      Dps build is not the only way to play this game ,skill and airborne attack can be useful too

    are there really "builds" in this game? it seems like its all DMG Cap + Supp DMG + war elemental +char unique sigil etc

      Well, we don't have much variations yes, and this is one of the saddest part imo. Since damage capt, supp slots killed the creativity. Referring to character building in general.

      Actually. Yes..
      You can make a build with fight or flight. Giving you perfect dodge on every dodge, but you take a 50 att power nerf.
      Then you can use Sigels that give you healing, damage, cd, and immunity Duration on perfect dodge
      Use Lance twin slice, which can be spammed and also attacks, and can count as a dodge giving you perfect dodge, and spec right like 4 sec of immunity.
      This can be Spammed over and over making you all most unkillable

      This is like special case and that build is busted man, seeing it as like an exploit to be honest. But hey its there. I remember seeing this one soloing Galanza and Maggie with the Triangle attack lol

    I can see how this can get frustrating for the hardcore min maxers and people that want to do literally every single quest to S++ in the game, but I've gotten 130 hours out of this game and I haven't even maxed out a single characters MSP board yet.
    Hell, I've only played with 2/3rds of the characters, and I'm only good with like 1/3rd of that. Still haven't beaten story mode on Ultimate difficulty. I can easily get another hundred hours of fun out this game and still not hit the damage cap wall where I need to stack up like 3 or 4 damage cap sigils. WELL worth the $60 bucks.

    So, how would I know how many Damage Cap Sigils I would need?

      Maxing damage cap is a total of 65 levels.
      4 maxed out damage cap 5s will give you 60. The other 5 levels can be found by alot of other means. Wrightstones, terminus weapons, so on

      the best way to see how much is test this on the dummy as you add cap and dmg skills. Bear in mind your balancing survival too unless you never get hit.

      ​@@plastikloserI mean most things in Proud difficulty will 1 shot you anyways, so the best survival you could do is learn how to guard and dodge. Whichever your more comfortable with I think it's common everyone learns how to dodge and have incorporated Improved Dodge into most builds.

    I think this is where I"m just fed up with the game. I went into it expecting a straight-forward action adventure affair but instead got the usual gacha annoyances, something I generally try to avoid. Given the source material, I suppose I should have expected it but still. After "Granblue Versus: Rising", I let my guard down.
    It's not even like I'm new to these kind of heavy material grinds. I've played various Monster Hunting games and I'm a semi-completionist so repeatedly killing the same enemies over and over again to check off all their drops is nothing new to me.
    But this goes even further than that. Everything is so reliant on RNG that you are just pissing away resources hoping for something decent, if not wasting them entirely on wrong gear. Heck, even after hundreds of them, I still haven't gotten any Supp. Damage or War Element sigils from the curios. Not to mention how stupidly this Damage Cap system limits builds. And you need to focus it due the DPS checks. At least for me...this is just not fun. And I still haven't even started the Terminus Weapon grind, which apparently is also horrendous.
    I think I'm going to have to stop playing solo and just jump online. I'm only partially into Proud and I just don't have it in me anymore.
    I really want to like this game as I think it's an okay enough action RPG but I feel like I'm going to absolutely hate it by the time I'm done.

      I feel you in some of the parts you mentioned Shadow. Although I find the grind generally fun, there are a lot of things that I wish to be changed. And I will list them:
      - War Elems and Supp V are common but getting a Supp V+ is like winning in the lottery. Unless you are very lucky and Curio results are seeded. I wish Supp V+ have normal rates like War Elems and regular Supp.
      - Terminus weapons are ok to farm, in fact I have gotten almost all of them like in a day's worth of farming but, I wish they could've made it accessible faster even if a new players managed to hire many characters when starting the game.
      - Damage Caps are ok but I am not a fan of it. IMO, it kills build creativity for. Damage Caps and Supp Dam, eats almost half of the slots.
      Aside from that, I do have issues but most of them are quality of life.

    I see DMG cap as an interesting thing. On one hand, it limit the damage that we can do, giving more option to various other build, on the other hand, it's kinda annoying how it limit our damage. Me personally, i'm building my character with survivability, comfort and decent damage in mind. Maybe i'll not giving the biggest damage, especially on co-op, but at least i'm not dying a lot *kinda*.

