I watch TH-cam videos while working on my own sewing, so I listen more than watch and look up occasionally to see what’s being spoken about. When you started talking about the tiger fabric, I looked up, admired the beautiful make, then went back to my own sewing. Then you said you were going to move it closer, and I really thought you had inserted a sound of a tiger roaring. I had to look up to make sure. The sound of your camera stand or whatever you were moving, sounded exactly fly like a tiger roar which was perfectly appropriate.
Cara, my head is swimming with all the yummy details, fabrics, patterns, plans, and exciting news! Once again, there are so many similarities in our styles, both in garment type, patterns and fabric. Oh my, THE FABRIC - delicious. Congratulations on being a Lady McElroy Ambassador and a target member for your weight loss! The health benefits from it will serve you well! I've been sewing since the Pandemic and have also been asked why do I keep sewing more clothes? For me, it's not to have a full closet. It's about creating and the magic of turning a beautiful flat piece of fabric into a 3D, functional, usable (well most of the time 😉) item. It's also about having something to show for my time and effort and the satisfaction I get at then end of each project. Let's face it, so much of our time running a home, a family, and work, is repetitive and never ending, lol. I do have a question about the jacket you plan to make with the Maison Fauvre Jacquard, white w/blue flowers, fabric. What kind of fabric is the blue lining that you've chosen? It would be wonderful to have the cup of (something) in person. My husband and I celebrate our 40th Anniversary next year, and we keep talking about a trip back to London. Haha, little does he know that I have a long list of fabric shops that I want to visit, and not just in London. I just finished a wonderful Simplicity easy wear summer pant in double gauze, a Charm Patterns Sophia dress for a friend who is traveling, an Itch-to-Stitch Kalispel dress, and yesterday I started drafting and sewing an outdoor table cloth, seat cushions and a decorative piece for my umbrella so all of it coordinates. Several Maison Fauvre patterns are waiting for me as are some Closet Core and Friday Pattern Co. Aren't you glad you asked? I'm also reading the new book, Gertie's Charmed Sewing Studio. I'm a huge fan of hers. She does vintage inspired clothes for the modern sewist. I credit her for teaching me how to sew after finding her tutorials on TH-cam during the pandemic. I’ve been sewing for about 9 years, self taught, I absolutely love everything about it, and in the past several years the friendship and opportunities have been absolutely wonderful, completely changed my life

Working gon a sweatshirt right now from a designer I've never I've never used before, Juliania Martejevs (don't ask me to pronounce it 😂) and as I don't like ribbing I'm taking ideas from the baloo pattern for the sleeve cuffs and hem. The past 2 week I've made 2 Zalia dresses and top, the oef bag, heroine jeans and 3 T-shirts, and the Lauren boyfriend shirt. ☺️❤️
I lost my greyhound Zuca in March, around the same time you lost your Lara. A month ago I rescued another greyhound, Kirra, who came all the way from Australia, I am in the US. We are getting to know each other, but no, she will never fill the hole that Zuca left, but she is just the sweetest thing and she has a taken a big spot in my heart. Congrats on your new whippet, I know you will love her.

New sub in here so I haven’t commented before but I wanted to say I’ve been a dog parent for all of my life and sadly they do have shorter lifespans than us and losing one is always hard so I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 but I find that when you bring a new personality into your life after the loss they make their own space as they will have their own quirks and habits and your heart just gets bigger to accommodate them. I have a whippet too (he’s 11) and my husband had ex racing greyhounds as his childhood pets and I have to say as dogs go these guys are the quirkiest😂 best of luck with your new addition 😊

