This is what I like listening to Pete and Martin talking about the greatest guitar riffs of the 2000's Thank You and have a great weekend Thank You Pete and Martin.🎶🎸🎸🎶
Glad to see post-2000s AC/DC, Clutch, Overkill, and Judas Priest represented today! You and Martin's excitement about the music is what gets me going! A riff that keeps popping into my head is The Black Crowes' "Lickin'" from the 'Lions' (2001) album! It's a weird riff with the kill switch, but I love that it's so unique and odd!
1. Mastodon- Quintessence 2. In flames- Only for the weak 3. Gojira- Toxic garbage island 4. Between the buried and me- Foam born B 5. Strapping young lad- Love? 6. Meshuggah- Straws pulled at random 7. Radiohead- Weird fishes 8. Converge- Thaw 9. Opeth- Heir apparent 10. System of a down- BYOB

Interesting show! Pete and Martin had zero overlap. I also have 28 picks which don´t overlap with neither one. But I ran out of choices, so I now pick up in my opinion best 12 riffs from this show and put them on my list. I start with my own original choices and then I add those 12 new choices. My Top 40 riffs in no particular order from 2000´s are : Modest Mouse : Float On The White Stripes : Seven Nation Army Jane´s Addiction : Just Because Queens of the Stone Age : No One Knows The Strokes : Is This It The Darkness : I Believe In a Thing Called Love Franz Ferdinand : Take Me Out Ghost : Square Hammer, Dance Macabre, Call Me Little Sunshine Red Hot Chili Peppers : Can´t Stop, By The Way Måneskin : Zitti E Buoni System of a Down : Aerials, Hypnotize, B.Y.O.B. @@gareththomas6496 So you would think and technically you´re 100% right, but Pete and Martin chose a lot of riffs from 2010 and further on as well. For example Portable Door from Deep Purple was released earlier this year and it was on Martin´s list.
How could you lie to me about Clutch Pete?! In honesty I get it, Like both you and Martin say there is just so much music. Keep up the great Friday shows!
I don't think theres been a single one of these series we're I've been more like: I totally know the name of this band and I have never listened to a single song by them. I'm going to change that! I have no idea how you guys keep up with bands, I have forgotten some of my fav albums! A series discussing the best 40 albums from a year would be some great curator work. PS: the Manics song Martin said is actually Send Away the Tigers :)
Popoff and Pardo are at it again after a week away unexpectedly to finish - so they say - their 4 episode series of the Greatest Guitar Riffs by decade [or time period] with those of the 2000s. This episode highlighted once again how much music that personally lost track of during that time. Have to go back and make a list of these and do some listening that hasn't been done. But always interesting to hear Martin and Pete talk music and particularly this episode where they may have occasionally picked the same band, but apparently not the same riff or song. Many thanks, gentlemen, for your commitment to this series for all of us to enjoy. There ya go!

Some dreadful stuff in here but on the other hand I am reminded of just how majestic Govt Mule are and I have now discovered the wacky but great Clutch.
There have been TONS of great riffs from the 2000s in every metal genre from the mainstream of "You Must Burn" by Metallica to the death/grind riffing on "Wide Open Wound" by Nails to the technical virtuosity of "Carriers of the Plague" by Psycroptic just to name a few.
Got to say, not sure about any Ted Nugent from the last 20 years. To me he hasn't done anything interesting since the 70's. But everybody has different tastes

Nile is the bee's knees
Some dreadful stuff in here but on the other hand I am reminded of just how majestic Govt Mule are and I have now discovered the wacky but great Clutch.
The Sword?
Da da do do da da
Maybe change the title to best riffs of the 21st century since you included stuff from the 10s and 20s
Still the 2000s
There have been TONS of great riffs from the 2000s in every metal genre from the mainstream of "You Must Burn" by Metallica to the death/grind riffing on "Wide Open Wound" by Nails to the technical virtuosity of "Carriers of the Plague" by Psycroptic just to name a few.
Got to say, not sure about any Ted Nugent from the last 20 years. To me he hasn't done anything interesting since the 70's. But everybody has different tastes
Not really a fan of Opeth or Mastodon. So many great metal bands out there and these guys get wayyy to much praise.
They get praise for a reason!
Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Iron Maiden - Paschendale
Iron Maiden - Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