      I would really love to have maximum freedom in making character builds thus I kinda hate the damage cap thing. This feature can still be around but, it would be ideal if we can max it out in just one slot.

      ​@@JRPGSamuraiyeah, it might be better if we can maxed out damage cap with only 1 or 2 max lvl dmg cap sigil rather than using 4 max lvl dmg cap sigil + wrightstones. The only option i can think of right now is using 4 max lvl dmg cap sigil that have good secondary trait either for utility or survival, like potion hoarder, autorevive, anything aside from the "necessary" sigil for max dps build. The thing is, getting those damage cap v+ with good secondary trait is not an easy thing to do. I'm trying to do that but boy my sigil collection is kinda random

      Yeap, working my way on getting good traits on my Damage Cap V+ but I really want an update where we can just use 1 to 2 slots of For damage Caps and same for Supplementary

      Depends on Skill level. But yeah, that's one of the reasons why I hate Supp and Cap takes up a lot of slots. People can slot in more def oriented traits if we have more.@@Clavitz1

    100% crit + Stamina or Tyranny reaches dmg cap so there’s no need to equip both…you should base your build around one or the other instead of robbing yourself of a valuable sigil slot

      It is the optimal one yes, but believe me I do not have much better ones thus, you are seeing it both equipped. Its just an example too.

    Supplementary damage sigils are completely useless on characters that grant supplementary damage(for example Ferry, Narmaya, Lancelot, Zeta, etc). The only sigils you'll need are damage cap, character specific awakening+, stamina, and crit (optional sigils are war elemental, stun, linked together, and uplift

      @@JRPGSamurai the sigil details literally say it only raises the chance of causing supplementary damage and skills that give that buff increase the chance to 100% right off the bat. Either way it only increases the chance and the supplementary damage will always be 20% extra damage so if and only if you have both the sigil and the skill then the sigil is a complete waste of slot

      @@kirayamato3181 i understand but indeed you can check it across the board, it enhances the damage and you can do the testing as well. It will not add another attack but but increases the bonus attack. Supp Damage is indeed a staple sigil for narm.

      @@JRPGSamurai i just want to clarify a couple things.
      1) I'm not saying the supplementary sigil is bad in any way but there's a bit of misinformation being spread about how the sigil works.
      2) Supplementary damage will always be 20% extra damage and that will never change no matter how many sigils you have for it
      3) For example Narmaya's skill 'Dance of Pink Petals' will give her 100% chance for supplementary damage so it makes having that sigil equipped with the skill useless but if you don't have that skill equipped then having that sigil on her is good(the only downside is without that skill her high level gameplay becomes more of a struggle especially with the upcoming boss Lucilius that will deal 40k damage in 1 hit)

    Why no one talks about Critical Damage sigils? I think they're better than Tyranny because there is no negative side and you will be hitting 100% critical rate at the end game.
    Am I missing something here?

      because you hit caps without high crits, its a useless stat

      I would love to use it but as cavs mention it, kinda useless if we are already hitting the cap. Also, very limited Sigil Slots. I really kinda hate this Damage Cap thing, it kills build creativity.

      Many people use Tyranny to bring them under the 45K HP that is needed for the Catastrophe trait on Terminus weapons.
      Also, I believe Crits only occur on normal attacks, which is why there is the Lucky Charge sigil, which allows them to occur on charged attacks. Then when you consider that skills and SBAs have their own damage caps, they appear to be treated separately and aren't affected by critical either. Crit Damage is good early on, but once you start hitting damage cap when you get into the end game missions on Proud difficulty, it will end up being a wasted slot.

      When you test it out Tyranny seems like a multiplication and every other one is an Additive.
      You can test it yourself. Go to a dummy.
      Max your crt chances to 100%, max your damage cap.
      Once those are done put 1 crt damage on and test your damage then replace that crt damage with the tyranny, and you will notice you do more damage

    The big problem is rng to get the good sigils, specialy war elemental, and upgrade that sigils to 15 is a lot of grind. I know u can upgrade doing slime rainbow, but they never appear in my game yet( i did over 105 times this quest).

      yeah this is true. That's why I don't rely on Rainbow Slimes. Indeed upgrading V+ Sigils takes time.

