I find the best method to improve and be creative is to be original, just do it and observe what you did wrong by studying it more and find your own answers if you failed then do it until you get it right eventually it would be very easy and you will find your unique rhythm , don't copy others or trying to be like them just because they are better than what will hinder your growth,
One criticism only, middlegame is generally and taught first and is overall more important as opening relies on mere memorization while learning basic opening concepts of it is more than enough for most beginner/intermediate levels. Its probably better to train tactics until you stop blundering pieces/missing simple tactics than remembering 200 variations of the sicilian

depends on your rating, I'm playing the Vienna since i was 600 and it's so good , if you're a beginner you should learn something basic and solid like the london system, Spanish, Italian, catalan, ruy lopez ....., the queen's and king's gambits are also useful but i wouldn't recommend them if you're a beginner
