    I'd like to see that antique set in person bc I only saw one jewel tone on camera. I would be interested to see what it looks like in hand!

      I will make that one a priority for the metallic watercolor series!

      Thank you! They are glue on nails from Glamnetic! Not sponsored, but they have the best press on nails on the market in my opinion!

      They are press on nails from Glamnetic! I think the name of the set was Aurora?

    I've got the Paul Ruben's glitter water colour set and was very dissapointed you can barley see the glitter but gorgeous palette in dark green. Can't wait to see you swatch those. I bought the pochade box too but it didn't have the grips or anything. Love the soho paints but can't get them in the UK 😢

      Awww I'm sad you can't get the Soho metallics! I've been playing with them and I have to say they are a GREAT budget option so far!

    Have you seen the honey Watercolor I’ve been making. I think you would love them since you like granulating color. It’s my favorite

    I am not an expert in PanPastels by any means, but I did take a class using them at my local college. We used Phthalo Blue, Diarylide Yellow, Magenta, Titanium White and instead of black we used Ultramarine Extra Dark. We were able to mix all the colors except I could not get a good yellow green, which you already have. I later also bought the Chromium Oxide Green because I really like that color lol.
    Also we had all the Sofft Tools, but I found the tool I used most (gave the best control) is a sponge/stick from a set of 50 or 100 cheap eyeshadow brushes (the kind with sponge tip at each end) I bought on Amazon. I used the big Sofft sponges for background and the eyeshadow sponges for details and small spaces. Because the eyeshadow sponges were so cheap I just used a different end for each color so that I could control mixing. And when I felt they were too dirty, I just threw it away (not great for the environment because of the plastic so another reason to stick with one color per sponge, imo). The pastels really stain the sponges and even though they recommend that you just wipe off on a rough paper towel to "clean" them and say then they won't contaminate, I worried about muddying colors.
    I just used copy paper for my "mixing palette" so I could throw it away between sessions.I found it easier to mix colors on the "palette" and then apply the mixed color to the work. I really enjoyed the PanPastels and they are the least messy pastels I have ever used.
    Also another tip from a different class at the college lol, if you take Talcum powder, real pure talcum power without aloe or other stuff, and mix it on your palette with the pastel it will make it shimmer.

      Thank you SO MUCH for this comment! I absolutely love your insights here and definitely have seen others using the eyeshadow applicators for pastels before! I also am definitely going to try that talcum powder trick, I love love that! So many fun things to try for videos with these supplies!!
      Thanks again for taking the time to comment with all of that info and for watching!

    You need Primary Yellow and a Primary Red, which would be Hansa Yellow and Permanent Red. With the Ultramarine blue you have you can mix any color you would need.

    • @artsykristy
      @artsykristy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I definitely need some better primaries - thank you so much for the recommendations!

    I love pan pastels, but I stash them away and forget to use them. Don't be like me! As for colors, I use a lot green, yellow and blue. Yellow ochre and Paynes Grey are staples.

      Thanks for the tips and I definitely want to get these out to play! I love the idea of using them under alcohol markers specifically!

    I bought the same "pochade" and mine not only cost more than yours, but it was also missing the wooden bit at the bottom of the outside front panel (which was present in the photos of the item), which means it cannot be used as an easel (because there is nothing to support a sketchbook or drawing pad), so it was essentially just an overpriced box. Also the black wood stain that has been applied to it to make the wood look "fancier" rubs off every time I touch it and leaves my hands all sooty (which is not great if I then touch paper either!). I was pretty disappointed. I will try glueing a piece of wood to the front and varnishing the box to stop the stain rubbing off constantly. But it wasn't even that cheap considering one can find similar boxes on sale for not much more... !

      Ugh that's so frustrating! I haven't used mine yet - but I did see that Jerry's had something similar on sale recently for not much more than Temu prices! I know sites like this are always a gamble - so we shall see if it holds up once I put it into action. Thanks for watching and sharing!

    See, why can’t ALL palettes come with enamel tins??? You need somewhere to mix the watercolours…I don’t like when they just give you nothing like that SoHo one you showed (in package) but it looks like no lid

    • @artsykristy
      @artsykristy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Soho one has a plastic clear lid! For metallics I mind it less, but yeah I like a nice mixing space too!
