After searching at least 30 videos on the culture of Lithops, yours, by far, is the most succinct and comprehensive. Thank you so very much. My daughter and I are very happy with our new Lithops purchase and now feel confident we have repotted them correctly and understand their specific life cycle that you described so very well.
This is perfect timing! I bought one last year that had two in one pot; I separated them out of the nursery pot last June and repotted them into separate tiny pots using special bonsai soil mixture. Last week one was looking so shriveled I thought ut oh...I watered it and now it’s splitting... so exciting😀 I can’t wait to see the new babies! They both live in my S facing window and they are adorable! Thanks for the video. I can’t wait to buy a new color. I did think they were slightly boring but when I saw the one starting to split it was a game changer.
I just got my first one gifted to me and didn’t know what I was looking at!! But now I know, thank you so much!! So looking forward to caring for this little plant!
i know right they look so fricken cool and weird they reay do resemble a rock when you think of them rowning in the desert half buried in sand its pretty funny to think how much they resemble a stone
Thank you soooo much. I just got free Lithops from Mountain Crest Gardens & just replanted them from the little pot they came in. I did use a succulent/cactus medium...very gritty,pepply... your explanation of their care was excellent...I adore mine just like you!!! Thanks
i allso fell in love soon asi first ever saw themi still only have one it has not split or flowered for me yet i live in australia and bught mine at garden world and its a brown one realy cool patern though too
Just bought a lithops and I love it and am quite excited. And thanks god I watched those vids before watering them, as now is not the right time to do it! And thank you for the info and sharing your passion!
thanks for the awsome video it has helped me to keepmy first one i own alive and know what time to stop watering and much more i especialy liked the use of animation very cool
Got a bee in my bonnet and ordered some lithops off Etsy. They came about a million in a 2 1/2 inch pot and they are Adorable! I know I need to repot cause they're wall to wall and teeny tiny. Not going to do anything till I get my pumice. They are going in my "sunshine room" that has the grow lights. Thanks for all this information.
Great tips! I bought a grouping last fall of 5 and love them!!! I did lose 2 as when they were pushing out their new baby I took the mom away too soon... Live and learn! I just bought Bonsai Jack brand soil which I hear is perfect!
I first saw Lithops when I did my apprenticeship as a gardener and I've been in love with them ever since. I need to get some again, but unfortunately they'renot common where I live at all
SO many questions answered. Thanks Erika! I killed my first one because I knew nothing about the care. My new one just pushed out new babies but its getting SUPER tall. So clearly I need to move it to more light. I was worried about when to water again so, thanks!!
OMG!... now I'm going to positively without a doubt HAVE to get my first cute-as-can-be tiny little Lithops, because every time I look at them I will be reminded of you! ~ Erika Lodes your excitement and love for them bubbles over in such a unique and elegant style, I was tapping the back button to replay parts. Thank You!!! ✍)))
THANK YOU. Just thank you. I got my lithops in the mail today and I was looking more in depth of how to care for these little guys and the first two videos I watched were SO confusing and discouraging! Thank you for making it easier to understand ! 😅 wish me luck
I got a lithops like 2 years ago, but I didn't know how to take care if it and it unfortunately died :c today I got a new one and your video is really helpful! Thanks for your advice
I love my lithops. They are currently all splitting and one looks like it’s giving me triplets seems to be a lot down there. Exciting times to come. Thank you for your video. Def learnt a few things going forward
you got scamed dear suculants and cacti dont realy grow from seed i dont think let me know if they work though would be good to buy infuture for my own garden
Thanks for lithops growing tutorial 😍 I’ve think they are so cute, an have killed two in 30 yrs. Now with your teaching I might try one again 😀 Great illustrations ❤️
Thank you for that video! It's so helpful! I just recently got my first lithops and I'm so falling in love with them. Can't wait to see how they grow and to get more of these cute little guys. Unfortunately the selection in my country is so poor. I ordered a few from another country. Can't wait to get them already! 🥰💚🏜️
Very well explained. I don't know anything about Lithops, at first i didn't like them at all. Now i find them such a cuties. And bought a bunch online yesterday. The were deliverd today and i don't know if i have to be disapointed. They don't look 'bright'. They are very little Lithops clusters. I find the color poor. But maybe i am wrong about that. As they are soooo little/small like a needle i don't know if i should seperate them. Thanks for this great video, i learned a lot!! 🤩😍
I love your very descriptive video, I brought 5 Lithops about 2 months ago, no watering yet. I’m in Australia and you have helped me to understand when and when not to water them. We are going into winter next week . I look forward to watching more of your videos and I’ve given you a big tick and subscribed cheers Marg
