    I have the Polk R100 and KEF Q350. I enjoy both of these speakers but prefer the R100 over the KEF by alot. I use the R100 as my desktop speakers for music, gaming and occasional movies. The Q350 I have connected to my TV and is used mostly for movies and occasional music. They work great for the applications I use them for. But all and all I prefer the sound quality of the Polks. R100 for me is more detailed, more balanced and has a very fast tight, punchy bass. Q350 fill the room more (they are bigger) and feel alot more forward in the mids and highs. Neither of these are fatiguing and can be used for hours at a time. Q350 are great speakers but the Polk Reserve line speakers are something else and at a lower price point.

    R200 wins by a margin for me, from top to bottom, all around better speaker in every aspect.

    The Polk truly are an exceptional speaker, the price is really just a bonus. I own a pair and know them well. They are pretty balanced which allows you to hear a difference when you pair them with different components. They certainly are not the best speaker but are definitely an all around good speaker..finding good placement goes a long way with them. If they weren't made by Polk and had a higher price I think more "audiophiles" would take them seriously. They are pretty decent..one could buy much worse for $600 when on sale.

    R200 à une bien meilleure sonorité avec cet amplificateur.

    The Q350 is donkey years behind the R200 in terms of clarity, resolution, openess and airiness. On many tracks, it sounds like stepping into a totally different realm switching from the Q350 to the R200, sound almost like the tweeter isnt working on the Q350, like all the high frequencies are forced out from that 6 inch woofer. R200 for me, easily.

      @@34332 fer real... sounded like someone unplugged that tweeter or somethin... lol! But I have to agree, that tweeter on the r200 is somethin, I like that tweeter over the ones on the 12.2. Its airy and extended, somethin the 12.2 isnt.

      I really had hard time deciding between te R200s and 12.2s. My wife wanted to keep te white ones 🙄 (yup, compromised). Both excel at different points, but the R200's did somewhat better in my room (only with a sock partially blocking the port, lol. Like many Wharfedales, the 12.2 has that magic in its midrange and almost all the time, still neutral sounding. The R200 can be blunt about that. But yes, the tweeter is nicely done. When I have a bit more time this week, I'll 'Crown' the R200s, curious what that will bring. Also have to ask my friend about loaning his XLR gear, but he's like Sméagol protecting his Precious 🤣

    As much as I have usually liked the Q350s in the past, I've been finding them very understated in the upper mids and treble lately, to the degree I'd almost have to call them muffled. I don't think it's my ears, my playback rig or the recordings, becsuse most other speakers in comparison (except the DBR62s, wich also have been sounding a bit lifeless in the top end) have been striking me as plenty bright and open. Here the R200s, while sounding a touch dry and inexpressive in the mids and pretty bright, are still more revealing, and better balanced to me than the KEFs.

    Its almost if there's something off with the 350s? In one metal track the voices are barely audible/muffled and top-end seems minus 6dB. 🤔 The Audiolab showcases its spacious, detailed and articulate midrange with the R200. Compensate for the close mic setup and be happy. 😄

    Not much of a contest for me R200>Q350. Overall, R200>Q350>12.2 , that's just my opinion, not a fact.

    The Audiolab 6000A it's a good Amp, but it really does not play loud you are at - 7 and the amp goes from - 78 to +8 it's a very low high current amp, you need easy speaker like Klpisch to drive like in the 90 db

    • @34332
      @34332 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not so sure about that. I have the same setup in a large room. -20db is loud and should be enough for the recordings (especially close mic). I suspect the output source (low) or something with the dynamic range o.t. tracks (levelmatching).

      Tanis your correct the audiolab 6000a draws 9 amps at the most during my review i said to use Speakers that are 89db and above with audiolab , The 8300a i am about to review draws 15amps and dual mono , the 8300a sounds much better with 8300a but My Marantz PM 8006 sounds best with q350 , Marantz is a little power house the 625va toridal in the power supply is 3x bigger than Audiolabs power supply drawing 45amps momentary
