Learning English Podcast - Chinese Workers, Less Alcohol

On today's podcast, Ashley Thompson and Dan Novak host the show and Ashley tells listeners what they are going to hear.
First, Bryan Lynn reports on retirement in China. Many older workers are continuing to work because they say government payments offered to retirees are not enough to live on. Rural workers whose homes are in the country fear returning to the country will result in a retirement in poverty. Experts say China's pension system is likely to run out of money in the coming years.
Then, Anna Matteo report about the most recent health advice regarding alcohol. With improved studies on the dangers of alcohol, drinking guidelines are changing as doctors say less alcohol means better health. Studies from several countries suggest that reducing any alcohol use improves health.
Following the report, Ashley and Anna discuss how more people are having celebrations without alcohol. They explain the term "dry" when discussing alcohol use. The two also review how new studies suggest that not drinking alcohol is the healthiest choice.
Next comes a message from Ashley for Let's Learn English with Anna, VOA Learning English's children's show.
After that, Ashley has a lookahead to tomorrow's Education Report which looks at autonomy for teachers.
Finally, Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins present the Lesson of the Day. Today's program teaches about using the -er ending to make verbs into nouns. Andrew and Jill use VOA's Let's Learn English series to demonstrate their grammar and usage points.
