I totally agree Clemence. Catherine Deneuve truly is the epitome of the classic, elegant French beauty. I also find Catherine to be mysterious and enigmatic also. She gives you the impression that you never know where you stand with her. She hides her feelings very well. A sign of a powerful woman. Catherine is magnificent.

Marilyn Monroes favorite was actually Arpege by Lanvin. Her maid told me! And she wore Fracas and Joy as well. Vintage versions smell so much better. And Edith Piaf also wore Bandit I have read, very similar to Cabochard. Very best!

Bonjour Clémence. I've just spent a wonderful half hour sipping a glass of Jack Daniels and watching your video. Such a treat to hear you talk passionately about these beautiful ladies and their fragrances... all very interesting, and some surprises (yes, I'm looking at you, Angelina Jolie).
SOTD was Bvlgari Man in Black. I have the Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot from that collection you like and I love it. I'd wondered about getting the Myrrh & Tonka, and now I think you've convinced me.

Heh, Serge Gainsbourg sang about Brigitte wearing Shalimar in Initials BB, Guerlain later quite cleverly incorporated the song in their Shalimar commercials. They're both legends. I'm glad she wore such iconic perfumes, Shalimar really suits her.

I love the amount of effort you put into these! So many of my favorite actresses were represented in this video. I love Myrrh and Tonka, and Jo Malone in general. I'm not 100% certain if it is my favorite from the house, but it is in the top two for sure, along with Wood Sage and Sea Salt. My SotD is a sample of De Toma à Zouma from MrOz's Motif Olfactif fragrance brand. It works really well on me!

Cate Blanchett rocks. So many great matches in this one. Surprised Scarlott doesn't go for something a little more niche though. Seems like she would fit Guerlain nicely. Or maybe something from JPG in the designer realm.

Ms. Deneuve also had her own fragrance in the '80s ... "Deneuve." It's heaven. I own & love it, still. As with many vintage scents, if stored in dark, cool places, they stay beautiful over many years ... just like fine wine.

I also lie Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka. I don’t usually enjoy this brand. However I love Vetiver and Golden Vanilla which to me smells like Dior Homme edt!

Hi Clemence. I adore your perfume reviews. I was just wondering about what perfumes my two favorite French actresses, Annie Girardot and Fanny Ardant, would most likely wear??? French women are so classy.
I watched the part of Cate Blanchett, then after I went to smell the fragrance and the image of her came to my mind haha. I thought, yes this is definitely a Cate Blanchett scent. Also, I fell in love with the scent.

Always go with classic😊 I agree...Please give me recommendation for a signature sent. My signature was Chanel Allure, but some bad memories put me off...I can't wear it any more...😔 I would like something similar to that vibe...classy and versatile.

Why thank you 🙂 it's broke my heart tho one of my dream women wears the same perfume as one that my mum wears 😭🙉 you're right I imagined something more crazy and complex than Elizabeth Arden. Who knew one of my favourites Bois D'argent is worse by one of the Olsen twins I think it suits me lol. Clemence where was Bridget Bardot 😍😍😍😍 haha great research and video as always and great point about the mens and womens perfumes I think maybe us men are very adventurous but chanel and dior make such fantastic classic quality especially compared to a lot of mens houses. But maybe its the actual perfume producers not being brave giving you ladies more of a chance to explore more?
I think it's more the composition that scares the ladies sometimes. Men have a lots of fragrances focused on flower but we don't have a lot focused on leather and woody notes. It's just marketing, but I'm sure it will come !
