Sir, i owe you part of my grade and my current mental and emotional stability. Im a good writer, but when it comes to formatting I have no idea how to do it, be it MLA or APA i can just never remember how to do it correctly. I was having a big panic attack trying to find the right way to cite my sources, and your video is so concisely explained with the right amount of humor, seriousness, and empathy I needed to set my feet back on the ground. thank you so much for explaining all of this. the visual aid is also amazing. i wish you happiness and health forever
Thank you so much for your video! Googling, reading, and going through examples of in-text citations were very confusing and not enough to help me learn the process, but your video did!
My friend is so stressed out because she has a professor that refuses to give her a direct answer on how to properly in-text cite a author and a organization both together in (1) parenthesis. Or the correct way if that is not the proper way it should be done. Can you please give an fair example on how to do this properly with one author w/ a organization and another demonstrating the proper way to in-text cite multiple authors w/ a organization. Because we cant find the answers on how to in-text cite a author along with a organization without them trying to switch or swap one for the other .

I am still stuck at one question. I am doing research on Sartre. I have mentioned some other writer's work that has worked on related topic. But I want to use the same quote of Sartre that he has used in his work. Now what should I do?. Should I mention Sartre here or that writer who's work am I using as reference?
Thank you so much for such an informative video, my students loved it (especially YIYI and MIA). However, there is no information about citing websites
Covering all source types in this video would have made it too long. I refer students to this guide: drive.google.com/file/d/1G-cZEABrnxNGihdVT04LpdrtCUMASgOd/view?pli=1
It is indeed so very useful . I have quoted multiple quotes from the same author . Can I use the time stamp for intext citation. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you so much, sir.
In one example the quoted text is in quotation marks and in the other it is in italics. Was this just illustrative is there a standard between the two or are the specific to each type of quotation?
Any chance of clarifying how MLA differs from other referencing styles? I find, from this segment, MLA style is easy and uncomplicated. But usually, some academicians have one preference over the other. I'd stick to MLA, given the choice.
MLA is designed for literature and the humanities. If you go deep into the MLA Handbook, you'll see specific, arcane examples. APA focuses on the social sciences. A problem occurs when a school or professor tries to apply one style to all disciplines.
The format for an online video is: "Title of video." TH-cam, uploaded by Screen Name, day month year, th-cam.com/users/xxxxx. I should have included that one.

All MLA in-text citations follow the same basic format: author last name + locator. If there is no author, use a shortened version of the title. For internet sources, the locator can be a page number, line number, section number or paragraph number. Here is a pdf of the bit.ly/mlain-textcitationformats.

You forgot the period after your URL on the Roth Works Cited citation.

You use the secondary citation format. I have a video on it.
How to cite reference for film article ?

clearly presented. Thank you 🙏❤
Well articulated! But, I have a question on in-text citation with no page numbers? Hope I can get your feedback.
If the source has no page numbers, use a section or chapter number. If those aren't available, use n. p.
It is indeed so very useful . I have quoted multiple quotes from the same author . Can I use the time stamp for intext citation. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you so much, sir.
All quotes would be cited the same: (Author pg.) Only use a time stamp when citing a video/audio.
Amazing. I hope I will benefit from your presentation in my exam. .Thnx 🌸
Best success!
Awesome explanation, thanks man
This is all I needed but some TH-camrs just over explain things so thank you 🙏
Glad it helped
This was bloody luvleh’
thanks Dear. It's indeed helpful.
I was worried for a second as the article had no author name, thank you so much! 😭
You got it!
In one example the quoted text is in quotation marks and in the other it is in italics. Was this just illustrative is there a standard between the two or are the specific to each type of quotation?
Just illustrative. Italics are used for quotes only in special circumstances and outside the body of the paper.

Is shortening an in-text citation with a long article title something you’re allowed to do?
Yes, if you're using the article's title for the in-text citation, you can shorten it to the first five significant words.
Thank you sir for sharing valuable information and pdf...

Dear sir!
How do we cite anonymous author, example Everyman page 36. Author was unknown.
It depends on what citation style guide you are using. For most, use an abbreviated form of the title in place of the author's last name.
@@peakdavid Thank you Sir! Most research I did said the same thing, like shortened name of the title. But that is another mastery.
Thank you for this video, somehow the thing I forgot how to do for a paper was in text citation 😅
Ouch.
What if you have to cite a website with no page number or author?
Begin with title of web article. If there is no article with a title, begin with name of web site, but now the source is suspect.
What to do if we dont know the page number or any location but only know the author's name?
Use only the name.
What about internet sources?
All MLA in-text citations follow the same basic format: author last name + locator. If there is no author, use a shortened version of the title. For internet sources, the locator can be a page number, line number, section number or paragraph number. Here is a pdf of the bit.ly/mlain-textcitationformats.
im never going to use this in cullanary shcool

I thought the locator was supposed to be the date LMAO
You may be thinking of APA style.
What is the difference between a "narrative" citation and a "prose" citation. I'm confused!
No difference. Two words for same thing: When the author's name is a functional part of your sentence.
thank you sir
