Loved this video James. What a beautiful GoldWing you found. I see your hopeful route for 2024 and its a good one.
It's been a ride I have hoped to do for a few years. Getting to lots of places I have never been.
My late mother had relatives in st John's, your scenic videos in Canada are fantastic! Reminds me a lot of here. Happy healthy and prosperous New year from Bonnie scotland!🇬🇧
Grandparents on my father's side came from the North Sea coast, north of Edinburgh. Some of our geography matches Scotland and Ireland for sure. Happy New Year to you!
Good to see you buddy thanks for the updates very nice looking gold wing lots of chrome. We are getting a pretty dirty snow storm right now in New Brunswick have a great day take care
More chrome than most Harleys! I'm going to have to clean her much more than the old ST.
Love the opening fire. Man, that's a beautiful wing. Rich had a 92 Aspencade 1500 with 180k miles before getting the 1800. I'm sure the viewers don't mind the late videos your travels are fantastic. Now you are semi-retired lol. Hopefully, our pass will cross. The ending of you stepping out LOL!
My first Wing and I loved the looks of it as soon as I saw it. Muust have had a look at 6 before I saw this one. I'm hoping we will get to meet this year too... fine turning routes and then... well, route planning works until at least the first gas stop.
Congratulations on the new bike, And Happy new year.
Thanks and Happy New Year back at you. Here's to a safe one.
You are going to love that Goldwing! Looks like it is really in great condition.
I think the nicest I saw in my search... that's why I said yes! Looking forward to riding her.
Best wishes for the new year to you Jim. I sincerely hope 2024 will be less EVENTFUL than last year. I hope to see you around Barachois Pond Park before the head out from Newfoundland astride the new Wing.
Thanks Rick, we'll see if I can't get out to Barachois before really hitting the road. Will need a shakedown weekend for sure.
Happy new year jim bike looks great can't wait to see it pull Henrietta around glad your getting better
I'm looking forward to my first test pull. I'll get a thousand kms on the Wing first so I get used to her. Hope to do at least one shakedown camping weekend before I get out on the road.
Bonne année 2024!
Voici un 2024 sûr et aventureux!
Cheers!!😀👍
Have a great year!
Thank youi... have an adventurous and safe 2024!
The goldwing should work very well for you. Look forward to your next adventure 😊
I'm looking forward to getting on the road... got 6 months tp prepare. I think I will be in a much better state of readiness this year.
Looking good buddy 😮
Thanks. Feeling good for an old guy.
Hello Jim, Hope you are thawing out up in Newfoundland. I ran across your channel a couple of weeks back and have been binge watching as I await the delivery of my Mini Mate and plan my first adventure, which I hope to be early April. Will head over to central AR to observe the total eclipse at an IBMC event. Perhaps our paths will cross in the coming year. Look forward to bourbon and a campfire. PS the new to you Goldwing looks great. Doc (Another Old Guy)
Hi Doc. We've gort a blustery ole day here today on the coast but not getting as much snow as the rest of the island. Still waiting for a decent weekend when I have a trailer available to go get the new ride. At least it is wintering in a heated garage (wonder i"m not being charged rent lol) Newfoundland is a big island... got an 8-9 hour drive each way to get her. I'm planning to be out for 3 months this year starting early July. Hardly fit for riding let alone camping here til June. I hope you enjoy your Mini Mate as much as I enjoy mine. Best camping investment I have ever made. It keeps me on the road. A bourbon and a campfire would be great. Planning videos coming up soon.
@@OldGuyonaBike Not to rub it in, but it is 67F today in Memphis. Enjoy the rest of winter.
Riding and camping weather! I wouldn't begrudge anyone getting out. With that temp I would just want to be on the road but I do need the winter months to make some extra $s so I can be on the road longer.@@DocLord901
@@OldGuyonaBike I would love to be out but am recovering from my second back surgery in 15 months. Getting old isn't all fun. I think I'm about 4 years older than you, maybe more. 77 this summer.
@@DocLord901 No it's not, but at least we're having the privilage of getting older.. You've got 6 years on me, I'll be 71 in June. I hopr you heal quickly and completely. Other than a little heart arrhymia and normal aches from wear and tear, I have been doing ok. Just knocked on wood.
The wait will be worthwhile. What do you do for health insurance doing all your travels? Stay Well Stay Safe and Enjoy Every Day!
I have good health coverage as a retiree through my former employer, a university. I may enchance it a bit if I decide I will go down into Mexico. Looking forward to getting back out on the road for an extended period.
A great into into 2024 Jim! Caught red handed............that was great and very believeable knowing where you are the wind is quite often howling up there.....awesome........take care Jim. The bike look amazing.......looking forward to a more indepth view of it.
I'm hearing that same wind right now outside the house I am in. Just glad I am not actually in the Mini Mate. I am pleased with the bike... now just need to get it to this side of the island.
One more question, how many miles does the gold wing have?
It has 140,000 km/87,000 miles. One owner who rode it an average of 4500 km/2800 miles per year. Had it serviced almost every year. Thst's what I liked, it hadn't been sitting around without being used.
I've owned both ST and GL1500, I think you will love the new ride. more power handles as well as the ST and more comfortable. Glad the accident was not personally damaging. Hopefully 2024 will treat you better. Set construction is a unique craft, my sister in law was a drama teacher so was my father in law so I am well aware of the talents it takes.
I taught at university level as support staff, mostly lighting and sound... this gets me back to my roots when I started professionally and I enjoy making sawdust. I think the Gold Wing is going to make me very happy as a trailer hauler.
