To all the knitters and crocheters out there.* if you have an extra ball of yarn that you don’t use, some free time, and some money to spend, please knit/crochet a blanket and send it to Australia (to help with the animals affected by the bushfires)
Almost a billion animals have tragically died, and the fires have been raging for months. Please, the earth is polluted, and dying. This is the least you can do.
You can even go out and buy some wild bird seed or something. Please do your part.
At the very least, we expect you to spread the word. We are kinda burning alive out here.
Vou tentar fazer. É muito lindo! Gostaria de tradução em espanhol ou legenda em português. 😘🇧🇷👏👏
You all probably dont care but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Steven Travis instablaster =)
Luv it. Thank you
Thank you penny and thank you for watching

Boa noite
Em centímetros quanto começamos ??
Obrigada
Sorry i do not understand your question
How many gram it take
G'day Noreen mahmoud thank you for your comment, I used 200 grams of DK yarn
Why do we have to go up 2 hook sizes again? I don't understand that part. Love the video tho!
Hello Nicole, when making shawls we want a nice drape so that it isn't stiff and the fabric we create is relaxed. By going up 2 hook sizes we can achieve this very easily
I hope that answers you question :)
thank you, it really helped☺️
puedes ponerlo en español también me gusta como tejes
I am sorry but I do not speak Spanish and it is very expensive to pay someone to translate for a closed caption. I do not make enough money for that at this time. Hopefully, it is on a future wish list. you can follow the written pattern. www.crochetwithclare.com/me-shawl.html
