I especially think it's a really great ride for people who aren't big roller coaster fans, but still want some thrills and want to ride something more than just the super "gentle" rides in Fantasyland.
I love this ride so much. It’s a forgotten gem among all the amazing rides. But this one is such a treat especially if you like dinosaurs and dark rides. It’s not scary but definitely will give you a great sense of excitement and adventure.
@@diegofavaratozfilms962 the pic they take of you at the end caught me with a super nervous smile and tears running down my face 😂 I'm afraid of dinosaurs and the dark but I figured, hey it's Disney how bad could it be? I played myself lol

this ride changed my life as a kid, the part with the jumpscare dino followed by the drop was something i dreamt about for years to come and i adore animatronics now
This ride actually helped me not get scared by driving in the dark/driving in general! I get nervous about driving but in the last couple months I’ve been able to lower the nerves by a LOT by finding things to do/think that made me more confident. The first time I had to drive home in the dark, I was really nervous but then I randomly thought “hey this kinda reminds me of that dinosaur ride from Animal Kingdom” and then said out loud to myself “let’s go GET THAT DINO” right before pulling out onto the street. And it sounds dumb but it really worked!! I felt WAY less nervous after that. Now whenever I feel nervous while driving I say out loud (or in my head if other ppl are there) “let’s go GET THAT DINO” and it calms me down a bit:)
Dark places is right on that sign out front. First time riding this I didn't know what to expect and those jump scares in the dark didn't help. Turned out to be one of favs at AK.

I rode this around age 9 or 10 in 1999 or 2000 and it scared me so much I kept my head down in my mom's arm too! Now, it's a must ride every time I visit Animal Kingdom. It's the best dark-themed thrill ride on property!
Wow your lowlight was absolutely incredible! I can’t believe the details I saw that I typically miss because everything is so dark! Thanks for the ride through.
I prefer this lowlight because it gives you enough darkness for it to bring out the thrill but enough light to not be oblivious as to what is going on in the ride sequences.
I’ve been on a ton of rides in my life, but I went to Disney Animal Kingdom for the first time couple of weeks ago, this was absolutely my favorite ride in all the parks! I know you’re recording and you want all the audio but man when I was with my family we were all screaming. The vehicle itself pulls a lot of intense maneuvers and the animatronics were great. My fav part was at 08:55 ish where the Carnotaurus comes out, the flash of light also rocks the car and a big blast of air hits you, the combination actually legit stuns you for a second and with the loud roars I was shook. Thanks for upload :)
@@marysecharbonneau1580 there aren’t any big drops in the ride, some elevation changes but less than 5 ft. The vehicle itself does move pretty quick tho and turns pretty quickly if you’re sensitive to that

As a kid, this is one of the cooler rides that really let your imagination run. I still remember the "getting stuck in the mud" and "They're not going to make it!" For some reason, I thought the dinosaur held the door for us to escape at the end. For the record: The best ride is the Alien invasion ride, where you feel blood sprayed on your face and someone with a flashlight checked on you throughout the ride.
Alien Invasion is no longer there. It was replaced by Stitch's Great Escape which is now closed as well. I only rode it as the Stitch attraction, but can only imagine how scary the original was.
@@bwaybaby2010 makes sense when you realize they originally wanted the xenomorph from alien to be in the ride which probably was too scary to be in a family park. Hell, the original plan was to have the alien escape and the ending to be the scientists screaming as it killed them
Actually you are correct. Based on the light-on video, it seems that the dinosaur was exactly holding the wood that was supposed to block the vehicle---and it is hard to think why this dinosaur does that if not for the purpose of helping the vehicle through. So the dinosaur saves the guest in a way, while the guests, by bringing it back to the now time, saves the dinosaur.

This ride temporarily broke down when I went on it in 2017, luckily they turned the emergency flood lights on or we would’ve been sitting in the dark for 20 minutes with a big scary carno staring at us! Lol still loved it though
Man, Disney's storytelling and production values on their rides is just leagues ahead of everyone else, even Universal Studios. Makes the rides so much more memorable of an experience.
i rode this with my two little siblings when we were 13, 9, and 5 and we all left the ride cryinf hysterically and hiding behind our family. scariest ride at disney hands down
It’s my pleasure as always Dennis! I’m glad this ride is still around. It hasn’t changed much at all since it opened, but I personally like that! It is still just as fun now as it was then. Thanks for watching as always! 😃
This scared the HECK out of me when I was 8, but I loved it afterwards - gave me such a strange fear/admiration and I think it helped foster my love (and respect) for what real dinosaurs might be like: extremely dangerous wild animals haha. I can see how other kids would be only afraid - I already was a dinonerd.
