- Why do axe handles break? Are throwing axes subjected to the same issues as an axe that’s not thrown and only used for chopping or splitting? Are there ways to stop or prevent axe handles from breaking? Yes and no. In this video I give some scenarios on how axe handles/throwing axe handles can break. I also give some helpful info and tips on how you can try and prevent those handles from breaking. Of course no handle is perfect and we don’t actually know if a handle will break or not. But if we can give that handle every advantage to succeed, then we should right? Let’s go over some reasons as to why Axe handles break and I’ll give you some info from my experience that I think some people look past when hafting and setting up a throwing axe!