Thank you for this video! I just bought this plant 🌱 and it’s one of my favorite succulents. Mine is a purple color and I only have one since my parents house is not the brightest . I pretty much just buy low light plants that are easy maintenance. Mine just split open a little and I’ve only watered it once this month so I’m not sure when to water it again. Maybe in June I suppose. Love your collection.
You really got me into lithops!! I re-potted the first one I got into 100% perlite and it rotted .. idek why cos I didn't even water it at all. But, it's okay, I got more after that first one. I used maybe 70% perlite and 30% soil and some aquarium rocks for top dressing. They're doing okay so far, and no signs of rot. Hopefully next year, they flower for me :)
Thanks for the info. I love my lithops but I had no idea that they flower. I keep mine outside, they get morning sun and they look beautiful. I've been watering once a week but they're in little Terracotta pots so the water wicks away quickly 💚
Thank you very much Erika, great video. I’m new to Lithops and one I have is splitting exposing new leaves, so I’m pretty excited to watch it develop and I’ve noticed a couple of others look like they may be starting to split. It’s the end of winter here in Australia . I love your videos your sooo expressive 😀
I'm was very sad 😥 just one little princess i had it 😢 die 💔 never seen anyone again, now I'm seen your video of them ❤️ they pretty take care of your princess, beautiful lovely cute
I was just gifted a Lithops. She said I should probably water it. I'm afraid to, as I've heard how easy they can rot. It is the 8th of November & we're facing 4 nights of nearly freezing weather, with highs around 50*F. This Lithops looks dry, BUT, it also has THREE sets of leaves! The bottom set is clearly receding, but not fully dried up. The second set is open & revealing the 3rd set, which together are about 3/4 to 1 inch across longways. It seems to be on a thin stem, as well, as it moves around easily but goes back to its starting point, when I move the little pot from side to side ... but ... not like it's necessarily attached. IDK what it needs, but IDT it's me! Any advice???
im smiling the whole time watching this, coz the way you talk with your hand. i literally look at your fingers like its your mouth hahahahahhha sorry. im being weird but im entertained. i’m dying to have one!!
Just watched your video on lithops, loved it👍 I just got my first 2 last week. I am in love with them too❤️❤️❤️ I've had lots of different types of succulents for 2 years now but there is something about the lithops ❤️❤️❤️
I like these little things they are cute, when you started to get them an, I thought they looked like teeth lol. hopefully you get some seeds would love to see the sprouts I think they will look even cuter. Loved the video and the animation was pretty cool. Have a wonderful day.
Great video! Split rocks are actually totally different and also ugly cute lol. People get them confused and I did too until I joined a group on Facebook. Love your videos!
The old one shrivels away? 😥Thanks for all this info 😀. i always had my eyes on these but hesitated. haha...i know how much you love these cuties! They ARE cuties!
It’s autumn! Time to water! Tip: Start with a light watering and work your way up to drenches. Watering should end at early or mid October. You actually don’t want perlite as they hold water, everything else you said is correct for soil.
Super helpful, thanks! I’ve only got one but I mistakenly planted it with some cacti. It’s all good but I’ll be reporting it with some other Lithops soon.
i recently gotone of these cuties andnow my sister wants one p.s im only15 she is 21 but i have looked after mine ever since i first got it and i hope it will split eventualy will let u know ifit does and what color flower it has its a brownone kind of like a tiger eye gemstone type patern
Thank you for your video. I just bought my first group of these little plants. Video very informative. Can I grow them under a grow lamp? How close to the grow lights? Thank you Dot Cherkas
Thank you so much, this video was so helpful. I’m wanting to get a split rock, but working on learning more first. 😊 I’m so concerned about killing them.
So I have a history of forgetting to water plants... ☹️ But I saw a Lithops at Lowe’s today and then I saw that they didn’t need to be watered for like months at a time... I was like.. woah this is the plant for me! Thank you soo much for the advice ima try not to kill my Lithops. Unrealeated thing I named my Lithops Herby! Ye I know I’m weird oke have a great day!!!!
Thank you! I am new to this plant, but when i saw them today at the garden centre, i just couldn't go past, too cute. They had a lot of dry shells on them, i took those shells out completely, i hope it's ok. They don't show any flowers, and i believe they all are new babies, so if i understood correctly this is the time when i should water them, right?
This is by far the best explanation of when to water/care for Lithops. Love the animation. Made total sense.
Esmeralda Burgos for real, damn, this is the most informative video. i needed this.
Ahh!! Im so glad you liked it!!
It was great, I've been researching this exact thing. She did great.
That animation is TOO CUTE.
Oh my gosh thank you 😭😭

