    Dropped to 32 last night here in zone 6....covered sweet potatoes. I always plant too early but most of us can't wait to get started in the garden after a long winter.. I noticed the abundance of worms too...

    Yeah! Spring has arrived and planting has begun. We love watching your garden grow! We also use cups, it does make things easier when transplanting. We are just starting seeds this week. We usually don't plant outside till the end of May. Hope you have a good week! Happy planting!

      Time to get the early crops started that can handle frost. I started the tomatoes and peppers 2 weeks ago and usually the last week in may is safe for us also. Thanks for watching.

      @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Totally agree, if it can handle frost get it in the garden. Beautiful compost by the way.

    Looking great so far. Boy, you weren't kidding about the fat worms! We did the same thing this weekend, turning up dirt, amendments and planting. Hoping no more frosts, as it was 90*! One small oversight, I forgot the potatoes, lol. Happy to see the beginnings of your growing season. 😊🌱 All the best.

      Lots of them. I think they ate too much compost 😲. We have a month before potatoes go in. Can't wait for fresh veggies. Happy gardening. Thanks for watching.

    Ooh every year I wait patiently but with giddy anticipation for the first URHC Garden update of the year! I love seeing things change over the years, how your beds have fared the winter and what your plan for the year is. I'm very late with my Garlic and onions so I'll probably cheat and buy some Ailsa Craig onion starts.

      The garlic has to go in the previous fall for a good crop up here. I haven't been able to find affordable sweet potato slips again this year. I have another taller bed to install this year. Hopefully tomorrow will be another nice day. Feels great to be outside again. Tics are bad this year though. Thanks for watching.

      @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Yep usually I aim to have my Garlic in around Oct/Nov but I got sick and then things got cold. Happened to me the previous year and I planted my Garlic around now and was still able to have good yields. I did harvest about a month later though.

    We have an infestation of the Asian Jumping Worm in Massachusetts. They are large with a pronounced white band, and they are bad news because they ruin the soil by consuming all the nutrients.

      I never heard of them before, had to look them up. What a terrible invasive species that probably can't be stopped from spreading. Thanks for watching.

    Do you have a video just on the making of those metal ( & round ?plastic? beds?
    I need a knee replacement, so I can't work on my knees like you do. Need help coming up with higher beds. A few years ago I made 2 all wood beds. The wood cost me an insane amount of money. I cud garden standing up. They are falling apart now.
    Help!

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's an lod video about them. Made from extruded aluminum pool wall slats that start out 54 inches long. The pools are no longer made and I haven't been able to find a source for the extrusions so they are no longer an option. I have a 24 inch steel raised bed to try in the next video that is the tallest I can find commercially available. I have many viewers
      like you and still trying to find taller options. Thanks for watching.