What Austin said has rung true. Dinoland USA is going extinct and the Tropical Americas are taking over with Encanto and Indiana Jones to boot. I'm sure the Indiana Jones ride is going to look amazing since it has the same ride system as Dinosaur, and some South American animals would be nice to see as well.
I rode this multiple times as funny as the timed phrases were my favorite was the gotta find the dinosaur before security does. Thanks for the ride and may you be blessed.
When I rode this for the first time, I was with my little cousins. They were excited, I wasn’t. In fact, I was nervous. When we finished it, my cousins hated it and I loved it.
Despite this ride scaring the crap out of me as a kid and even now as an adult I still love riding it. It’s less scary than when they had the alien escape one. My aunt was so freaked out that she went to grab my hand and ended up almost clawing my damn hand off. And I couldn’t stop screaming and crying
My wife and I were at WDW in October 2019, specifically, and my back was JACKED UP. I was in unbelievable pain, but I didn't want to wave the white flag and retire to our suite. So, while trying to tough it out, we went on this ride, and the abrupt and jarring motion literally acted like an extremely effective chiropractic adjustment. I felt amazing for the rest of our trip. I don't necessarily recommend this ride to those with spine injuries, but this ride saved our trip!
This was my favorite ride as a kid. It's kinda odd, as I watched the video, the distinct smell of the dinosaurs came back to me. I didn't even know it was there but I remember it so clearly now.
They definitely toned this ride down and made it more family friendly over the years, I remember riding this almost 17 years ago and even if you watch videos from its early days from the late 90s/early 2000s the ride was a lot more jolty and they used to make the dinosaurs look more scary because the only lighting in there before was flashing strobe lights, and they also made the audio more intense back then too.
I was riding this yesterday, and it was first time ever on it. The ambient lightning effect seemed to be off, it was pitch dark except some lights on these Dino. The last giant T-Rex head really got me. So impressive
This made me cry so intensely as a kid, but I got to ride it again a couple weeks ago (20 years after the traumatization) and I enjoyed it immensely! It's super corny, but it's fun.
Imagine having a window of roughly 70 million years of Iguanodon's existence to capture one and managing to go back minutes before the most famous extinction level event in the history of the world. I ain't seen a fuck up that big since the nuclear alarm switch got "bumped" in Hawaii.
The computer is the funniest character. She literally identifies every single dinosaur immediately but then takes her sweet time identifying the carnosaurus. And then at the end she’s just like “👈🏼😐 iguanodon” like GIRL WHERE WAS THAT ENERGY WHEN WE NEEDED IT?? She’s so unserious
this rode traumatized me as a child and im still deathly afraid of it. the only other time ive ever road it was literally 2 days ago and me, a 17 year old, had my eyes closed and my ears covered almost the whole time while my 3 year old brother who is scared of everything loved it. im so scared of the dark omg
I was also traumatized from this when I was young and going on it years later as a young adult I was STILL scared and had to close my eyes. I completely understand lol
Don't feel bad. I'm 40 and rode it for the first time last week and screamed obscenities the entire time. The pic they took was ridiculous, my face smashed into my husband's chest screaming... embarrassing. This ride punked me.
Yeah, the roars are WAY louder than you hear them in the video. When the one dinosaur got in our faces and roared when I was about 13, I honest to god fought back from passing out after screaming my head off.
this ride actually fucked me up a little when i went a few weeks ago and remember it freaking me out when i was 12 and im 20 now so i thought it wouldnt be that bad but it feels like being in the rapture or something, its so visceral and not because of the dinosaurs trying to kill you, its being jerked around in the dark with bright flashing lights
maybe its just because im autistic and its not actually thar bad but im even more frustated with myself for not going on expedition everest or trying space mountain again bc they cant be as bad as this
I love this attraction so cool. Definitely underrated. I know the Dialog of this attraction by heart. I love dinoland. Animal kingdom is amazing. I always want to be a paleontologist as a kid. Dinosaurs like dragons will always be awesome.
Gonna miss this ride when it leaves. Seeing the shadow of the carnotaurus coming at you followed by the dino itself and hearing “four-wheel drive, move it!” Just as it tails behind you really gets the fear and thrill going. Forever Dinosaur, you’ll always be remembered
I remember taking this ride with my army buddy and his family a little over ten years ago. His youngest son, eight years old at the time and very intelligent, nevertheless completely bought in to the story and was convinced we actually travelled back in time and brought back a dinosaur. I didn’t have the heart to shatter the illusion and let him continue to believe the fantasy. I was worried his classmates might tease him, but he told me he figured it out by the time he returned to Canada. Well done Disney imagineers.