We’re 4 days into owning Tealy and you are so right, our hearts are already larger and we’re all adapting. It’s so lovely to hear from you, it means the world to me x
It will soon feel like Teapot has always been with you. She’s lucky to have such a loving and caring family to live with. We rescued a cocker spaniel last year, she’s 5 years old used for breeding and not had much of a life. She soon settled in with our 17 year old jack russell. A bit like yourself we lost her brother 2 years ago but the time felt right to have another dog. Not replacing our beloved dog we lost but simply a new journey. We love our new doggy with all our hear5 as I’m sure you will with Teapot.
So happy for Teapot finding her lovely forever home - she will fill that void❤ We lost our springer Meg last November - the pain was unbearable. In February our friends sent us a photo from their village WhatsApp chats - a basket of springer puppies - so, we now have Ivy! I worried it was too soon, but she just fits.😊 Thank you for your vlogs, was also lovely to meet you at Andrea’s opening day in May. Pam xx
How lovely to have a new springer puppy, but exhausting too. We lost our beloved springer last year (he was nearly 16) and probably won't have another one because they are very active and we are getting older but they are just the best. I bet Ivy is totally gorgeous!
Congrats on target, I reached mine after loosing 5 stone, but maintaining it where I mess up, I'm now almost a stone out of target and working my way back 😊 good luck with your maintaining x
Great vlog Cara, with regard to introducing your new pup I have found that they find their own way. Pups push it the elders of the pack put them in their place. I'm a cat person, simply due to work and family commitments we've never had dogs, but I was brought up with them. Over the years we have lost several cats and always welcomed another cat into our lives. I have been criticised in the past for 'replacing' a cat. Pets can't be replaced, but every animal we have room in our hearts for bring their own love. By now you will have 'Teapot', love the name, and I know she can't have been offered a better home. Congratulations on your Lady McElroy opportunity, it's well deserved and well done with your weight loss. I identify completely with you regarding your sewing 'habit'. It keeps me sane -ish. I am about to make my first Maison Fauve pattern, the Pilar Jacket in denim.

Loving the new fabric and your plans! You inspired me to make a co-ord set so I'm in the middle of making a Samford Set from Peppermint magazine in the hope that the summer arrives at some point. I'm so pleased you're getting a pup and look forward to seeing some photos. Alice will put Teapot in her place when she gets out of hand! I lost my beloved greyhound a couple of weeks ago and hope that I might be able to offer her space on the sofa to another doggo at some point. 🙂

4 weeks ago today I was in a quandary because my Bichon Frise named Tuppence had eaten a bunch of bird seed and was very sick. I live on an island in Alaska (USA) and a traveling veterinarian visits but wasn’t in town. So I managed to find someone in Ketchikan (on another island) who would see her. So we boarded a flight and she died before we got there. Heartbreaking to say the least. We brought another Bichon puppy into 8 year old Tuppence’s life two years ago because she had gone blind and all of the sunshine went out of her. Tuuli did bring the sunshine back into our lives and even perked Tuppence up! Tuppence received her well and would let her know who was boss on occasion!! So, you’ll probably have a good experience, especially if your existing dog is well loved. I hope it goes well for you. Our new dog’s breeder sent a sweet card that said “Dogs come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are forever changed.”
Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear about Tuppence, my heart goes out to you. Lara was our first ever dog and I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same since she left us. Alice is very quiet now though and like you I hope the new dog will reinvigorate her, gosh my heart hurts. Sending lots of love to you, thank you for sharing, it means the world to me
I was talking to Ginny from Gemini stitcher about the Maison Fauve dress in gree you did bc I wanted to know (since she's been on cruise) if she thought it would make a good evening dinner dress for a cruise. I've never been on a cruise and we are looking at 3-4 day cruise for 2025 as a sort of honeymoon. I'm scared of Maison Fauve patterns but that one really caught my eye!
It’s a beautiful dress and would be totally suitable for a cruise, you could dress it up or down. It’s beautifully stylish dress but very simple to make, I’ve made 3 with another to come ! Enjoy you’ll love it
So happy for you and your new pup! We’ve always had between 2-4 dogs in our home, losing and gaining, bigs and littles, and it has always worked out. Be sure to have a meet and greet if you can with both dogs to see if they’re compatible. Hopefully T being only 10 mos will make it easier on your present dog. If can’t do a meet and greet, be sure to have them meet for the first time at a neutral spot- not your house, or your dogs regular walk/play territories, because your dog considers them HIS/HER territories and could feel the need to guard or protect. Also, lots of ‘pack walks’ as she settles in will help them bond and figure out the hierarchy. I personally don’t recommend dog parks, but some may🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for your video Cara, lovely fabrics. I am in the process of making the Zenith blouse by Maison Fauve. They have beautiful designs. Have you ever used the pdf print at home A4 size? I have just used this method and found it one of the most difficult patterns to piece together.
Hi Mary i haven’t used the pdf version of this pattern but I have several other maison Fauve patterns I imagine all the pleats on the front would be hard to follow. Ultimately as long as they are roughly symmetrical I wouldn’t worry too much about which ones you use
So what do YOU actually get out of this collaboration? You don’t get to keep the fabric you just get to promote their stock, it’s one thing to get to stroke and go wild about it but we can’t see what the garment looks like if your not allowed to keep it. I have only brought this make before a linen mix within a few months the fabric started to fray around the arm hole coming away from the bias tape I used.
Thank you for taking time to express your opinion. I’m sorry you’ve had difficulty with the fabric you purchased. You’ll be able to see more of the outcome of my makes on the lady McElroy site or on my instagram page. The finished dress is there. How lovely to have a new springer puppy, but exhausting too. We lost our beloved springer last year (he was nearly 16) and probably won't have another one because they are very active and we are getting older but they are just the best. I bet Ivy is totally gorgeous!
Congrats on target, I reached mine after loosing 5 stone, but maintaining it where I mess up, I'm now almost a stone out of target and working my way back 😊 good luck with your maintaining x

