John, you may remember that last year, you cordially invited me to be part of your Sink or Swim episode about honoring our veterans, and the 9/11 tribute. It was an honor to speak with you; born in America, but wirh Ukrainian family roots; as you likely know too well, my neighborhood of Brighton Beach was littered with organized crime in the '90s. If it wasn't for my mother, a single mom, who raised me the right way, my life might have gone a different path. It would be an honor to meet you one day in person, as you are one of the few in this genre who walks the walk. You also appeared on my dear friend Chris Meek's podcast, and it was his best-rated show. I cry every time I watch that scene in A Bronx Tale, where Deniro explains to his son: "It's easy to use a gun, but try getting up every day in the morning and go to work." Your life and advocacy is proof positive that "the working man is NOT a sucker." Blessings to you and your family from out here in Sheepshead Bay 😊

    John,
    I am a Genovese.
And I've heard so much passed down from family.
Even though I have never experienced any of that life, I know you are genuine and you have so much knowledge with everything.
Not many could have done what you have or been through all of that and still be sitting in that chair with those Gucci shoes to live to tell..
    You have gained your respect.
And you have an inquiring audience to prove!
    And it's so true..
After people living that street life and going to prison for a long haul,
Well that gets old after a while. Not to mention we get older.
New opportunities arise and chances to change ones life comes around.
Maybe a chance they didn't have when they entered in .
    Seasons change, people change .
Who wants to stay locked in a cage for the rest of there life?
    It doesn't sound appealing..
    So forget about it!!!!!!!
Everyone wants to speak but doesn't even have a clue to what it's like.
    Keep doing what your doing!
    I love to listen in...

I was waiting for you to call out all of the so called mobsters and tough guys. Honesty is the best policy, whether you’re a good guy or a gangster. I like that you have owned up to everything and turned the rest of your life around. My father delivered freight to some old school gangsters in Chicago in the 70’s and 80’s, and he told me they were true gentlemen until you lied or tried to screw them. Those stand up guys he said are either dead or in prison. Keep up the good work. This generation coming up needs to stay on the right path.

John, it is rare in this day and age to find honesty & altruism displayed with such dynamic force. My reference to your altruism is born from your willingness to state truths that are not beneficial to you in anyway or may even be harmful to yourself, but has the expressed intent of benefiting others. Who Cannot RESPECT That?

That is very true... A true tough guy does not matter if he is a Mafioso or a regular guy is somebody who learns to adapt to being sufficient enough to be independent and does not need anybody.... The group strong tough guys eventually crumble and don't truly have any respect from anybody... A real tough guy is never afraid to die since that is the the life he chose and will learn to be humble but strong at the same time.... GENTLEMEN or being HUMBLE. to me it's the same thing.... Being humble is long term thinking in combination with being independent is key.... Forget about it.... Great points alite... Till the next time hang low and stay humble my friend

    Great post.
You have a great outlook on cops /
    FBI vs Gangsters.
Nothing personal on either side just business. One side has a job to break the law the other to catch them doing it.
Only thing is, if a cop or FBI guy will do illegal or unethical things to catch a gangster or frame him up then they'll do it to anyone. That's garbage.
And you're doing a big service for some guy who thinks he can be a gangster, thinks its such a great life.
To steal one of your phrases hopefully it "straightens them out" only in the right way.
By the way, those are GREAT shoes. Seriously. What kind are they?
    Stay safe, God bless.

I was waiting tables at the restaurant I work in last week and John walked in with a few friends and I recognized him and just so happened he was seated in my section so I was his waiter. The guy seated next to John asked if I thought he should get the crab legs like John ordered or a steak. I answered him and said well personally if I was John I would’ve ordered a steak and not the crab legs. So when I came back to check on them I noticed John had that same pair of shoes sitting on the table in front of him. Then I noticed he had no shoes on so I realized it was the pair of shoes he’s wearing in front of him on the table. So I asked is everything ok? John says you see these shoes right here? I said yeah. He said unless you’ve walked in these shoes then keep your opinion to yourself! He said I’ve been coming here since you were in diapers so you don’t need to tell me or anyone else if the crab legs are better than steak here. So John stands on business in case you didn’t know!

Yup. My stepdad was in the life 70’s - early 90’s. You may have met him. Mike “Novel”
of Novel Vending. He walked away early 90’s, got out of vending. Said most or all operators who were still in the business were dropping dimes. Later a guy who did business with him years ago got whacked, Joe Rossi in NJ, and I understood what my stepdad was saying. I did 3 years at FPC Montgomery, easy like Sunday morning, and I learned a lot about the system and until you see what happens you don’t know. Take it easy JA!

This is a truly stand up street guy. I was never out there like he was, but had a window into that life because of my neighborhood.
We described guys like this as good guys to know, but good guys to stay away from.
Look at his mugshot photos and try to say he wasn't the real deal.
That mugshot isn't a guy that wanted to be glamorous like the movies, it's a guy that was out there to survive.
Clearly he did the dirty work and most of the others were just about the image.

No Gene beat the $h!t out of Felix’s gf. I don’t wanna get into the details but just know that she’ll never spike a volleyball on any man ever again! I’m sure Gene will share the incident as soon as the Wilson logo imprint is gone from his face.

You’re wrong John you’re the one who put your life on fucking wide-open so everybody could see it and hear your stories so that does open it for people to fucking call you out so you’re wrong get out of that field if you don’t want nobody talking about you

The biggest gangster is the hard working honest man who kills himself to stay out of trouble and support his family. A guy like me, who lived on 20 acres and gets to go fishing and hunting and riding my toys in the woods. Honest living. Books, publishing company, apparel company, speaking gigs, radio show. My wife and cats. That's gangster. These weaklings are so jealous of others. Weaklings bro. Just laugh and go

When he says fact or fiction, you are the fiction he's speaking about. You never lived one second in or around that life. Every fairy tale you tell is a total lie. You're an embarrassment to yourself and your law abiding family members that you lie about. You're an absolute joke. You're just too mentally unwell to recognize that everyone knows you're a pathological liar. Your shattered ego and identity crisis are the funniest part of the TH-cam "genre."
As for the "weakling," look in the mirror and you'll see the weakest wannabe in the history of wannabes. As I've offered many times, meet me in any lawful, legitimate gym, dojo, ring, octagon, cage or any lawful forum whatsoever and see if you can remain standing for just 60 seconds and there's a nice payday for you if you can and even remuneration to offset any out of pocket expenses and your time just for showing up. You're way too afraid and way too weak and unskilled. Bring your "wam' and"bam" fairy tale running mouth and lets test that jawline. Bring anyone or anything that makes you feel safe. All just"good sportsmanship" you'll survive - man up - beta boy wannabe - or continue selling those wolf tickets. The people around him know who I am and so will you if you're not too chicken. 😂