I FINALLY got to ride this this month and my experience was PERFECT because the animitronics worked AMAZINGLY and my heart was beating SO FAST because i was excited and scared at the same time but it was worth it! this is the best attraction at animal kingdom 🤩👍
I remember going on this ride when I was five before they remade it, after the ride was over I was literally shaking and crying from how much it scared me
@@weezerbeetle when they closed Poseidon's Fury at universal I animated that too, an entire 30 minute long movie 😭 Dinosaur will be easier the rides only 3 minutes long
I think first rode this In 1999 when it was called countdown the extinction. I was a a”tough 12 year old.”……..this ride fuckin terrified me then, and still gives me goosebumps now! It’s an absolute blast
Dinosaur ride is a masterpiece it was indeed scary to go on the rides and seeing these dinosaurs your seeing and to me the dinosaurs felt so real to me like I was actually seeing them all in real life and that I was terrified to see them all hidden in disney.
Fun fact, this ride has the same exact track layout and ride vehicles as the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. There have even been rumors of it getting re-skinned as an Indiana Jones ride at some point. Personally though I'd rather keep it as is, since this ride is unique.
It is impossible for Indy to go into the dinosaur building. Although the ride system is the same, Indy has a liiiiiittle bit more track than dinosaur does, and also dinosaur and Indiana jones are built differently structurally, and dinosaurs building just doesn’t have the infrastructure to house Indy. They’d have to completely rebuild the building
What worries me is that Disney is apparently considering replacing Dinoland USA with an area themed around either Moana or Zootopia. I really don’t want that to happen!
I found this ride terrifying as a kid i was 10 years old and went I got off of rides with intensity this was before I was a thrill junkie my legs felt weak and I didn't know why
One thing you can’t feel with the video is just how much that car throws you around. Still one of my og faves at Disney. Backlot tour was number one. RIP
The lady playing "Dr. Marsh" is PHYLICIA RASHAD ("Clair Huxtable" from "The Cosby Show"). As for the guy playing "Dr. Seeker", he's WALLACE LANGHAM ("David Hodges" from "CSI: Crime Scene Investigations").
I rode this back in 2002. This ride terrified me when I first rode it. Then, I rode it 2-3 days later and was fine with it. This video brings back memories.
The first time I rode this, I was terrified of it. The ride photo even showed me hunched over with my eyes squeezed shut lol. But we're going back soon and I'm determined to ride it again.
I remember I went on this ride back when I was 4 and I was terrified of this ride and I never went on it again but 3 years later I went on it again and i found it less terrifying
this ride's been near & dear to my heart since the early 2000s & for most of that time i never noticed the giant meteor effect at the end. it's a real shame it's not more pronounced bc i can picture what the imagineers were going for w that scene & it could have been incredible
So you go to find a Iguanodon, yet you teleport your scientists SECONDS apart from the asteroid strike??? We couldn’t go like a MILLION years earlier or something!?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Pure Disney quality I expect from Bob Chapek at 7:31 ! If you look at the big dino's throat you'll see what I mean.... Note: not trying to be mean or ugly, just joking around. Just clarifying, have a nice day! Also, great video!

Gonna be hard to see this one go. Had a great time having the opportunity to ride this attraction on my senior trip in 2012
Imagine having a window of roughly 70 million years of Iguanodon's existence to capture one and managing to go back minutes before the most famous extinction level event in the history of the world.
I didn't think I could smell something through a screen but I've rode this so many times that it's etched into my brain
this is one of two rides at Disney World I consider to be genuinely scary. i love this ride so much
What’s the other ride, if you don’t mind me asking?
@@DocStef9 or haunted or something but most likely tower of terror
@@chaosshadic40what about harrypotter or revenge of the mummy or the simpsons ? i know it's in universal studios.
It’s being removed
this rode traumatized me as a child and im still deathly afraid of it. the only other time ive ever road it was literally 2 days ago and me, a 17 year old, had my eyes closed and my ears covered almost the whole time while my 3 year old brother who is scared of everything loved it. im so scared of the dark omg
haha lmao thats funny
I was also traumatized from this when I was young and going on it years later as a young adult I was STILL scared and had to close my eyes. I completely understand lol
Don't feel bad. I'm 40 and rode it for the first time last week and screamed obscenities the entire time. The pic they took was ridiculous, my face smashed into my husband's chest screaming... embarrassing. This ride punked me.
@@jasminemonroe304 lol it really is one of the scariest rides at Disney.
Yeah, the roars are WAY louder than you hear them in the video. When the one dinosaur got in our faces and roared when I was about 13, I honest to god fought back from passing out after screaming my head off.
"THEY'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT THEY'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!!"
