Ironic how Nicholas Cage sounds more grounded when he's voicing an animated character

More people should talk about the Mitchells. I loved how Katie and Rick eventually grew to understand each other, and it was wonderful that they causally mentioned that she was gay, by mentioning her girlfriend, showing that it's no big deal.

1:47:32 Originally they had the idea of him joining three other wisps who were waiting for him to show the four brothers were reunited. Little sad they cut it.

Kevin McKidd voiced that character and wanted to actually speak Scottish dialect in the movie because of him being Scottish, he also plays Dr. Owen Hunt in Grey's Anatomy ☺️🖤

Lesson learned from 'Brave': Be specific about spells.

I still say an additional bonus of her giving herself and the three sons of the lords a say in who they might marry is that they all basically owe her (big time), and that that could be a good way to secure an oath of loyalty to her when she becomes queen and they become the lords of their respective clans.

1:37:07 Merida asked for a spell that would change her mum convinced that that would change her fate of being married off. The prince asked for a spell that would give him the strength of ten men convinced that that would change his fate of being denied what he believed was rightfully his (to rule the kingdom solely without his brothers against the wishes of their father).

1:43:52 They told us right at the start he doesn't believe in magic.
Iron rule of good storytelling- nothing is ever brought up unless it's going to be mentioned again later. Even if it's just a case of a main character noticing a tree near a bus-stop half way through the story and then noticing it again at the end of the story.

1:27:47 Young MacGuffin is speaking Doric, a dialect of the Scottish language that is so old and somewhat obscure that even the people who speak it sometimes get confused trying to understand each other. The script just had him saying random gibberish things, but instead his voice actor (who actually speaks Doric) suggested they have Young MacGuffin speak Doric instead to give a nod to the language and heritage of Scottish people. He said "Since yer sayin' it an' ah wisn't there t' see it maself, I'll gae ahead and take yer word fer it though." Tanslation: "Since you're saying it and I wasn't there to see it myself, I'll go ahead and take your word for it, though."
Also, fun fact: Young MacGuffin was supposed to be the one to end up with Merida, and I have to say that I'm a fan of the "quiet, shy introverted gentle yet strong giant x the smaller, wiry spitfire who's passionate about life and stands up for justice and fiercely defends her loved ones" dynamic. And I like that they're both equal parts "warrior" and "sunshine."

Honestly my only issue with Brave is that I’m not the hugest fan of how the went from “interesting family drama” to “interesting magic plot.” Like they’re both good on their own, but they don’t really mesh that well put together, or at the very least this movie didn’t transition between the two very well. Honestly it might’ve been really interesting if the magic bear plot point was that Merida was turned into a bear instead and her mother had to learn how to communicate with her, maybe something like “our bloodline is cursed and I don’t want what happened to so-and-so to happen to you, hence my strictness.” It would end the movie on a nice note of “yeah, Merida has a right to choose how she wants to live her life and her mom has to learn how to communicate with her, but Merida also needs to learn responsibility.” It would also be cool at the end for Merida to shift from “learning how to be a princess” to “learning how to rule a country.” Anyways, just my two cents. The movie is pretty good, it just has some issues getting from point A to point B.

For the wisps, the gases in bogs can make little bursts of flames and the chemicals can create poisons and you see stuff before you die. But also they are supposed to be lower form faye folk that lead you to be kidnapped by fairies. And Brave is really a mother daughter movie and it’s awesome. My Maiden name is Stuart, americanized in 1772 when my family settled in north carolina. I’ve been obsessed with scotland for a long time.

I enjoyed all these movies and the brave movie controversy did confuse me cause I just looked at it as a mom and daughter growing up/ coming of age but for the mom and daughter lol so idk why people got made cause when I get together with the boys we act stupid and wild so it’s accurate to most guy friends groups

1:37:13 "Need to find love? Guess what- BEAR!" That's actually the plot of "Brother Bear 2." And there are a bunch of other issues that were tackled by turning someone into a bear in the first "Brother Bear" movie. I would HIGHLY recommend giving both of those movies a watch if you haven't already!

