    Been waiting for this - cheers guys- another amazing video. Aziz’s enthusiasm for just playing and hearing the tones comes shining through. Fascinating deep dive into how the sounds were constructed - I’ll be watching this on repeat!

    I Aziz! I saw you playing in the Stone Roses in August of 1996 at Vilar de Mouros in the north of Portugal. I thought you guys were really amazing!!Second song was “She bangs the drums”, we couldn’t believe it how exciting it sounded, we lost it!! After, some people were saying Ian Brown was out of tune. I really didn’t notice it. Anyway I thought you were brilliant, it really was an unforgettable concert!!Cheers!!!

      @@jcalver80 Hi mate, as you know I just subbed. I was wondering if you could recommend a budget John Squire guitar set up?
      I was a bedroom player way back in the early 90's. I even recorded their first album on a porta studio(the 2 cassette one) which I believe they recorded theirs on?
      Anyway life came along and now as a cash strapped 48 year old with family,kids,mortgage and other *ahem* pricey hobbies, mountain bike, bonsai, so money is a bit of a squeeze.
      After watching your excellent interview with Aziz just wondered if you could advise me please?
      Still have my fender strat and an old Marshall amp, pedals got borrowed and never came bac.
      Any help appreciated
      Cheers.

      Hi mate, of course. What kind of budget are we thinking? Since you already have a Fender Strat you're well on your way, what kind is it? Mexican strat? Single coils? And what kind of Marshall amp is it?
      If I can get those detailsI can really start to recommend.

    • @edmundblackaddercoc8522
      @edmundblackaddercoc8522 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jcalver80 Cheers fella, no rush. The strat is a cream one, Mexican, I'm guessing mid to late 80's? That's when I started work, so I know I bought it then.It needs setting up again been sat in a case for years.The amp is just a practice amp Marshall g15r CD, yeah that old. It suited me back then with a few mics rigged up. No pedals. Maybe a 'can do it all pedal' is available these days? Dunno, I had my full pedal setup back then but, loaned them out, never to return think i got a wah and if i can find it a blue boss pedal.
      Cheers for this, Tech. Has moved on so much I'm swimming looking for some semblance of a setup, just for my own playing needs.
      As a budget probs around a grand?got....bit more bit less?
      As i say no rush, and really appreciate your help. Were you at spike by any chance?

    What's up with the audio on this? Both your voices sound OK, but his guitar sounds underwater. I guess that adds to the roses sound and makes the chorus/flanging more liquified, but it would be nice to hear it as it is in his room. And it's not in stereo.
    You should get him back on and sort the sound out beforehand. Really good interview anyway, despite the 8-Bit guitar. Thanks for the upload.

    • @jcalver80
      @jcalver80  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would have been nice for all that it's true, but Windows and Google meet compressed the hell out of it.
      The interview all happened very quickly so had no time to test and frankly, since I was bricking it that I'd actually got him on in the first place, I wasn't sure what to do about it at the time.
      If you have some suggestions on recording an interview and getting sound like you suggest I'd honestly love to hear what I should use in the future to capture stereo sound and not have it compressed so badly.

    Ian hasn’t bn up to much without aziz imo, he was a huge facet of his sound. Fran Dunnery was very good too but not as unique nor keyed in to Ian’s vibe

    Don't think it's right he has John's gear

    • @jcalver80
      @jcalver80  ปีที่แล้ว

      I get where you're coming from. Technically, the Recird labels gear. I guess he must have bought it off them... John could have, too. John even sold his main Fender Twin, so I don't think he gets too attached to stuff. He recently sold off loads of his personal guitars and gear too.

    • @marky1888no1
      @marky1888no1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jcalver80 I think to aquire such Important equipment that someone has made hits with doesn't feel right , I'm sure Ian and the rest of the roses would now see the historic value of them and keep them or john should have them , it's his gear

    • @jcalver80
      @jcalver80  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @markrowan7484 If that were true John wouldn't have sold his Twin though? And loads of stuff from the comeback shows. Honestly I do get where you're coming from, I just don't think the Roses feel like that...
