    This is the Ashover Light Railway, a narrow gauge railways situated at Peak Rails Rowsley South. I believe the railways been here a while but recently had a change of ownership. To my surprise, they had more track there then what I was first expected, made it more enjoyable with a fast ride (for a narrow gauge diesel at least). From past research, I also believe that the Ashover Light Railway was the name of a old narrow gauge railway now consigned to the history books, with stock including ex WDLR Baldwin 4-6-0Ts, so I do look forward to see one running here in the future, perhaps in ALR livery!
    Locomotives in action were;
    . Hunslet NCB No. 8917 'Linby'
    . DNEPC 'Spondon'

    What a lovely little video! Sorry we didn't find it sooner. It was certainly a very interesting day. I'm glad to say that our trackwork has progressed greatly since then - no more ballast getting stuck in the flangeways! Once our extension has been completed and our diesel fleet have returned to action, we'd gladly have you back to check off the rest. Your research is indeed correct; the original ALR ran for 7 miles between the industrial town of Clay Cross and the village of Ashover in the Derbyshire Dales. The idea of our line at Rowsley is to recreate the atmosphere of the original line - including the ALR-style turning triangle you will have seen under construction.

    Well, you can hope, my good fellow. But the prices on everything, including coal and maintenance are rising. Eventually, many fear, the dream of seeing another engine on the Ashover Light Railway will be destroyed. Sadly, the steam engines might have to stop running altogether. Someone will have to raise a funding appeal: Save our coal, water and steam engines. They'll need to do it very quickly, otherwise any hopes of seeing steam engines running anywhere will be dashed to pieces. It's something none of us wants to think about, but that's the reality of it all.
