If you are attending an event, write on the back of your card "met at (x) event", so that the person can remember where they met you.

Yep! Great tip. Or you can use your phone's contacts app too :)

@@soundtrackacad how so? You mean by bluetoothing the info over to them? I meant I would write it on the back of my card ahead of time...curious how the app would work in this case? Thanks :)

@@jaketanner109 oh nothing that complicated! Just when you add them to your phone's contacts app, you can add notes to their contact card (things like where you met them, what you last talked about, mutual contacts, etc.). I explain it in the video at 13:48 ...

@@jaketanner109 Oh hang on, I realise you said to write on YOUR card when you give it to them. Good tip! Always best to get THEIR details/card where possible though, rather than giving yours :)

@@soundtrackacad good idea :) Thanks...although not much in person meetings happening nowadays anyway...any tips on reaching out and setting up zoom meetings instead of attending events? Most everything is online anyway for now.

always great advice jonny :-) My memory is terrible so definitely going to be using your technique of attaching a note to the person in my contacts.

Good advice, but how do you gain access to the relevant people?

It's a great question - and I'm actually working on a course right at the moment that goes into detail on that exact subject! But the short version: go where FILMMAKERS are. So join filmmaker Facebook groups or Subreddits, find any and all places that filmmakers might be in your local area (indie cinemas, film equipment shops, specific filmmaking events like film festivals or conferences, etc.) and just work on building good relationships (not on "pitching" yourself!)