39:23 "Swimming is not a thing you just DO." I beg to differ, when I was 5, my mom took me to the local pool to sign me up for swim lessons, and I basically taught myself how to swim. She can float, but she never learned to swim and she didn't want me to grow up that way. Also, we're in California, and she wanted me to know how to swim since we're so close to so many beaches.
While she was waiting for an instructor to free up so she could discuss details of enrolling me with them, I was waiting with her wearing my swimsuit, on the steps of the shallow end, within arm's reach of her. I realized I could float my body on my stomach and keep my head above water, with my hands touching the steps. I started "walking" back and forth on the steps this way like an alligator, and eventually let go of the bottom and essentially taught myself how to doggy-paddle... She didn't quite notice that yet, though.
She had just gotten one of the attendants to come talk to her, but in the moment she turned away, I had doggy-paddled away from the steps and out into the shallow end of the empty pool (which was about 4 feet deep.) The attendant pointed to me and she called me to come back while trying to hide her panic that I was swimming unsupervised without any floatation devices or kickboards in water that was around 6 inches deeper than my height. I just swam back to her without batting an eye. Ever since then, my family have always known that every summer when the weather is hot enough, I will inevitably want to go swimming.

46:10 I'm glad this was (likely) not a venomous coral snake around Grug's waist, as indicated by this rhyme- "If red touches black, you're ok Jack; If red touches yellow, you're a dead fellow!" On the other hand, it's likely a constrictor snake and it WILL strangle him to death if he doesn't take it off.

1:12:11 I looked up what haggis is, and in terms of some of the strangest dishes I've learned about, it doesn't sound too "offal" (awful... I'll see myself out) but it definitely raised an eyebrow from me. I copied the description from Wikipedia: "Haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and cooked while traditionally encased in the animal's stomach." Here, "pluck" is the heart, liver, and lungs of the sheep.

ppl say orientation week is where u find ur ppl and just go hammm... but my orientation week was mostly getting along with those in te same dormatories while learning the universitiy guidlines, day after day on a schedule with 'fun bonding' activities despite the fact most of us werent even in the same course and ended up forgettig each other after orientation, cuz we meet our coursemates way more often...
i really wanted to experience an orientation like that with like clubs inviting u with open arms, communities running wild and people just going hammmm! but what we got was clubs just opening small booths on a singular day (that many ppl were too busy), communities are al basic subject-focused ones due to the fact its the TOP uni in my country and we gotta stay professional and people all being respectful with one another.. partying? planning to hang out outside? none of that occured for me personally cuz i couldnt understand the current latest trends or wutnot... :D

The boys torturing Maudy just means they are that much more little terrors because her breast being out and her being more plump that the other maids probably means she was their nurse maid ( it ensures that babies live incase the mother passes or needs help with plural births).

  • @lyndsycarson8302
    @lyndsycarson8302 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

With Brave; The political implications of her not accepting a marriage would’ve lead to a full on civil war, drawing out other allied tribes of the 4 main ones. Not marrying off his daughter would have lead to him being overthrown since it seems like none of the other leaders had daughters to marry to his sons. Merida would have known her entire life that she was being prepared to lead one of their regions after being wed to one of those boys. Her formal dress is actually wonderfully accurate, however all high social class people would’ve had garments specifically made and fitted for them so it either took to long to make or her mom had them make it smaller to make her hips look broader because the sons could have been war mongers and rejected her in order to go to war and claim her fathers thrown. The movie creators spent months in scotland gathering folk stories, and scenery. The mother of the scotsmen speaking what sounds like jibberish actually speaks that language and had to translate it for the voice actor while he read his lines, actual language, can’t remeber what it’s called.

1:59:01 I'm pretty sure at the very least Linda knows Aaron is autistic because she homeschools him. She had to have learned what his learning style is an has probably also had him assessed. I have no shame in saying that my mom had me assessed when I was around Aaron's age because I went to a public school and she knew something was "different" about me. My diagnosis isn't part of the DSM-5 anymore and now it's just included in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD,) but at the time, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
