@@threewheelerdonuts8284 My friend had a 650 Triple and My Yamaha Attack beat him .. Then he got a 700 Triple Ultra .. I still beat him badly and that really hurt his feelings..
I love my Nytro! (as well as my friends' Cats, Polaris - Polarii? - and Doos). Not sure why Yamaha made this one - as comic silliness, it's funny (and Cindy is pretty hot!) As a legitimate ad, it's kinda dumb. BTW - where in Minnesota are those big mountains?
Your right I also have two strokes as well I was just skeptical about that comment because I have had 4 burn downs on different sleds when they had near 10000 miles on them but that was because the mechanics we had did not know what the heck they were doing like they leaned them out or never checked proper stuff like for mouse nests in the airbox. but the two strokes I have now are more reliable like the mxz blizzard 600 ho sdi or my fan cooled touring le 380.
Lemme tell you about 2 strokes and 4 strokes. Johnny's NEW Yamaha is 40 pounds lighter than Ernie's 20 year old Polaris...because Johnny's Yamaha is made with terrifically expensive light metals. Engine output, and torque for a 4 stroke is only JUST matched because it is made with very expensive titanium parts. When you rebuild that expensive titanium engine, it will cost you 3 times what it costs to rebuild a 2 stroke.
Andy Wohlleber it is so true 4 strokes almost never break down I myself have a 2010 yamaha sidewinder 600 4 stroke and my dad has a older 1999 polaris xc 600 2 stroke and he s always breaking down once he blew a belt and 2 spark plugs in one ride from ojr house to camp wich is only about 2 hours away and you know the good ol yamaha 4 stroke started up 1 st pull and I was off they. Are Lso a hell lot lighter once my sled was in the shop getting a new set of slider skis and suspension so I took my dads sled for a rip in some nce powder on anearby mountain and buried t in about 2 feet of snow and my sled can be jn 4 feet of snkw and e perfectly fjne and get out like nothing
It all depends how you run your vehicle. A 2 stroke can run a really long time if you take care of it. But yes overtime a 4 stoke dose last longer than a 2 stroke because of better oil supply but using a good quality 2 stroke oil and taking care of it you shouldn't have any problems with a 2 stroke breaking down. Plus most snowmobiles today are 2 stroke and are becoming a lot more advanced. Providing good fuel economy because of direct injection and great power output and are becoming a lot more reliable.
Don't you think it would be 40 pounds lighter...after all the Yamaha is 20 years ahead of the Polaris in the video. Just the fact that the 20 year old Polaris is running is proof of the 2 strokes strength. And the Polaris product in general. Now lets have a look at the POWER CURVE OF EACH SLED. Yes the Yamaha has a flat power curve, very manageable...it has fuel injection, programmable computer controlled also. Its like a car engine. It should be very manageable.
Well, the pre-historic sled might take more time changing the suspension, but if something went wrong with one of the yamaha`s, they would have been sent to NASA for repairs.
Saying the Yamaha has a very manageable power curve is like saying a cherry should taste like a cherry! The Polaris is 20 years old..it may not the flattest power band, but I dare say it doesn't hit like a hammer either. Ever rode an old el-tigre? how about a king cat....those things had one speed...ON. The Polaris in the video HAD a very manageable power curve, MUCH better than the sleds of yore....you can tell by the design. Triple water cooled cylinders, and triple tuned pipes.
Andy, every engine is prone to grenade if not taken care of. Because you personally never ad a four stroke blow up on you does not mean it will never happen. There is a reason why 2 strokes became so popular, their inexpensive to make, and fix, and make more power per cube than a four stroke.(physics....2 strokes have a power stroke every other revolution) The reason 4 strokes are used now is not because they are better,(they are not) its because 2 strokes burn oil and smoke.
My opinion is this. You are comparing 2 completely different set-ups The Yamaha is sweet, agreed...how much is it? The Polaris you can buy for 1000 dollars used. In my opinion. You can buy a much nicer 2 stroke for much less than a 4 stroke. they are easier to work on and cheaper. Buy 3 of them for parts and live a happy life forever riding a 2 stroke. The newer two strokes also come with fuel injection, auto lube, smooth power and don't burn through spark plugs as older sleds do.
Ever wonder why the majority of sleds at hill climbs and races are 2 stroke? Because you can wildly over bore and jet/pipe a 2 stroke. A 4 stroke comes delivered at its maximum, it has to in order to keep up with the 2 strokes. Folks, if you keep rolling over soon you will have wind or solar powered snowmobiles....all because 2 strokes smoke a little bit, and burn oil. Don't let the greenies run over you.
Made this Polaris smooth. This is all greenie weenie stuff. that YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR! Sled prices jumped a thousand dollars or more when the greenies outlawed 2 strokes. And YOU are paying for it initially, and when you rebuild. And rebuild on one of those 4 strokes is sooner than later because in order for the 4 stroke to make as much power as the 4 stroke it has to spin faster, and be lighter. We all know what happens when you burn a candle at both ends.
Then the US became obsessed with ''saving the planet'' and the two strokes were booted out the door. You know..they smoked 2 strokes are bad mammer jammers...The only way a four stroke can make power like a 2 stroke is to have a pressurized intake charge. (either a huffer or turbo) and you know what happens when you spin all those valves that fast? Kaboom! So the 4 stroke engine makers made the engine from un-obtanium to take the revs. And YOU paid for it, and will again when yours dumps a valve.
I remember my grandpa receiving a DVD with this promotional clip in it. Watched it a lot as a kid. I remember well Cindy smoking her bacon 😅.
This video makes 2009 feel like a lifetime ago
I think the clip is actually from 2007
They say that they're lighter, but Yamaha won't release a spec sheet with the weight on it.
That Poloris Ultra 700 was not as Heavy as a Yamaha 4 stroke .. RX-1Ton
@@mikeskidmore6754 I believe the sled they used there was a Polaris XLT 600

if i could afford one id get it but for now 2 strokes are pretty nice
it does not take 20 minutes to replace spark plugs I can replace two of them in a minute and a half.
It does for Ernie he’s a ‘tard
I guess it's pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to stream new series online ?
@Soren Carmelo Flixportal
@Lennox Travis Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it !!
@Soren Carmelo Glad I could help xD
Etec would eat that thing up! Two stroke for life!

2 strokes I've had require plugs replaced so much the time is important but with a four stroke not a big issue.
Funny how they had to compare it to a 2 stroke that is like 12 years older than the Yamahas. But I get this was just supposed to be funny.
Jessica Messica more like 20 years

They should compare it to a rev or some newer more advanced 2 stroke then a 80's or 90's sled.
