I also noticed in other videos (not yours) they take the center bud out, I believe you LEAVE the center bud and take the outside ones. What is the difference in the two examples? Is one for exhibition flowers and the other for abundance?

Re. the ones grown from seed, were these your own selected crosses (known parents) or just at random? In other words were you creating your own new varieties?
Most seeds produce plants with relatively poor flowers. A good grower only keeps the best and grows them on to sell when sufficient tubers have been grown. That can take several years.

Wow. I have taken the plunge and am going to try dahlias once again, which I've never had luck with. I just can't resist them.
Go on the internet and look for a specialist dahlia nursery near you. They often send plants through the post in April.
I just can say wow.. It's an awesome and beautiful dahlia garden.. I love it.
Dahlias start blooming in July and will continue until the first frost. We tend to have coolish summers, mid twenty max.
I'm sure you can do that at any times. Make sure you keep all the soil on the roots when you transplant it

I don’t think any United Kingdom dahlia growers export. Maybe you could try Swan Island Dahlias in the USA.