Half a second later
"You made it! I knew you would."
the woman voice from the time rover vehicle made the ride so much more intense and scary lol
this ride actually fucked me up a little when i went a few weeks ago and remember it freaking me out when i was 12 and im 20 now so i thought it wouldnt be that bad but it feels like being in the rapture or something, its so visceral and not because of the dinosaurs trying to kill you, its being jerked around in the dark with bright flashing lights
maybe its just because im autistic and its not actually thar bad but im even more frustated with myself for not going on expedition everest or trying space mountain again bc they cant be as bad as this
I love this attraction so cool.
You know what I like the ride Is literally just called dinosaur
I remember going on this ride when I was five before they remade it, after the ride was over I was literally shaking and crying from how much it scared me
Who is here after hearing that Disney announced they are closing it?
Im animating it in 3D professionally as a goodbye to it, went on 5 times in a row the other day to say goodbye to it!
@@WhackyWyatt awesome !!
@@weezerbeetle when they closed Poseidon's Fury at universal I animated that too, an entire 30 minute long movie 😭
Dinosaur will be easier the rides only 3 minutes long
@@WhackyWyatt fr, I watched that animation! you did a really good job lmao
@@weezerbeetle I finished the dinosaur animation! It's on my channel now and it's about 100x more detailed and with actual proper lighting!
"Computer now what?"
8:54
"Carnotaurus"
@@fernogaming6201 besides. Indiana Jones doesn't really fit in Animal Kingdom.
What worries me is that Disney is apparently considering replacing Dinoland USA with an area themed around either Moana or Zootopia. I really don’t want that to happen!
@@knightofarkronia9968I'm never going back if they are.
@@knightofarkronia9968 That would be the stupidest thing ever
I found this ride terrifying as a kid i was 10 years old and went I got off of rides with intensity this was before I was a thrill junkie my legs felt weak and I didn't know why
The launch of this ride reminds me of the original version of Test Track so much
I remember when I was 10 I was terrified to go on it, then it instantly became my favourite!
One thing you can’t feel with the video is just how much that car throws you around. Still one of my og faves at Disney. Backlot tour was number one. RIP
Such a shame it’s being replaced 😢
I love this ride so much.
It's telling this ride scared me so bad when I was younger that the only thing I remember well is the shop at the end
“THEIR NOT GONNA MAKE IT THEIR NOT GONNA MAKE IT”
2 seconds later
“YOU MADE IT, I KNEW YOU WOULD”
If you weren't traumatized by this ride as a kid did you even have a childhood
We need a second movie
9:17 I’m twenty years old and I ducked and closed my eyes here hahahaha
The lady playing "Dr. Marsh" is PHYLICIA RASHAD ("Clair Huxtable" from "The Cosby Show"). As for the guy playing "Dr. Seeker", he's WALLACE LANGHAM ("David Hodges" from "CSI: Crime Scene Investigations").
I could argue this is better than the jurassic park ride
I’m going to Disney World for my 30th birthday! I’m gonna go check out the dinosaur ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
i could literally smell the loading station area😂
I’m on god gonna miss this ride bro
I rode this back in 2002. This ride terrified me when I first rode it. Then, I rode it 2-3 days later and was fine with it. This video brings back memories.
The first time I rode this, I was terrified of it. The ride photo even showed me hunched over with my eyes squeezed shut lol. But we're going back soon and I'm determined to ride it again.
I grew up watching this movie
I remember I went on this ride back when I was 4 and I was terrified of this ride and I never went on it again but 3 years later I went on it again and i found it less terrifying
this ride's been near & dear to my heart since the early 2000s & for most of that time i never noticed the giant meteor effect at the end. it's a real shame it's not more pronounced bc i can picture what the imagineers were going for w that scene & it could have been incredible
“Welcome To Prehistoric Park, Life will find away, spared no expense ”
Thank you for this
You did a great job capturing this ride! Videos like this will mean a lot when the ride is sadly converted into something else. God bless ❤
So you go to find a Iguanodon, yet you teleport your scientists SECONDS apart from the asteroid strike??? We couldn’t go like a MILLION years earlier or something!?!? 🤣🤣🤣
They uh... Didn't think that through very well.
Maybe you affect the timeline less if you grab something right before it would be destroyed anyway.
Seeker wants a specific one, not just any run of the mill Iguanodon.
A lot of Disney fans hate this ride but I enjoy it a lot.
Pure Disney quality I expect from Bob Chapek at 7:31 ! If you look at the big dino's throat you'll see what I mean....
Note: not trying to be mean or ugly, just joking around. Just clarifying, have a nice day! Also, great video!
Ride definitely needs maintenance that's for sure :)
My favorite ride, I'm gonna miss it😢
