Boosted Waste Oil Burner

Boosted Waste Oil Burner shop heater.
I watched hundreds of waste oil burner videos before I found a design I liked which was a design by Ota vapno which I will link too. Ota vapno's design is excellent to fit my needs Because I dont leave my oil burner going when I am not working in the shop, so it has to make a tremendous amount of heat very fast to bring the shop up to comfortable working conditions and it has to be variable. In my experimentation with this design I found that if the fan speed was too low the flame would burn out as the heat in the barrel went down. The solution I found to the flame out problem was to pre heat the air through a heat exchanger which helped the auto ignition process at low fan air supply. This helped me control the heat out put as I can pull the fan level way down, which brings the flame heat out put way down with out flameing out because the air that is hitting the oil is still extremely hot even with a low flame front in the barrel. And with my pre heated out side air that I pull into the shop past the exhaust I dont have a vacuum problem which would pull cool air through every nook and crack opening in a wall or through a window seal, It also keeps fresh air supply in the shop. I further moddified the rocket stove attachment to strip more heat off the exhaust by adding 3, 2inch pipes that go right through the rocket stove attachment turning it into a heat exchanger further stripping heat off of the exhaust, it works so well I might build another one with alot more pipes going through it to further take advantage of the hot exhaust gasses. I have also though about building a air to water exchanger to put heat into my cement pad which is already plumbed for water.
Its been an ongoing project but I am learning more and more as I go in my quest for the perfect waste oil burner.
