Wooden nickels were a thing in the Depression era. Basically, they were little wood tokens the size of a nickel that would usually be worth 5 cents worth of store credit in a particular store. Of course, if that store went belly-up the way a lot of businesses did during the Great Depression, that store's wooden nickels would be worthless. And that's how "wooden nickel" became an idiom for something completely worthless.

A wooden nickep is an old phase from.i think the 1920s. It wqs the time.where nickels was worth enough to be fake. Hence" if had a wooden nickel" it would be less than worthless.

what AHH forgot to mention is that the soviet ending is actually valid in RA1 as the original C&Cs timeline comes from that ending while the RA2 timeline comes from allies winning which is quite unique for a multi ending game. Also the Red alert 3 expansion "uprising " is actually no joke good and its a shame he didn't talk about it.
Its made as a single player game first and missions are not made to be played in coop, that and its special japanese campaign dedicated to the japanese psychic commando "Yuriko Omega" is actually good and not cringy weebish depiction of japan like in the main game but more of a hommage to cult classics japanese books, movies and anime like elfen lied and features more serious writing. Just in general you can tell that some people cared about making a good game in Uprising.
Generals is the unaltered timeline.
@@ROBOHOLIC1 no generals is its own crazy thing, it actually has a good chunk of backlore which is not in the games. Jethid is doing a serious on it currently which i can highly recommend