Purple is so pretty!! That is so cute!!
Your video is very cute and informative. I think you have greatly increased my lithops' survival rate.
Loved this video! You have the most straight forward explanation of their lifecycle which helped me heaps! You've inspired me to buy more Lithops 😅
Just got my at Lowe’s today. I was super excited to see them at a big box store. They’re not even available at the local nurseries.
Haven’t even finished the video yet but I’m so excited for this video! I △⃒⃘lways want them but know nothing about taking care of them.
Hopefully now you can get one!! 🤩

looks like growing these guys is a little more complicated than I thought.. I'm about to give it a try though. Seeds arrived today.

Great video, I grew up in Namibia and love these Lithops, they are easy slow growers, but their biggest enemy is over watering.
I'm was very sad 😥 just one little princess i had it 😢 die 💔 never seen anyone again, now I'm seen your video of them ❤️ they pretty take care of your princess, beautiful lovely cute

@@ErikaLodes I know right? but they are still very cute
Good tip on not buying ones that are in wet soil. I have bought a few that were wet and overwatered from the store, none of them made it. Buy dry.
Your voice is so relaxing
I love lithops but keep killing them from watering at the wrong time. Thank you for this video. The cycle visual is so helpful and cute!
Outstanding! Thank you
Great video! Split rocks are actually totally different and also ugly cute lol. People get them confused and I did too until I joined a group on Facebook. Love your videos!

Aren't you thinking of Vermiculite? It does hold water, but, Perlite actually floats in water!

Wow what an amazing little plant! Now I want one!
U gotta get one!! 😄
Super helpful, thanks! I’ve only got one but I mistakenly planted it with some cacti. It’s all good but I’ll be reporting it with some other Lithops soon.
Cool Ty for the vid
I heard you should only have one of two in a clay container because of there long root system?
Loved this! Thank you
Love my lithops 🥰

Awesome video.
You are the cutest succulent! 🥺
I grow mine in 100% pumice and they do fantastic in it. 👍🏼
Thank you so much, this video was so helpful. I’m wanting to get a split rock, but working on learning more first. 😊 I’m so concerned about killing them.
Very nice video, Erika. I will try not to kill my first lithops. Btw. I really love your enthusiasm :D

Yayyy Iv been waiting for this video thanks! Idk why but I became obsessed with these guys 💚💚💚
Same here! The obsession just clicked & here were are lol
I've been watching videos about lithops before I bought some seeds.
Thanks for this lesson! This is the best! I will have to try them!!! :)
Thank you! I am new to this plant, but when i saw them today at the garden centre, i just couldn't go past, too cute. Omg the animation 💘💘
I am in Canada, so long winter might be a problem for sunlight, should I get a grow light for them?