Great vlog Cara, with regard to introducing your new pup I have found that they find their own way. Pups push it the elders of the pack put them in their place. I'm a cat person, simply due to work and family commitments we've never had dogs, but I was brought up with them. Over the years we have lost several cats and always welcomed another cat into our lives. I have been criticised in the past for 'replacing' a cat. Pets can't be replaced, but every animal we have room in our hearts for bring their own love. By now you will have 'Teapot', love the name, and I know she can't have been offered a better home.
Congratulations on your Lady McElroy opportunity, it's well deserved and well done with your weight loss. I identify completely with you regarding your sewing 'habit'. It keeps me sane -ish. I am about to make my first Maison Fauve pattern, the Pilar Jacket in denim.

Loving the new fabric and your plans! You inspired me to make a co-ord set so I'm in the middle of making a Samford Set from Peppermint magazine in the hope that the summer arrives at some point. I'm so pleased you're getting a pup and look forward to seeing some photos. Alice will put Teapot in her place when she gets out of hand! I lost my beloved greyhound a couple of weeks ago and hope that I might be able to offer her space on the sofa to another doggo at some point. 🙂

4 weeks ago today I was in a quandary because my Bichon Frise named Tuppence had eaten a bunch of bird seed and was very sick. I live on an island in Alaska (USA) and a traveling veterinarian visits but wasn’t in town. So I managed to find someone in Ketchikan (on another island) who would see her. So we boarded a flight and she died before we got there. Heartbreaking to say the least. We brought another Bichon puppy into 8 year old Tuppence’s life two years ago because she had gone blind and all of the sunshine went out of her. Tuuli did bring the sunshine back into our lives and even perked Tuppence up! Tuppence received her well and would let her know who was boss on occasion!! So, you’ll probably have a good experience, especially if your existing dog is well loved. I hope it goes well for you. Our new dog’s breeder sent a sweet card that said “Dogs come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are forever changed.”
Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear about Tuppence, my heart goes out to you. Lara was our first ever dog and I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same since she left us. Alice is very quiet now though and like you I hope the new dog will reinvigorate her, gosh my heart hurts. Sending lots of love to you, thank you for sharing, it means the world to me

I was talking to Ginny from Gemini stitcher about the Maison Fauve dress in gree you did bc I wanted to know (since she's been on cruise) if she thought it would make a good evening dinner dress for a cruise. I've never been on a cruise and we are looking at 3-4 day cruise for 2025 as a sort of honeymoon. I'm scared of Maison Fauve patterns but that one really caught my eye!
It’s a beautiful dress and would be totally suitable for a cruise, you could dress it up or down. It’s beautifully stylish dress but very simple to make, I’ve made 3 with another to come ! Enjoy you’ll love it
So happy for you and your new pup! We’ve always had between 2-4 dogs in our home, losing and gaining, bigs and littles, and it has always worked out. Be sure to have a meet and greet if you can with both dogs to see if they’re compatible. Hopefully T being only 10 mos will make it easier on your present dog. If can’t do a meet and greet, be sure to have them meet for the first time at a neutral spot- not your house, or your dogs regular walk/play territories, because your dog considers them HIS/HER territories and could feel the need to guard or protect.
Also, lots of ‘pack walks’ as she settles in will help them bond and figure out the hierarchy. I personally don’t recommend dog parks, but some may🤷🏼♀️

Thank you for your video Cara, lovely fabrics. I am in the process of making the Zenith blouse by Maison Fauve. They have beautiful designs. Have you ever used the pdf print at home A4 size? I have just used this method and found it one of the most difficult patterns to piece together.
Hi Mary i haven’t used the pdf version of this pattern but I have several other maison Fauve patterns I imagine all the pleats on the front would be hard to follow. Ultimately as long as they are roughly symmetrical I wouldn’t worry too much about which ones you use
So what do YOU actually get out of this collaboration? You don’t get to keep the fabric you just get to promote their stock, it’s one thing to get to stroke and go wild about it but we can’t see what the garment looks like if your not allowed to keep it.
I have only brought this make before a linen mix within a few months the fabric started to fray around the arm hole coming away from the bias tape I used.