Happy New Year James. Wishing you a great year to come, full of safe travels.
If you end up coming to Florida, I would love to bring my ST & minimate and meet up.
The wing is a beauty, congrats.
Happy New Year back at you! If everything goes to plan and if I don't decide to winter in Mexico, I would be in the Panama City area around Sept. 26/27 before heading north. I will be looking for camping suggestions in the area. I plan to go to Two Wheels of Suches after that. I'm looking forward to getting aquainted with the Gold Wing.
Like 151 here from Mr. Garry in Gander. Blowin a Gale where you are! Great Video my friend. Cheers to you as well. Happy 2024!
A whole week of wind it seems, Here's to a great 2024!
That's an ambitious schedule for 2024. Really looking forward to your reports
I've got over 100 days planned. At least one day off a week. A few rallies that will be 3 day stops. Average of 400 km/250 miles per day. I plan to keep a relaxed pace this trip.
Hey, indoor camping in winter 🤔🙄... genius !!! 😂😆🤣
I didn't get this old by being dumb lol. Well, maybe luck played a bigger part than smarts.
Great year end review..... I think you'll love the Go-Wang (GoldWing) 1500...lol...... I hope to run into you this yesr
I would love to run into you, er, meet you this year. We'll have to see if we can make that happen. I will be down your way in late Sept. I think. Wouldn't mind going to the Barber Museum again.
I'll be around for sure..... I'll definitely stay in touch with you
wow that goldwing looks sweet jim , i like it more then the old bike !! cheers
I can hardly wait to get her on the road.
That Goldwing is a super nice looking bike. Is it heavier than the other bike. If dropped it might be harder to get up.
Sorry about your accident, glad you are recovering. Looking forward to 2024.
I'm looking forward to a good 3 months on the road this year. Yup, the Goldwing is about 100 lb. heavier than the ST, but the weight is a little lower down. On a flat parking lot I'll be able to pick it up but that is never where we drop it, is it? I've never found it long before help shows up. Weather has gotten in the way every weekend where I had a trailer so we're still waiting to bring her home.
Old Guy (i'm old too), that GL is BEAUTIFUL...love to see a video of your motorcycle search and a good rundown on the GL. Glad you were able to find such a beauty. Best of luck with her!
I'll talk about the bikes I looked at while traveling the province. Certainly will talk about the new lady when I have her on this side of the island.
Jim; good video!! Been wondering about you. Good to see your doing well!! I am keeping up with your travel plans. I am planning on Alaska, leaving home in June. Chances are looking pretty good. Hopefully our schedules can cross and we can meet. What did you name your new ride? God Bless safe ridin rubber down
Hope you enjoy the Alaska ride. I might look at that for 2025. Paths might cross as you finish the round trip to Alaska. Haven't sat on her long enough for her to tell me her name. I suspect it will take a thousand kilometres our of her before she's whisper me it. Here's to an adventurous and safe 2024!
Happy New Year Jim, health, peace and happiness on your new bike! Lots of good moments ahead, keep up the good work of sharing your trips🥂👍
Happy New Year and here's to safe adventures in 2024. As long as a can, I'll continue to share my travels.
And if you come through the upper peninsula, this yepreferably. After julet me know I have a place out. There On Lake superior.
I'll probably be doing the Canadian shore of Lake Superior, got to visit people in Ottawa and Thunder Bay, so I might not be in your area but I have to do the US side of Lake Superior at some point.
Hi Jim great looking new bike, I have a 1999 goldwing with 300K on it and it still works like new. My only recommendation for your new bike is carry a spare alternator, the alternator can be changed out in 30 minutes on side of the road and 15 minutes of that is letting it cool down.
The owner replaced the altenator last summer and put new tires on just before he got a good deal on an 1800. 140K kms/87K miles... I can hardly wait to get a feel for her.
A couple observations: Thats not a bourban glass, are you changing it up to something new? The GL looks nice, you'll love reverse. Looks like you've master flying that drone. Looks like the finger is getting better given the soft splint you're sporting.
Had to switch things up for New Year's... I don't mind a good martini. I am soooooo looking forward to getting the bike over here. Got to do a bit more flying than usual this summer. Those shots were just teases. Hand/finger is healing fine. Lots of physio yet but I can put a motorcycle glove on already and I know I can pull in the clutch lever.
Always look forward to your end of year video. Hope your hand is healing well. I have been riding a 98 1500 for many years now and I think you will like it . The sound of the wind outside mini mate was a neat trick. Can’t wait till next video
I actually recoreded that wind last winter here in Cow Head, so ity was authhentic. Just I wasn't out in it. Looking forward to start getting to know the 1500. The hand is getting better every day.
Complement, victor from South Africa.
Happy New Year Victor!
Happy New Year. Loved the background soundscape. ;). Have a good time planning out routes for 2024. Cheers
Once a theatre sound guy, always a theatre sound guy. Got the rough routes planned... will do more detailed plotting over the winter... and then play it by ear half the time on the road. Here's to a safe 2024, Robert, with lots of kms in the wind.
@@OldGuyonaBike thank you. Currently planning my trip to Tuktoyaktuk for 2025. The 2024 season will be a couple of SToc events and some shakedown runs on the VStrom. ;)
Can’t wait to see the new bike on the road
You and me both!
Well done Jim, the Wing looks great.
I think she does too. Still need to get her to my side of the island. Soon!
beautiful province James, love the new Bike , look out 2024 here we come
