I’ve seen most of your videos, as well as videos you’ve been on outside your channel. The common theme I’ve noticed and have held onto is that hair health is a long-term game. Even acute loss won’t be noticed for months. So reversing it effectively won’t be noticed for months as well. Find your diagnosis/diagnoses, pick an intervention you like that you’re confident will work, and stick with it for at least 8-12 months. Love the information, Rob.
Awesome as always ! Rob , can you make a video about shedding phases of dutasteride and finasteride and also taking the two together ? I guess it would be interesting to most of us. Cheers !
@BM8C7 yes , it sounds like it at first glance . However, as far as my personal research went, dutasteride takes more time to build up in the system, so if one directly switches to it and removes the fin, there can be a period of time during which neither of the dht blockers is present in the scalp. Might be wrong though, that's why I would like to hear from him.
The shedding is pretty much the same as for Minoxidil. Can last a bit longer maybe. I haven't read that Dut takes longer to build up, thought it gave instant effect like Fin.
Rob, I have some questions. I recently consulted with a trichologist, and during my trichoscopy, she showed me that I have no signs of miniaturization but rather a case of chronic telogen effluvium. What I want to know is: To what extent can the pattern of telogen effluvium resemble androgenetic alopecia? Can hair strands in telogen effluvium temporarily become thinner? Can telogen effluvium affect your hairline, making it look like AGA?

Hey Rob, I watched a video where you talked about a theory that hair loss can be linked to a tight scalp. I'm really curious whether there is a correlation between plagiocephaly and AGA.
How much value do you think a scalp biopsy has, especially for people who continue to fall below baseline while on strong meds such as oral Dutasteride and oral Minoidil? Regarding your goal of putting your members in touch with a local derm, within specific cities/states, are these derms customized based on our feedback to you or same derm within those cities/states?
Plenty of value, but it’s not always needed for a differential assessment. One of the things we do inside our site is have members buy this device, take 30-60 photos of their scalp from all different locations, then send me the photos via email. I can then look for markers that might differentiate androgenic alopecia from other hair loss types, along with markers for scalp inflammation - both of which might act as blockers for regrowth. www.amazon.com/Microscope-Microscopes-50x-1000x-Inspection-Compatible/dp/B09MRNM214/ We find dermatologists who fit our criteria (first authors of publications about the dermatopathology of hair loss disorders), but even with such rigid criteria, some of these dermatologists still do a terrible job with members (for instance, not even using a dermatoscope). That’s why we now do this step first - for the member - so they can come with a printout of photos showing markers that are not commonly linked to androgenic alopecia (if observed).
I recently visited trichologist where he diagnosed me with 45% of follicles in telogen phase😢😢😢 I'm severely nutrient deficiency in iron, d, b12, etc(didn't diagnose but I believe) for more than 10 years. I need help man!!!
I started noticing my hair falling out when I was around 18, so it's been about 4 years now, and my hairline (lack thereof) is/was starting to get a lot more noticeable, mainly in the last two years. I have been on fin for nearly four months now, with some topical min (switching to oral minoxidil) and micro-needling scattered throughout the week. Still, I have not noticed any improvements, and it seems to worsen as the "shedding phase" has not stopped, likely either the fin not yet working, or simply not working at all, or even some other reason for hair loss I have yet to identify. I plan on seeing a doctor, but it isn't easy to do so where I live; this video has given me hope, one I hope will not be false. I will end up getting a transplant one day if I can stabilize my hair loss or even regrow it, but for now, anyway, I am going to do what I can. Edit: Fortunately, however, along with experiencing no positive effects from fin thus far, I have yet to experience any negative ones, which I think is worth mentioning.
4 months is not that long. You will not see full effects from anything before 6-12 months. You should always see a doctor to make sure you know what's causing the hair loss. Regrowing hair is very hard. Prevention is the name of the game.
If the hair is already very thin but not dead, can Finasterid reverse the hair to be normal again? Is 142 pg/ml DHT in my blood low enough to stop hair loss? The nominal value is 300-850 pg/ml.
@ Yes the shedding started around 2015 continues for 3 years more. 10 years later there is no agressive hair loss anymore and I fixed the my hair loss in Turkiye. I also don't use finastride because of the side effect I guess in my case extreme stress caused a lot of hair loss.
@@chi1449 Transplanted hair can still be affected by DHT though not as likely. It is highly recommend to take fin when having a transplant unless you're older 45+
Is scalp pinching for 10-20 minutes everyday still as effective as finasteride and minoxidil plus dermarolling? That’s all you did to regrow and maintain your hair right?
Absolutely not, not even close. Finasteride at the minimum is mandatory to stop or prevent balding. Minoxidil not so much but helpful to grow more hair if finasteride results are not satisfactory.
