Got mine at a flea market with hard case for $150. Was an attic buyout. My favorite gigging bass so far. [EDIT] The seller said it didn't work. I knew it just needed a battery.
In 2012 I purchased one of these babes in a pawn shop in Houston/TX for 150$. I recorded some Tracks with it, and didn't give it lots of a thought (main instrument is acoustic rhythm guitars). It was only last week when I found out someone was selling a used piece of 'em for about 1,500 bucks. Now I know why every single person called me an a*-hole when I told them how much I paid for this instrument. Spent some time with it though lately and found out it is a pretty good thing!!!! Greetings from Austria!
I have the exact same bass and the exact same problem, shaky input jack. Must be a design flaw. Too bad because It looks, feels and plays great. Very Big sound from the active EMGs. If you open it up there's some dip switches to choose the frequency of the bass control.
I have a bass set up like that, it's fun. Sometimes you want the low notes but with the playabilty of a 4 string. A 24 fret active bass is a good choice for that because they're generally designed so playing up high is comfortable, and you don't get such a dull tone up there with the active electronics. That way it's more reasonable to just play the stuff you'd normally do with the G string 5 frets higher.
I'm glad it's not just mine that has that pop and hiss problem.
I could solve the plop problem. Could you solve the hiss issue? Thanks for a feedback.

Never knew that about the internal switches. Cool.
I plan on purchasing one of these and install thicker strings--that is, the lowest one will be like one on a five string.

how about vs peavey millenium 4ac? thanks
This guy is trying to sell us a crappy bass. And the whole time it was a torture for him too. All he wants is to take away his bass problems. Fuck.
