An alternative to the first part of this sequence: push head down + sprawl + float (uke gatame) to back (all while getting really heavy with a lot of weight and pressure (leaving no room for sunlight)) ; another alternative: finish while locking up body triangle
Sometimes I do, if they keep there elbow really tight. What I usually do is threaten the near side collar grip, and they bring their hand up to help defend it. This separates their elbow and let’s you get a start on the knee wedge.
Ah ha. I have something to try tomorrow. I have weak back control from turtle. I generally go for a guillotine or clock choke. Both are highly effective for me.
No kneebar here Jake, as you’re leaning off to the side of them. I think the kneebar is possible if you’re knee that’s on the picking leg we’re directly behind their hips rather than beside. Hope you’re doing well bud, let’s catch up soon!
You ever have trouble picking the foot due to opponents keeping their heel tight to their butt? I started using a belt and collar grip to push their hips up in the air slightly so I can get my leite hook in. Curious on your solutions.
Yes I do the same, but I also use my knee behind their hips to help bump them forward. Another thing I like to do is drop them back to their side by blocking their elbow and knee and dragging them to their hip. They usually re-turtle immediately, and it gives me another opportunity to pick the hook or just insert the bottom hook altogether.

Most "back takes" are just guard pulls from behind.