      Run Slimepede Maniac as Rackam. You will see those rainbow slimes in no time. The more you kill, the more chance a rainbow slime spawns. I did this last night, and killed a few lol. Upgraded like 20+ sigils just from doing this, and its a good way to make rupies + vouchers + msp as well

      @Official My man is rng, i did with Rackam too over 100 times killing 100 slimes and not a single one rainbow. They really need to change the chance of him appear.

      To be clear about prismatic slimes. You want to be killing 230 - 250 ish to increase the odds. I did this in a party last night, and we actually saw prismatic slimes 2 runs in a row maybe hard to believe but it legit happened. In fact there has not been one night of farming slimepede that i haven't seen at least 1 prismatic slime within 50 runs as soon as i started running it in organised 4 man rackam parties. If you aren't seeing them, you aren't killing enough slimes per run and have poor odds

    The actual damage cap calculations are more complicated that your explanation implies though. There are separate damage caps for normal attacks, skills and SBAs. Damage Cap sigils don't specify any damage type, so pressumably it is affecting all damage. The question is: How is this being applied? Is it just added on to the existing values for each cap, or is there a second cap that applies to all damage types?

      There are basically 4 different categories of damage cap
      Sigil + Imbue (shared). Not worth it to imbue damage cap, since 4 damage cap sigils is enough to reach sigil cap with terminus weapon
      Anything that does not add to the t.lvl of dmg cap, is seperate from it meaning it adds to whatever t.lvl damage cap you have
      Catastrophe - seperate from sigils, meaning it will add to the 250% you get from t.lvl 65+ damage cap on sigils
      Glass Cannon - will add to catastrophe + sigils, but will inflict dizzy status if you take damage so some people don't bother using it
      Over Mastery - Normal\Skill\SBA cap up will add to all of the above
      So basically you want t.lvl 65 or higher on sigils
      Terminus weapons catastrophe will push that 250% even higher as well as boost your damage, but you must be below 45k hp for it to work
      Glass Cannon will push it up even further but is optional since you become a sitting duck if you get hit
      Over Mastery normal\skill\sba cap up will push it up even more
      Supplementary damage will give you a chance to hit an auto attack after an attack, and this counts as a seperate attack so the damage cap will not lower its damage
      Most setups will look something like this
      T.lvl 10 crit rate up weapon imbue
      Then Sigils
      Crit Rate V
      4x Damage Cap V
      1x War Elemental (makes your characters element not matter, for example if an enemy has fire resist your fire damage will hit the same as it will an enemy that is weak to it)
      2x Supplementary Damage (70% ish chance to auto attack after each attack)
      1x Tyranny V (lowers hp and raises damage, needed to make catastrophe work on +99 terminus weapons)
      1x Stamina V (raises damage based on how much hp you have, even at low hp you still do 7% more)
      1x Aegis V (raises your hp back up a little, since tyranny dropped it a lot. This will put you around 40k hp)
      Rest is all utility + character unique sigils. Remember you can get secondary traits on + sigils, so try to get crit rate +, damage cap +, tyranny +, stamina + and aegis + to maximise efficiency of each sigil slot. You can also get supplementary damage + sigils, but good luck with that XD
      Then over mastery
      Crit Rate Up - 20% (with the crit sigil + t.lvl 10 crit imbue, you will have 100% crit rate if you roll 20% on over mastery). This is the most important, if you are always crit on each hit then your damage will not fluctuate meaning you are doing max possible damage per hit so long as you have the right damage sigils equipped.
      Normal, skill and sba cap up - the amount is not as important as crit, just a nice bonus if you can get good rolls on these caps. Priority is normal > skill > sba

      I disagree with this for anyone that doesnt have their ascension or terminus weapons leveled and/or they want to use the other weapons for whatever reason such as I like to use the stun weapons for farming certain fights for part breaks without slaughtering my target haha.

      if you are talking about breaking body parts, stun is great for this true. but a patch was added not too long ago where you don't need to break body parts anymore to get the loot, it will drop in chests now. the time you spend breaking body parts, you could have killed the boss 2x anyway with the right build. But if you absolutely want to do this, you would be far better off just temporarily replacing either sup v or some of your damage cap sigils to lower your damage and replace with stun power since sigils grant higher t.lvl than wrightstones can@z1
